Chapter 17: Stress

Forks clinked against plates as Micah and Mason ate their macaroni and cheese in the living room. They were sat on opposite ends and did not make eye contact.

Two hours had passed since Micah woke up and as promised, he and Mariana spent some time playing tennis outside, and then they watched a movie until she started to get a headache and abdominal pain so she wanted to go home.

"So how's Electra Micah?" Mason asked with a smirk.

"Don't ask me that stupid question."

"Aw don't be like that, how's her body like? Since it seems like you two met recently..."

"Mason," he put down his fork. "I'm so close to coming over there and punching you right now. I've not seen her since the day we broke up so stop asking me about her!" he snapped. He just wanted to eat his food in peace and not bring up that disgusting puta again.

Mason didn't say anything so he resumed eating.

"So when was that photo taken?" He asked curiously.

Micah raised his eyes at him, how can he have the nerve to ask such a question when he knew exactly when it was taken?

"You really wanna know?"

"Yeah..."

He got up and started approaching his brother while his voice rose higher. "You want to know exactly when that..." He suddenly shuddered squeamishly, unable to even think of that revolting image.

He took a few breaths to calm himself down because he didn't want to go to bed in a sour mood.

Once he was fully calm, he sat back down and continued eating his food. He wanted to finish it as soon as possible and then go to bed.

"It seems like you're still mad," Mason said slowly with caution.

"Mason, if I was still mad, we wouldn't be in the same room like this."

"You know what, that's true," he nodded in agreement, "but you seem so stressed."

"Because dad is constantly on my back, and now I have to deal with this," he started stabbing the remains of macaroni. He wasn't in the mood to be bothered with all this.

"I mean what does she even want? She made it pretty clear that she never loved me which I'm completely fine with, by the way, so what's she up to?" His eyes narrowed as he sucked his lips in. He didn't even know how to process all that was happening right now.

"Yeah I remember that day pretty well, it was so funny," Mason chuckled.

"It was not," he said with a straight face and a serious undertone.

"Yeah you're right, I'm sorry," he said so Micah won't start shouting at him.

He finished up his food and placed it on the table. "I'm going to bed now." He wanted to drop the topic as talking about it was so exhausting for him.

"Goodnight baby brother."

"Night," he muttered and stumbled up the stairs.

Once he got into the sanctuary of his bedroom, he changed into his pajamas and climbed in. He was finally glad to be able to get some sleep and away from this madness.

His eyes slowly closed into the peace of his dreams that he could never get from when he awakened.

Monday

Mariana and Leilani were sat down having a cocktail, mixed with tequila and grapefruit soda, made by Miguel. She was currently hanging out with her at his parents' house.

"So how was work today?" Leilani asked, sipping her drink.

"Yeah, work was good, lots of customers today," she nodded while drinking from her glass.

"And Micah? Did you get to talk to him about the thing?" Leilani asked inquisitively.

"Um yeah..." she said quietly while sipping her drink.

"How did it go?"

"Um good, I guess."

"What did he say?"

"He said it's old so he's going to find a date or something for it to show me."

"Ooh so it's real..." she leaned back while slowly drinking out of her glass.

"Urgh don't remind me," she grumbled. She didn't like the fact that, that picture happened in real life. The thought that Micah was with someone else before her, made her insides ablaze.

She rapidly tapped the glass and shook it, making the pinkish liquid agitated like a stormy river. Her brown eyes burned through it like she wanted it to melt into her hands. She hated his ex and wished she would stay out of her life.

She gulped down what was remaining and refilled it.

She drank some more which put a smile on her face. Despite her bad mood, the drink was pleasantly delicious.

"Mm this is so nice," she hummed.

"Yeah, it is," Leilani said.

The door suddenly opened and Miguel came in holding Mateo.

"Hola ladies, you enjoying yourselves?"

"Hey baby," Leilani stood up and went over to him. She gave him a hug and a kiss while removing Mateo from his arms.

"And how's my baby boy?" she said as she sat back down, bouncing him gently on her leg. "Oh, I love you so much!" She smothered his soft, chubby face with kisses.

She eventually let him down and he started to crawl around the carpet.

"So what are you going to do when you get home?" She asked.

"I don't know, maybe play my piano and sleep,"  she said. She was feeling pretty tired and still had a piercing pain in her abdomen while she felt like something was leaking.

"Aw okay, I hope you will be alright," she said in a comforting voice.

"Thanks."

"And if you ever need someone to talk to, you can always call me."

"Thanks, Leilani," she said and hugged her. She hoped this will all pass soon, but she wasn't too sure about that hope.

"No problem, now what do you say about making something quick in the kitchen?"

"Okay sure," she smiled weakly as a sharp pain stabbed her abdomen.

They both got up and went into the kitchen to bake something.

A/N: Hey I hope you enjoyed the chapter!
