Jim, Silver, Morph, and you were able to rush back to the portal and jump through without getting killed. The planet's core was still blowing up from beyond the portal.

"Silver, you gave up?" Jim asked the cyborg.

"It's a lifelong obsession, Jim, Y/n. I'll get over it," Silver said calmly.

"Aloha, Jimmy, Y/n!" BEN's voice shouted.

Suddenly, the RLS Legacy gently descended in front of your group.

BEN was standing by the railing looking panicked. "Hurry, people! We got exactly two minutes and thirty-four seconds till planet's destruction!"

At the wheel, you could see Delbert steering with Amelia by his side.

"You're doing fine, Doctor," Amelia complimented. "Now ease her over gently-gently!"

Delbert steered the ship to the side of the cliff, bumping just slightly into it. You and Jim leaped in, and then helped Silver into the ship.

"Take us out of here, metal man!" Amelia ordered BEN.

"Aye, Captain!" BEN replied.

 BEN was at the controls of the Legacy as it soared over the exploding planet. Explosions and laser beams could be seen from below the ship. Jim, Silver, and you climbed up to where Amelia was resting.

"Captain," Silver said breathlessly, "you dropped from the heavens in the nick of-"

"Save your claptrap for the judge, Silver!" Amelia snapped at the pirate.

Silver just chuckled nervously in response.

Suddenly, a large piece of debris from the explosions hit the solar sails of the ship. The mast broke from the impact, and it landed on one of the thrusters of the ship.

"Missile tail demobilized, Captain!" BEN announced, doing calculations on his chest. "Thrusters at only thirty percent of capacity."

"Thirty percent?" Delbert questioned. "That means-" Delbert looked back at Amelia "-we'll never clear the planet's explosion in time."

You and Jim looked over the side of the ship, and saw the triangular portal was still open. You then saw the detached thruster sputtering on the deck. Poking Jim's shoulder to get his attention, you pointed at the thruster and grinned at him.

 "You thinking what I'm thinking?" you asked.

 Jim nodded and leaped down to the deck with you. "We gotta turn around."

 "What?" Amelia asked incredulously. 

 "There's a portal back there. It can get us out of here!" Jim quickly explained as he and you reached the thruster.

 "Pardon me, Jim, but doesn't that portal open onto a raging inferno?!" Delbert cried.

 "Yes," Jim grunted as he pulled a loose piece of the Legacy's side off. "But we're going to change that."

 "We're gonna open a different door," you said as you wordlessly helped Jim place the thruster to the back of the metal, side piece of the Legacy. 

 "Captain, really, I-I just don't see how this is possible-" Delbert stuttered to Amelia.

 "Listen to them!" Silver shouted.

 "One minute, twenty-nine seconds till planet's destruction!" BEN yelled out.

 "What do you need, Jim?" Silver asked, dashing to yours and Jim's side. 

 "Just some way to attach this," Jim explained, gesturing to the thruster with a piece of rope tied around it to the metal piece from the Legacy.

 "Alright. Stand back. Stand back now," Silver warned. 

 You and Jim moved away as Silver switched his mechanical hand to a blowtorch. Firing up the tool, Silver welded the thruster to the metal piece. Then, Jim, Silver, you, and even Morph lifted up the makeshift Solar Surfer to rest on the railing. 

 Jim climbed onto the contraption, and looked at Silver, Morph, and you. "Okay. Now, no matter what happens, keep the ship heading straight for that portal."

 You gripped Jim's arm tightly before he could go off. "Jim, wait. I'm coming, too."

 Jim shook his head. "No. This thing won't hold us both. I have to do this."

 "No, you don't! I've been Solar Surfing for as long as you have." You looked up at him pleadingly. "Jim, please-"

 "Fifty-eight seconds!" BEN shouted, interrupting you.

 Jim looked at you, his thoughts conflicted. Before you could say anything else, Jim pulled his arm to move you closer. He then leaned down and kissed you. 

 You froze.

 The kiss didn't last long. You weren't even sure if you kissed back. It only lasted for a few seconds before Jim pulled away to look at your dazed expression.

 "I'll be back," Jim promised. 

 He then pushed his foot back to activate the thruster, and he took off. You could only stand there in complete shock. It wasn't the kiss you expected getting from Jim in the middle of facing possible death. But you didn't mind. You didn't think that Jim would ever do that, but you were glad he did. Now you hoped that Jim could keep his promise.

 "Well, you heard him!" Silver shouted, snapping you out of your thoughts. "Get this blasted heap turned 'round!"

 Amelia was quiet for a few seconds, before telling Delbert, "Doctor, head us back to the portal."

