25 Let Me Out
POV Elsa
My bed just shook. I open my eyes and see him, sitting on my beds edge. “We are going out today, right?” He chuckled and stared at me, I pulled my blanket over my head. How will I survive from this? I have to sneak him out, without anyone noticing. Then keep Jack away from people.
“Come on!” He whined and pushed me from my side, “I am getting bored in this room!” He pulled the blanket from me, “You promised?” His face was inches away from me and his eyes were watching mine keenly. It was like he was in a staring contest but for few seconds his eyes looked down to my lips when I whispered that I did promise. His cheeks blushed slightly and he backed away. “Sorry!” His fingers ran on his hair, “I just got excited about this day.”
A knock sounded from the door, my hand went over his mouth immediately, telling him to hush. “Elsa! Come to breakfast!” It was Anna. ”No! I will eat here!” I squealed and saw Jack’s eyes glancing to me, his pupils widening while I kept him silent. He muffled and I noticed that in my panic attack I had been using my power without knowing it. I let go of him and heard Anna’s steps moving away from door.
“What was that about?” Jack rubbed his face and my cheeks were burning up. I just gave him cold treatment, right to the spot where my hand was. “Uh..I have something to tell you,” I whispered while he was warming his face with his hands. “What?” His voice was muffled since he was keeping a hand over his mouth.
I sighed, “let’s go outside and I will tell you my biggest fear.” He looked at me with confused look. “What about the breakfast?” He exhaled. ”NO BREAKFAST!” I gasped and quickly run to my bathroom to change my clothes.
When I stepped back to my bedroom from the attached bathroom I saw Jack standing close to the door already. He turned around and cocked his eyebrow, “You ready miss?” He offered his arm for me to grab. Quickly I lifted the hood up from his hoodie and covered his face with that way. “W-why?” He exhaled and his arm drop down to his side. “Umm…. Just because,” I gasped and unlocked the door.
He followed me in silence. It was really hard to get outside from the castle. There were always some people at the corridors like maids and other servants. Luckily Anna was nowhere to be seen since she would enjoy seeing me with a guy too much.
“Am I a prisoner?” He whispered coldly and made me turn around. “No!” I yelled to him. ”Then why do you keep me behind locked doors? Did I lose my mind when I lost my memory? Am I a danger or something?” He yelled to me, lifting the hood off from his head. My heart was beating painfully, how would I explain.
He walked towards me, waving his hand in anger. “Why! Tell me already! I need to know!” My whole body froze and his hands were now squeezing my shoulders. “Why?” He whispered with broken voice. ”I can’t stand being there alone!” He turned his head away from me.
Alone. He felt alone. A memory of a small girl watching other kids play outside run to my mind. Everything else vanished around me, the colors of autumn turned to a sight that I saw from window. Kids were playing on spring and the girl watched them, with cheerful smile that suddenly was gone when her hands frosted the window glasses. She shivered in fear, fear of herself. My insides were now twisting when a memory of my childhood set my body out of control. Fear got over me.
The ground beneath my feet was freezing, Jack took a step back and the frosted leaves crunched beneath his feet. “W-what?” He exhaled while he stared the ground. It was too late, tears were falling on my cheeks and the air turned to cold. The wind was blowing and snowflakes floating to ground. The floating effect turned to a blizzard that roamed around me. “We need to get shelter!” Jack yelled but I felt numb, my body didn’t listen to me. I screamed from the pain I had been feeling all of these days.
Then I felt something, waking up me from my daze. I lift my face up and now I know what I felt. Jack is embracing me, holding me close. “Please, we need to get shelter or you will freeze,” he whispered to my ear. He doesn’t remember that I cannot feel the cold. He was quivering. He feels the cold.
“Please,” he whispered. ”Let go of me,” I told him. “You need shelter and not me!” I cried to him. “What do you mean?” He made me look at him to eyes by lifting my face from my chin. “I…I..” My words were all tangled as I watched him. The snow storm got calmer until it finally was gone.
He watched up, “Finally it is gone!” I tried to get away from him but he didn’t let me. “Why did you tell me to get shelter?” There was no way to escape from this now.
“I can control snow and ice,” I said quickly and buried my head on his shoulder. “You what?” He sounded amused. ”Ice and snow. I control them.” He gently pushed me further away from him, ”You’re joking? Right?” He was glaring at me.
I shook my head and walked further away from him. I clenched my fists and felt nervous. He might run away from me after this but there is no turning point anymore. “Prepare yourself,” I smiled to him faintly. Here it goes.
Nothing. I freaked out again and shivered. “Well?” He cocked his eyebrow. ”M-may I sing at the same time? It..it calms me down?” I swallowed the lumpy feeling. He smiled and nodded. ”Do I need earplugs?” He laughed. He just mocked me, my heart fluttered. My Jack, he mocked me.
