Y/n's POV~

"Whacha doing, Y/n?" My Mother Asked with many silliness "Just looking out the window, viewing the new Town that we live in!" I cheerfully replied. I'm the one they call Y/n L/n. Lots of my friends in my old town new me as 'A Big Fan Of The Madrigals', but now, I live just around the block from them! This is a different part of the Town I never seen before, because my Mother told me that when I was younger, we went to Mirabel's Ceremony to watch her get her gift, but she somehow didn't get one. My Father doesn't like them because he's pretty much jealous of all that they have, but my Mom supports me 100 percent, that's the reason why we live so close now!

Today is supposed to be the Ceremony where Antonio gets his gift, and my Mom is literally begging me to go, she probably knows that I'm the same age as the Shapeshifter and wants me to possibly get with him...as if that WL happen! He probably won't even like me that way. It started to get dark out, around the time the Ceremony would start. Me, My Father, and my Mother got ready and headed out the door, attending to Casita!

When we arrived, there was already a bunch of people inside and heading in. I could feel butterflies in my stomach as I drew closer to the front door and spotted the one they call Camilo greeting everyone. I stopped in my tracks and hid behind my mother, she turned around and gently held my hand in hers "It's okay Cariño, I'm right here." She comforted, I nodded assuringly and began to walk with her side by side. I saw my Dad roll his eyes and cross his arms. That made me lose a bit of Motivation, but I sucked it up and kept moving like a stone skipping on water.

We approached the Madrigal as he smiled happily to greet us. "Hello Ma'am! Sir!-" He welcomed my Mother and Father, but stopped when he saw me. I guess he didn't know what to call me. He took my hand and stroked it "Hermosa~" he greeted making me blush "H-Hi!" I replied. He looked surprised at the sound of my voice and snorted a bit, me giggling too. My Father took notice of this and threw on a fake smile, pulling me gently away from Camilo, My Mom whined sadly since he ruined the moment.

We walked inside, and ended up being greeted by the giftless girl herself, also the same age as me, Mirabel. I squealed when I saw her, she ended up doing the same "Hiii! Welcome!!" She spoke, I smiled happily. "Everyone!!" Abuela Alma called out, catching everyone's attention. "It is time for Antonio to get his gift!" She caught on, looking straight down to the small boy to walk up the steps, but he only stood there nervously. We all waited on him, but we saw Mirabel come out by his side, holding his hand and walking with him up the steps. Me and my Mother watched in Awe, as in for my Father, he watched with pure anger and jealousy.

Once they were up, Antonio promised to use his Gift for Good and the Family, and the next thing you knew, he walked up to the door carefully and slowly and placed his hand on the doorknob, causing it to glow and sparkle up. Everyone in the crowd gasped in shock, while Abuela and her Family sighed in relief, probably because they're happy he got his gift. Poor Mirabel, I wonder what her gift would be if she had got hers. Antonio had begun to talk to a peacock "Uh-Huh. Uh-Huh! I understand You!" He spoke to the bird "Of Course They can Come!" He agreed, then a bunch of animals flew through the house and to Antonio, me dodging one of them running past me "We have a New Gift!" Abuela cheered, causing all of us to cheer and clap happily "Woohoo!!!" I screamed and clapped more. "Come! Come!" She invited, and we all followed her into Antonio's new room.

We went inside to be greeted by a jungle, and boy the room was huge! It was bigger than the outside of the house! "THE INSIDE IS BIGGER THAN THE OUTSIDE!?" A little girl screamed, I laughed. As I walked a little forward, I tripped on a rock I didn't notice, and with that, I tripped. When I expected pain to hit me, I never felt it, instead I felt two arms wrap around my body to keep me from falling. I looked up and noticed that the one who caught me...

Was...

"Mirabel!?" I questioned, she suddenly did an awkward smile and snorted, helping me back on my feet "Awww what's wrong? Expecting a beautiful knight and shining armor to save you from your unpleasant fall?" She joked, I bursted into laughter "No, No! I was just expecting it to be-" "Me?~" I was cut off by Camilo sneaking up behind me. I blushed while speedily hiding behind Mirabel, she was confused, but looked at Camilo "Hmmmm. I see." She spoke, then she suddenly whispered in his ear. By him hearing what she said, it caused him to shapeshift into a bunch of random townsfolk before blushing and running off. She turned around and faced me "W-What did you tell him?" I asked "Oooh Nothing!" She sarcastic replied, I shrugged it off as nothing.

After Antonio had finished having lots of fun in his jungle, he came by the Family as a person behind a camera prepared to take the picture. They all said their Family's Last name before the camera flashed, signalling that the picture was done, but I saw on Mirabel's expression that she was sad that she wasn't in the picture. I was sad as well, they only left her out the picture because she didn't have a gift, but that's the thing! She's way more special than just a simple gift, she's part of the Family! She matters! She doesn't need to have something special in order to show up in something special, you being around is all that matters, to show that your loved and cared for. I patted her shoulder and hugged her, she was taken aback from the sudden action, but warmly returned the hug, wrapping her arms around me "You still matter Mirabel, I promise." I whispered to her "Thank you, uuuuuuuh...." She pulled out the hug, her arms on my shoulders, she awkwardly tried to speak-
