Chapter 36: Constipated
After the party Mariana went home, feeling refreshed and full, as she immediately went to bed. She had a great time but now she was extremely exhausted and just needed a goodnight's rest.
She was deep asleep, heaving softly until the disturbed rumbling of her belly awakened at the tint of dawn creeping upon the darkness. Like thunder, her belly gurgled, making her wake up in an abyss of her room.
Her head burned like a raging fire, her belly continued to rumble as she had the unnerving feeling to use the toilet. She stammered out of bed due to her head burning like the sun had been placed directly on it.
Her head spun as she slowly made her way to the bathroom. Her mouth felt ill and full of saliva. Her whole body quivered with coldness with each step she took, but just her head felt hot.
She made it to the bathroom while clutching her belly and sat on the toilet. In silence, she rocked back and forth while her belly continued to rumble but nothing came out. Sweat stained her forehead, making it sticky and uncomfortable, and didn't even help with the heat she felt.
Half an hour passed, the sky outside had barely begun to change and nothing improved except one poop, with drops of blood, but she still didn't feel empty. Her abdomen was in pain from the excessive pushing and it seemed like the gurgling had gone up to her throat.
She shut her eyes and whimpered in fear of what was to come. She hated the feeling of throwing up, just feeling her stomach forcefully push inwards and being unable to repress was horrible, and the scary part was never knowing when it was going to stop.
But she had to get off as she could feel it rising. She ended up getting up too quickly though as she almost slipped by her dizziness. Everything was disorientated and it felt like the world was in slow motion.
She bent over the toilet and vomited out everything she had ate. She held onto her legs, trying to keep herself from falling. Now came the part she feared the most. Food kept coming out, even if she stopped for a second, but it felt like the walls of her stomach was squeezing itself inwards like a sponge.
When she was finally done, she wiped her mouth and quickly turned away because she couldn't stand to see the sight. She sat back down and sighed. She was supposed to be sleeping but here she was, wide awake, trying to calm down her upset stomach. She hated when these things happened, especially in the night when they woke her up.
After one grueling hour later, her face was red and puffy and she was on the brink of crying. Nothing came out, only watery stools and some that refused to come out. She even had to remove her clothes because she was getting too sweaty and they restricted her movements.
Not only that, but she was stuck in between pushing too hard or too little. Two hard meant she had to vomit again which she wanted to avoid, and too little would have the stool going back up.
But now, it was early morning and she was just too exhausted to continue. So she got up, flushed everything down, and went back to sleep, still feeling like she wasn't completely empty.
When she got up an hour later, she still had a headache that was like an alarm clock going off. There was no way she could go to work like this so she decided to call in sick.
She put her phone away and made some breakfast. Since she had a bit of time now, she decided to make something different.
She placed a pan with foil in the oven and made a crust with a tube of dough as she separated it into triangles. She set it to bake for fifteen minutes while she prepared what was to go on top.
She heated olive oil on the stove and added spinach and mushrooms. Once it cooked till tender, she drained it and then mixed some eggs, Parmesan cheese, and pepper in a large bowl. She took the crust out of the oven and layered it with ham, salami, provolone cheese, peppers, the spinach mixture, and the egg one.
She worked with the remaining dough, forming it into triangles, and placed it on top of the filling before it went back in the oven.
While it baked, she got a glass of water since her mouth felt dry and cracked, and then took out the dish when she was ready. It smelt so good and heavenly which pleased her, even though she still felt a bit sick.
She sat down with a slice and her water, as Rio ate his food in the corner. She watched some TV as she ate in peace, except for the occasional rumbling of her belly. She picked up her phone and texted Leilani to see if she was free to come over. She would've loved to text Micah but he was probably at work.
Fortunately, Leilani replied that she would be round soon. Mariana was happy about that and put her phone down while she slowly ate her food in peace.
So far, her belly seemed to have calmed down, but she rubbed it because it was still sore. She wasn't feeling nauseous but her mouth was extremely dry which led her to sip the water. Slowly but gently because she didn't want to have another episode.
When there was a sudden knock on the door, she got up slowly from her seat to because she still felt dizzy, and with steady steps, she went to open it where Leilani was stood outside alone. Her hair was down and the light painted her concerned face.
"Hey," Mariana said, her voice came out weak and fragile as she hugged her with her aching arms.
"Hi, didn't you go to work today?"
"No, I'll explain," she said and pulled her inside, shutting the door behind them.
They sat on the couch. Mariana felt a bit of pressure around her ass like something wanted to come out.
"I think I have diarrhea," Mariana said.
"Really? Did you eat anything bad?"
"I don't know... I don't think so," she said, recalling everything she had last night. All she had was the dish Micah made for her, some drinks, and snacks. But none of them seemed to be off or have an unusual taste or smell.
"Hm... maybe see how you feel this week to see if it's just a one-off, or you can go to the doctors to see if it's something more serious."
"Yeah I'll do that if the diarrhea continues," she said, but she dearly hoped it wouldn't come to that. She just had a good weekend, why did it have to turn so sour so soon?
Leilani scooted closer and patted her back. "Don't worry Mariana, I'm sure you'll be alright."
"Yeah, I hope so," she sighed, "how's Mateo anyway?"
"He's good, he's having his nap right now."
"That's nice," Mariana said, trying to have a smile, but she suddenly felt the need to go toilet again so she hurried to the bathroom and sat down.
After a few minutes of sitting, she managed to clear out her stomach some more but not much. Just more watery stools that dripped out some blood. It still hurt to push but she wanted to clear everything out as soon as possible.
When she was done, she flushed everything down and washed her hands. She returned downstairs, still aching, as her leg muscles were sore as well as the insides of her stomach.
She sat with Leilani and they spent time together watching tv. Unfortunately, Mariana started feeling nauseous again so she rushed to the bathroom and vomited out all her breakfast.
All this pushing out put such strain in her belly, and she felt even weaker than before. She never expected that she would vomit again after last night. Maybe she really did need a doctor's appointment because this seemed more than food poisoning.
Oh well, she would soon find out in the coming days.
A/N: Hey I hope you enjoyed the chapter! Sorry for the little filler, even though I kinda planned for it to be like this 😅.
