Chapter 55: Suprise Suprise
After Micah returned home from Mariana's house, he grabbed his bags from the trunk and then walked up towards the entrance, feeling that refreshment that you get after a vacation. This weekend was one of the best he had for a very long time.
When he got inside, he was shocked to see Electra sitting there in a nightgown, with her hair in rollers and a face mask. She tapped away on her phone while sprawled out across the couch.
"Why are you here?" He yelled at the top of his voice. Just when he thought he could start the week to a great start.
She was startled as her phone almost slipped out of her hands. "Calm down, there's no need to shout," she muttered in annoyance and frowned while knitting her eyebrows together.
He stormed over toward her and threw her legs off which were laid too leisurely. She yelped but he grabbed her arm and started pulling her toward the door, eager to throw her out like rotten food, filled with maggots, that had gone off thousands of years ago.
"Get out!" He shouted while she tried to resist by pressing her feet on the ground. She pulled back but he was too strong for her.
"Micah leave her alone!" Aidan said, quickly coming down the stairs to the rescue. He removed Electra from his arms and stood between them to protect her.
"Why should I? She doesn't even deserve to be in here!" Micah protested.
"Yes, she does. Mason loves her and that's all that matters, so she's going to be staying with us since Mason has got back with her." Aidan said firmly and crossed his arms, obvious that nothing was going to change his mind.
"What why?!" Micah cried out. "Why do you do this to me?" He asked, he could care less if Mason was with Electra but having them under the same roof together was too much.
He couldn't understand why his father liked making him suffer when all he wanted was for him to be proud. Was that too much to ask for? Because looking at him was like looking at his own reflection, except seeing everything he would never be able to achieve.
"Why can't you just get over it?" Aidan shouted at him. He was fed up with Micah's attitude and hostility toward Electra when the poor woman did nothing wrong, except being nice to Mason.
"I did get over it." His teeth seethed in his speech, trying to seal in his frustration. How dare his father try and tell him that when he did nothing to support him at that time of need.
"It was Electra who came back here and brought up all these bad memories! I'm not the one who's at fault here." How did his father expect him to get over the cheating when the same people that caused it, were right in front of his eyes, doing the same things they did at that time.
"But you just need to leave Electra alone, that's all."
"She doesn't even leave me alone! She follows me around like my own freaking shadow! Why aren't you telling her this?" He shouted, he could feel his heart palpitate in his chest, making him feel slightly sick. Going back and forth like this was going to make him unwell because of stress.
"How much will it take for you to actually care? He finally asked, his voice broke, and felt burnt out as this came out of the pain in his heart. He felt so hurt that he felt reluctant about what he was about to say next as if it was his last resort.
"Would you have preferred if I had died in Majorca? Is that how much you hate me?" He asked. It pained him to recall the memory of last year, when he was just hanging on to his dying breath and blood rushing out, just how it felt right now talking to his father, he felt the pain gushing out of his chest, escaping through the crevice of his throat, and his sweat burning out of his pores.
Even though he didn't want to believe it, it really did seem that for his father to love him, it would only be for mourning purposes. Since all he needed was Mason.
"What?" Aidan was shocked at his outburst and what he just said, he couldn't think of why Micah would even mention such a thing. "Micah that's ridiculous, I love you, you're my son," he reasoned.
Micah shook his head, he didn't want to hear anymore because it would just be all lies. Any love that he would receive, would probably because of something Mason did.
"When I eventually move out, I never want to see or speak to you again!" He spat out and stormed up the stairs to his room, leaving Aidan wide-eyed shocked in his stance, and confused at his strong reaction.
"Well Aidan, even though I love you, you definitely deserve that," Crystal said, coming in from the kitchen while stirring her ice coffee. She then paused in the middle, wondering which chair to go to.
She began sniffing and scowled at the three-seater couch. "I can tell Electra sat there. I can smell the STDs off it." She kissed her teeth and sat on one of the singles.
"What's your problem with Electra?" Aidan asked with a frown.
"What's your problem with Micah?" She asked back.
"You're supposed to be on my side though."
"Oh I will," she said and sipped her drink. "When you stop acting irrationally."