Just simple thing like making fun of me and I felt so much more alive than ever during these days after he got hit by that curse. “Watch and admire!” I spin around and sang the song I’ve sing before. This time I skipped the concealing part because he hated my tries to conceal myself.
“Let it go, let it go
Can't hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door
I don't care
what they're going to say
Let the storm rage on.
The cold never bothered me anyway
It's funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me
Can't get to me at all
It's time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me,
I'm free!
Let it go, let it go
I am one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go
You'll never see me cry
Here I stand
And here I'll stay
Let the storm rage on
My power flurries through the air into the ground
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I'm never going back, the past is in the past
Let it go, let it go
And I'll rise like the break of dawn
Let it go, let it go
That perfect girl is gone
Here I stand
In the light of day
Let the storm rage on
The cold never bothered me anyway!
For the whole song I watched his reaction. When I created the first whirl of snow he seemed surprised, taking few steps back. Then he was looking at the ice crystals in the air and I saw how his mouth was twitching, showing a sign of forming a smile. It made me sing louder, happier. Around his eyes were wrinkles when he smiled happily to me. He laughed when I created ice beneath him, making him slip and trying to find his balance.
Then I got to my grand finale. His expression was priceless when I changed my regular fabric dress to an icy creation. “Whoa,” he exhaled so loudly that I heard him. After the song I waited for a comment, anything. He was staring at me. Slowly I thawed the ice that I made and I waved my hand to melt the snow as well. Suddenly he stopped my hand in the middle way of the melting process and there was some snow left now.
“Don’t,” he smiled widely, “Let’s have some fun.” He kneeled down and made a snowball. I giggled to him, I just couldn’t help to not do so. He laughed and threw a snowball at me. I avoided it and suddenly felt how something hit my back. “You’re too slow,” he laughed. He had done a second snowball that hit me.
“I will get you Frosty!” I laughed and saw that he looked at me curiously, “I mean Overland!” I corrected quickly while leaning down to grab some snow. “No!” He chuckled, “Do it with your power.” He cocked his eyebrow and I let the lump of snow fall down from my hands.
Slowly I rose up, “No.. I can’t, i-it is not safe.” He chuckled again, “It won’t be safe if you refuse to fight back.” He was rolling a big snowball in the ground. “You can’t lift that one up!” I gasped when I saw the size of it. “Can you be so sure?” He laughed and lifted it up with both hands.
Just before he was threwing the huge snowball at me,I closed my eyes and waved my both hands to his direction. “Ouch!” He yelled and I opened my other eye. I had just used his own snowball against him. ”Whoa!” He looked at me amazed. “S-sorry,” I turned away and bite my lip.
The snow was crunching beneath his feet as he walked to me. “No need to be, I actually love snow and winter,” his hand was on my shoulder and I turned around. “You do?” I stared at his eyes. ”Yeah I do! How long have you kept this secret from me? Or did I forgot…or..” His eyes were now moving rapidly as he was thinking. “No, you didn’t know everything,” I sighed. He didn’t know anything as a human but Jack Frost knew everything about me. Jack Frost knew even more than I did know about myself.
“Hey!” He lifted my chin, “Can I ask you something?” He cocked his eyebrow and I nodded. “Make more snow, please?” He smiled and nodded towards the ground. “Oh, sure I can?” It was now raining snow. ”This is enough,” he said. “For wha-,” he just pushed me to ground and was laughing.
“W-what are you doing?” I exhaled. “We-,” he started and let himself fall to his back next to me, “- are doing some snow angels.” I looked at him with misbelieve. “You don’t know how?” He smirked cockily and was now moving his hands and legs sideways. “Do it like this and then-, “ he grunted when he jumped back up, “-then you lift yourself up and admire your guardian angel.”
He chuckled while he glanced at me, his chin lifted up. “Well, move your arms and legs?” I blushed and did as he told me. “How do I get up?”I tried to push myself up, he rolled his eyes and smirked. Slowly I took a hold of the hand he was offering, quickly he pulled me up and our bodies touched for a moment.
“Look,” he whispered and turned me around by my shoulders. There were two so called angels. “That one has a horn,” he whispered to my ear and my cheeks were burning up. He referred to my angel that had a spike on its head, because of my French braid. “You!” I yelled to him and turned around pushing him from his chest. He laughed and managed to keep his pose steady.
His expression gets suddenly more serious, “Time to head back, huh?” He looks at me. Yeah, it was time for lunch already and we needed to go back. “Sorry,” I whispered to him. “Hey, don’t worry. Maybe we can go out more often?” He smirked and his white teeth were showing for a moment.
“I guess we can Jack,” I smiled to him and he patted my back. “You’re the best caretaker ever,” he chuckled while mocking me. “Don’t try your luck Frosty!” I raised my eyebrow but then I remembered that frosty is new to him. He was looking at me with mouth open when I turned around. “Frosty?” He exhaled but suddenly burst into laughter, “Sure! I like winter. Call me that if you want.” He walked past me and rubbed my head.
