[03] Truth Behind Wedding
"Look, Yolanda. This is not what I wanted either-" He was cut off with another punch sent his way as Yolanda, his groomsman glared at him.
"Not what you wanted? Who are you not to want a woman like her?" The words rolled out of his tongue as he seethed in anger.
This man really loved Cecilia with all his heart. It was shame, really. A shame that she had not seen through his love for her.
Was this fate? Was all four of us fated to be entangled in this horrible destiny of not being allowed to be with who we really hold dear to our heart?
This is so fucked up.
"God damn it, Yolanda. Hear me out before you punch me, will you?" He responded, wiping off the blood with the back of his sleeve.
With folded arms, he continued to glare at him with a 'lie to me and you are dead' look. I shivered slightly. Oh god, I would never want to land myself in that kind of situation where I wouldn't know if I would be alive or dead in the next morning.
He sighed, "Our marriage is an arrangement made by our parents. It is a collaboration to merge our businesses for both parties' benefits. We are just like pawns in this game, you get me?"
"You think I would want to steal your goddess away from you? No, I don't even love her in the first place. The one I love, even until today is Karen." He murmured, holding onto his shoulders to steady himself while his broad shoulders shook violently as though he was crying.
Covering my lips, I withheld my sobs as I watched him from where I stood. It was until the back door opened did I jumped slightly.
A plump woman who was holding onto a bowl of water was looking at me with a skeptical look. "What are you doing here, young lady?"
Wiping away my tears, I quickly shook my head and apologized before rushing forward, only to be caught by both men.
Shit just got real this time.
"Karen?" His eyes softened at the sight of me. I must be looking like an idiot right now, standing in the middle of nowhere like a deer caught in the headlights.
"I-I..." I trailed off, not knowing what to say. I can't even think properly right now.
"Seems like your goddess is here. My advice to you is to hold onto the woman you love for your entire lifetime and never let her go, bro." Yolanda said, breaking the silence as he slapped his back with a tight smile.
He nodded, returning the smile and waved at him. As he left, his eyes turned back to me with a small smile. "Karen." He repeated, breathing heavily as he continued to stare at me.
God, he still looked the same with his unshaved stubbles and sharp jawline. He still looked masculine even in the casual clothes he was wearing.
"Like what you see?" He teased, making me look away as I hid my smile. He was still the smart ass I knew, even though I had missed his cocky remarks.
His warm hand reached my cheek, tilting my head to look at him. "Karen." He said again, eyes softening at the sight of me.
My eyes flickered back and forth, sensing a glint of determination in his dark orbs. He leaned in and locked lips with mine, pulling my body towards him with ease.
Without a need to be asked, I responded to the kiss and tilted my head to the side, allowing myself to deepen the kiss.
Our breaths mingled with each other as the desire and lust between us grew with each second passed. "Smith." I whispered against him, feeling a smile appearing on his lips as he kissed his way down my neck.
"God, I missed you so much, baby." He grunted in response, moving his lips back to mine in a swift move. I pulled away, feeling his lips giving mine another soft kiss before he followed suit.
I panted heavily, staring at him through lust-filled orbs. As much as I hated to admit, I was easily turned on even though we were standing in the middle of nowhere.
It seemed as though he always had that effect on me.
He leaned down and was about to capture my lips again when I held onto him with guilt twisting in my guts that I was kissing the man who was getting married in two day's away. "Wait, what about your wedding?"
"Fuck that wedding. I didn't want it to happen in the first place. I just want you and nothing else." He murmured against my neck as he pulled me in for a bone-crushing embrace.
"But what about Cecilia? She's still your fiancée." I retorted back, feeling guilty even more. "It was because of her that we broke up. She can be with Yolanda for all I care. They were once high school sweethearts anyway." He shrugged it off as if it was nothing.
I pulled back and looked at him with mischief. "So, what are you suggesting?" I asked, entwining our fingers together as I basked in the warmth emitted from his body.
He caressed my cheek with his free hand and smirked, "We can elope and run away from the wedding." This earned a punch from me.
"You're crazy. What century are we in? The 70s?" I stated, glaring at him pointedly. He groaned aloud in response before pulling me along with him as his grip on my hand tightened.
"Where are we going?" I asked while he looked towards me with a smirk of his own and winked at me before turning back to where he was going.
After climbing a set of stairs and turning down corners after corners, we finally reached a room. So, this was where he was suggesting?
Trying to get me on his bed? Cunning.
He entered the room with ease and pushed me against the wall before kicking the door close. "You look so cute when you are mad." He whispered, caressing my left cheek with the back of his hand.
"Don't you always say that every time I get mad? What antics are you trying to pull, Francis?" I taunted, smirking at him.