"I'm not though? I just don't understand his problem. There's nothing wrong with Electra staying here," he said, looking up to the stairs where Micah's room will be. It really puzzled him the way Micah acted, he didn't see anything bad about Electra staying here, as long as it kept Mason happy. Maybe Micah was just jealous of them.
Well, he can only blame himself for that because if Micah only wanted to take over his company, then Electra would stay with him, but no, he wanted to "go his own way." Anyway serves him right that he got cheated on, maybe Mason can do the same with Mariana so the idea will get into his head. Be a man and not go for these mediocre cooking jobs, but something worthwhile like his multinational company.
Mason was a star and Electra was the perfect, young lady for him.
Crystal sighed and shook her head, he was really being thick in the head if he couldn't see how his actions were clearly hurting Micah. "Aidan, how many sons do you have?"
"Two... why?"
"What are their names?"
"Mason and Micah..." he muttered, as he thought this questioning was ridiculous.
"Okay, I was just making sure you know you have two instead of one," she said and drank from her cup.
"So you want Electra to stay here? So you want fire in this house?" She chuckled and just continued stirring her drink. Aidan was really asking for trouble at this point. But if that's what he wanted, that's what he was going to get.
"I wonder how long she will survive." She leaned back comfortably while muttering. "Makayla and Mylah are going to have a field day with her," she mumbled under her breath.
"Hi, mom!" Mason walked into the living room. "I got some chocolate for you." He pulled out Reese's chocolate bar.
"Thanks, honey." She took her favorite chocolate from his hand and drank her iced coffee. She looked at it and thought there could be something connected with this other than a simple, nice gesture.
"This is not going to make me like Electra by the way," she said, holding it in the air.
"Mom, why don't you give her a chance? Micah would be fine with it."
"No."
"Why don't you like her?"
"I liked her when she behaved like a decent human being."
"But she still behaves decently though," he said with a straight face, completely serious in what he said.
Crystal looked up at him with disbelief, she was about to say something but then sighed and rolled her eyes as she couldn't be bothered. She just drank in peace.
Later on, Micah was stuck in his bed. He heaved a heavy, hollow sigh, it seemed to lift a weight off his chest as his door slowly opened.
"Micah, can I come in?" Crystal asked.
He nodded slowly without turning his body that was overpowered by sadness, making it too weak to move.
She came in and sat beside him on his bed. "How are you feeling?"
"Why does he hate me?" Micah mumbled into his pillow. He couldn't understand all this animosity toward him, even when he was just a child, he still got treated like this.
"Oh my Micah, he doesn't hate you, he's just confused." She brought his body up and cuddled him.
"But it really does seem like it would be better off if I was dead," he sadly admitted, not looking at his mother. For who could look at the eyes of the person who gave them life and say they don't want it?
"Oh, Micah..." It broke her heart to hear him speak like this. She lifted his chin and patted his damp cheek. She wiped away his tears as she spoke softly, "please don't feel like that Micah. Don't wish that you ended up dead because of that accident. We all love you. Me, your father, Mason, and your sisters. And especially Mariana. She would be devastated if you didn't make it."
"That is true," he agreed. He knew Mariana wouldn't be able to live with herself if he died. He never blamed her for what had happened but she did and her guilt would probably eat her alive.
Suddenly, Crystal got an idea of what might cheer him up. "Speaking of Mariana, do you want to show me the pictures you guys took while in Aspen?" She suggested taking his mind off things.
"Okay." He got out his phone and gave it to his mom. Crystal began scrolling through it, smiling at each one.
She stopped at the one where Mariana was crouched on the snowy ground, holding a leaf up while being partially hidden from the blizzard. But she had a smile on her face as the snowflakes decorated her bun.
"Aw she's such a pretty girl, I love her so much," Crystal said.
Micah smiled at the photo as he loved her too. They both looked at Mariana, who they loved and were both fonds of.
Suddenly, he hugged his mom tightly. "I love you mom, thanks for listening," he said with sincerity. He was so lucky to have a loving and caring mum like her.
"I love you too Micah." She hugged him back.
When she left his room, he got out his Afro comb and began taking out his single plaits.
A/N: Hey I hope you enjoyed the chapter! Back to Electra drama 😂. You know you don't deserve to be a parent when your own child thinks they have to be dead in order for you to love them 😭😭.
But imagine if Micah actually did die? I don't think Mariana would last tbh, the guilt would eat her up.
