Grian's Perspective-

"But they...they wouldn't do that." Grian said, his breath rushing, "They wouldn't lie."

Grian had just finished telling Scar what Mumbo told Grian.

"I'm sorry Birdie, but it's true."

Tears started to form in Grian's eyes as he tried to calm down, "B-but they wouldn't- I know them- my whole life..."

"Grian," Scar grabbed his boyfriend's hands, "They've been lying to you this entire time."

"B-but..."

"But Grian...didn't you say that you can be free and normal if you took off your mask?"

"Y-yeah but it hurts every time I try to."

"What if I do it?"

Grian hesitated but nodded and Scar put his hands on the mask.

Grian shouted in pain and Scar took his hands off.

"N-no do it." Grian said shakily.

"Birdie, I don't wanna cause you this pain."

"Please." Grian sobbed, "I need to be normal. I don't wanna be a Watcher and lie and kill people and be a...be a monster!"

"But Birdie... this is hurting you."

"But I need to get out of here. They murdered Mumbo. He was my best friend."

Grian hugged Scar and Scar hugged back.

They stood there for a moment before Grian took a deep breath and said, "Do it. I'm ready."

Scar tried again and Grian screamed.

Scar quickly removed his hands.

"N-no do it."

"Birdie, I- this could kill you."

"It's fine- "

"No, it's not." Scar said, tears forming in his eyes, "I don't wanna cause you pain. Please. I love you."

Grian smiled and kissed his boyfriend's lips.

"Do it. Please. Then we can be normal together."

Scar smiled and then said, "Okay. You ready?"

Grian nodded.

They both took a deep breath and Scar put his hands on the mask.

Grian started to scream and struggle in pain, but Scar didn't stop.

"I'm so sorry Grian!" Scar said, tears falling as he watched his boyfriend cry in pain.

Grian's hands then started to fight Scar's.

"K-keep going! It's w-working!" Grian sobbed.

Scar yanked the mask off and Grian shouted and went limp.

Scar's breathing picked up as he held his boyfriend who went numb and frozen.

"N-no." Scar sobbed, clutching onto his boyfriend's body.

The mask fell to the floor and the only thing you could hear were Scar's soft sobs.
