When Tyler was little, he went through phases where he wanted to be a fire fighter or a police man or a veterinarian. Every month he seemed to change his mind. He'd be all into it too, like how for a couple months when he was eight he wanted to be a scientist, and loved making small chemical reactions with play sets.

As a teenager, Tyler picked up music and after awhile decided he wanted to go into sound design so he could work with movies and games. He watched interviews and behind the scenes and was really invested in learning about applying music to entertainment.
Upon graduating, Tyler didn't jump straight into college. Tyler wanted to get a job to help save up, but also to give himself more time to decide on a college and get scholarships and be prepared. Tyler began working in retail, and really fucking hated it, but they were the only type of jobs he could get.
Life got in the way and Tyler began to push off college, saying he wasn't ready. His parents were worried and didn't like him staying in retail, but they couldn't force Tyler to do anything. In that Time, Tyler met Mike and eventually Onity. About a year later Tyler decides maybe he should go to college. With support from Mike, Onity, and his family, Tyler goes to a college about an hour away for music.

And he realizes halfway through the year thats not what he wants anymore. Music is cool and he is dedicated to it, but more so as a fan and hobbyist. So he drops out. He spends a lot if time trying to decide what he wants to try. In the end, he goes to a nearby college for medical training, to later become an EMT/paramedic. This decision had influence on the fact that Tyler's dad works as a nurse at the local hospital, and with an alien boyfriend who can't go to the hospital if hurt, it'd be beneficial to have an education in this stuff. Tyler also grew up with a deep respect for these people, cuz they have saved his life multiple times.

When Tyler completes all the requirements, with help from his dad, he's able to land a job at the hospital within a few months. He continues to work at the hospital until his passing. Its got its fair share of crazy people but he likes it infinitely more then retail  and feels like he's actually making a difference and is more useful.
