Chapter 12
"Look at me"
At those words, your stomach and heart dropped. You felt that weird burning pain in your chest that you only felt in dire situations. You were still looking at the floor. The silence strangled you, preventing you from speaking. All you could do was slowly look up. Your head was up towards him, but your eyes were anywhere but his. He spoke again in his deep, but clear, voice. "Look at me" you shivered. You reluctantly dragged your eyes to his. His pupils were doing that thing again. Small to big. Cold to warm. Evil to good. Dark to light. His face was pulled into a painful grimace, his cheek twitching slightly. He leaned down, eyes still going crazy. You forced yourself to not lean away. You stood strong. Now, you no longer had to look up. He moved from kneeling to sitting criss-cross in front of you, never taking his eyes off of yours. He seemed to be moving so cautiously. He balled his hands in his lap. Feeling as if you should, you also sat criss cross. Now, with Enki sitting in front of you, you felt oddly calm. His eyes had now settled on the ones of your friend, Enki. The one who had smiled gently when you had given him that flower. The one who had gently lulled you to sleep. The one who you hoped to see when you came down here. Your friend. You don't know why, but you put your hand out like you were giving a high five. He carefully put his palm against yours. He raised his other hand. You put your hand against his. So there you sat, palm to palm with Enki. You no longer heard the ringing silence, instead focusing on him. His eyes were no longer flicking between sizes. They were calm and constant. His deep, careful breathing matched with yours. You looked at your hands. You chuckled. "What?" Enki asked with a smirk. You looked up at him. "My hands look so small compared to yours." Upon this, Enki looked at his hands. They were, indeed, much bigger than yours. He laughed lightly. "That they do. Maybe it's because you're so small" he teased. You gasped, lightly slapping him on the arm, feigning hurt. "Or maybe it's because you're so big." He nodded. His smile slightly faded, as did yours. You both knew why you were here. You were the first to speak. "Something's wrong with you" He sighed and nodded. "What's wrong?" His head was now bowed down, avoiding eye contact. No response. "Enki, what's wrong?" He was slightly shaking now. He scooted away from you. You were confused and worried. "What's wrong?" you repeated a bit more sternly, crawling towards him. He stopped scooting. He reached for his head. You grabbed his arms before he could reach. He then looked at you. His eyes were big and glassy. He allowed you to grab his face. You could feel him shaking ever so slightly. you searched his eyes for an answer. Any answer. You found none. He stopped shaking after a while. You then looked him in the eyes, locking his with yours. "What's wrong?" you asked once more. You were quite surprised when you actually got an answer. It sounded strangled and forced. "Him... he is.... He... cont...roll....he put... tal..is...man... force.... con...tr...oo.... I can't s....op...." You very worried now, scared, even. "Who? Who is he?" you asked urgently. " His eyes were now flicking between sizes again. He response sounded like he was being strangled. "Liu...Wei" Confusion flashed across your face. Liu Wei. You took a mental note. Right now you have to deal with Enki. His eyes were flashing now. You remembered they did this when he turned into what seemed like a different person. He could snap. He could kill you. You didn't care. You panicked for a moment, not knowing what to do. You then did something you very rarely do, even to people you have known for years. You hugged him. You couldn't reach all the way around, but you hugged him. He was shocked for a moment. His huge arms then lowered carefully around you, holding you gently, as if you would break at the slightest touch. You let out a breathy chuckle. He was so big and strong and powerful, yet he treated you with such care. You were a person that was not much for any physical contact, but, for some unknown reason, you were fine with this. His breathing slowed and he relaxed. He held you securely to his chest, not smushing you, not hurting you, just holding you. Being this close to him amplified the size difference. He was so tall and you were so small. But you didn't care. You just stayed like that. Neither of you wanted to let go. It seemed as if you did, something would break. So you stayed for what seemed like hours. You probably would have stayed for hours if your phone wouldn't have rung. You both jumped, startled by the sudden noise. He let you go. You picked up, now strangely nervous. "Hello" you said, trying to sound normal. A robotic like voice said something along the lines of "You could get a great deal on-" you cut it off by hanging up. You glanced at the time. 1:30. You gasped. "What?" asked Enki. "I have to go! I'm still at work!" you said, quickly grabbing your bag and the ring of keys. You walked up to him. You smiled before saying "Bye" he smirked and patted you head. Shaking his hand off, you pouted. He laughed lightly. You closed and locked the cell door. You waved one final time before walking off. Your mind drifted to what Enki had said. You stopped yourself, though, deciding to think about it later. You walked briskly up the stairs and closed the door. You began to walk to Samon's office. Even as you were talking with Samon, however, you couldn't help but think about the name Enki had said.
"Liu Wei"
Okay, that was eventful! Once again, a slight cliff hanger, but not as bad as the last one, right! *nervously laughs* Anyways, the next chapter should be out by either 4/11 or 4/12. So YEET.