 "Aye, Captain." Delbert complied to her order, and the Legacy was turned around, heading straight for the portal. 

 As the ship moved along, you could faintly see Jim ahead of you, expertly dodging the broken parts of the planet floating upwards in his path. At the same time, Delbert did his best to dodge the debris. He did bump the ship into a piece of debris once.

 "Go to the right! The right!" Amelia shouted at Delbert.

 "I know, I know! Will you just let me drive?!" Delbert shouted back. 

 You couldn't help but think that they were bickering like an old married couple. 

 "Twenty-five seconds!" BEN announced, his eyes an alarming red color.

 You looked back at Jim at the right time to see the thruster fail, and Jim fell down to the fiery bottom. 

 "No! Jim!" you cried out. 

 You felt so helpless seeing your best friend fall to his possible doom. You wished that there was another broken thruster so you could save Jim. All you could do is wait and hope that Jim would fly up again. You waited with bated breath along with Silver.

 "Come on, lad," Silver muttered. 

 "Seventeen seconds!" BEN screeched. 

 Your heart hammered against your chest anxiously. Heart pounding, body tense, knuckles white. You didn't see Jim rise up once you passed over where he fell. The Legacy flew closer and closer to the portal. It didn't change from the image of the exploding planet core. 

 "Seven!" BEN counted down.

 You gripped the railing anxiously.

 "Six!"

 Morph looked away.

 "Five!" 

 Silver drew you in close to him.

 "Four!"

 You held onto Silver.

 "Three!"

You shut your eyes tightly, gripping your spyglass with white knuckles. 

 "Two!"

 You didn't hear BEN say the last number. Everything was silent for that last second. You couldn't hear anything but your rapid heartbeat. Then all of the sudden, the ship flew into the open Etherium, the planet exploding in the open portal behind the Legacy. The ship flew off before it could get damaged from the explosion. You lifted your head once you heard Jim's cheers. He had survived. And so did you.

 "You done it, Jimmy! You done it, boy!" Silver laughed joyously. 

 Jim whooped in triumph as he sailed close to Silver, and gave him a high five before flying off. Morph exploded into fireworks and confetti in celebration, literally. 

 "Didn't I say the lad had greatness in him?" Silver asked.

 You could just hear the cheers of Silver's pirate crew from below the deck. Delbert and Amelia even hugged. Once they realized what they were doing, they didn't pull away in disgust. They just looked at each other warmly. Jim finally landed the makeshift Solar Surfer on the deck, and you rushed to meet him.

 Before he could do anything, you wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him into a kiss. Jim immediately responded, placing his hands on your waist and pulling you closer to him. Butterflies erupted in your stomach as your lips moved with Jim's. It was the best feeling in the world. You two finally pulled away reluctantly for breath, and smiled at each other. 

 "So, I'm guessing you feel the same?" Jim questioned.

 "What do you think that kiss was for?" you asked with a raised eyebrow. 

 Jim just chuckled as Morph, Delbert, and Amelia approached you two. Morph zipped towards Jim and licked at him affectionately. 

 "Unorthodox, but ludicrously effective," Amelia said to Jim, then looked at both of you. "I'd be proud to recommend you two to the Interstellar Academy. They could use a man and woman like you two."

 "Just wait until your mothers hear about this!" Delbert said excitedly. He paused for a second before adding, "Of course, we may downplay the life-threatening parts."

 "Which is pretty much everything," you said with a chuckle. 

 Delbert just smiled and walked off as BEN came up to you and Jim. "Jimmy, N/n, that was unforgettable! I know you don't like touching, Jimmy, but get ready for a hug big guy, 'cause I gotta hug you two!"

 BEN leaped up and wrapped his arms around both you and Jim. With a laugh, Jim picked up you and BEN, and spun you both around. 

 When Jim let you and BEN down, BEN said to Jim, "Hey, you hugged me back. Oh, I promised myself I wouldn't cry." After wiping a fake tear from his eye, BEN cried into yours and Jim's chests. "Does anyone have a tissue?" 

 Jim and you then noticed that Silver had disappeared. Convincing BEN to let you two go for the moment, you and Jim set off to find the cyborg.

A/N. Done! Hope you all enjoyed! Sorry if the ending was kind of abrupt. I was planning to go further, but I wanted to save the talk with Silver for the last chapter. That's right! We have come to the end of this story people! Well, almost. One more chapter. One another note, you and Jim kissed! Finally (Anna)! Hope you all enjoyed that bit. Sorry if it was super cheesy and whatnot. Never really described a kiss scene. Haven't had my first kiss yet either so...I can't really say much about kissing.
