Steve didn't know what time it was and he honestly didn't care. His eyes were red from crying but again, he didn't care. He had just found out that his best friend had been murdered at the hands of his brother and that snake.
Steve didn't know what to do anymore. He just didn't. While consumed in his depressed thoughts, he eventually fell into a restless sleep.
Steve was running in the forest trying to find a tree he could hide in. He spotted a huge oak tree that would take hours just to climb. At least for a normal person.
Steve grinned and started climbing the monstrosity. He was quick and zipped up the tree's trunk in a matter of seconds. He climbed over some of the tree's branches until he found one that was totally covered and out of sight.
He sat there for a couple of minutes until he heard the rustling of leaves close to him. He tensed up in fear hoping that he wouldn't find him. He could hear the rustling coming closer and closer until a faced popped in almost scaring Steve out of the tree.
"Steve? What are you doing here?" Brine looked at him confused.
"This is my hiding spot. Go find your own." Steve declared. All of the sudden the chant that could scare any child ran through the woods making Brine huddle up close to Steve.
"Ready or not, here I come!" It was distant but still a very distinct voice. Brine was smiling but still seemed worried and anxious.
They were both totally silent so that the seeker wouldn't find them. When they thought it was all clear Steve turned to Brine. "Go find another place to hide." Steve whispered. Even though they knew he wasn't close, they still didn't want to risk getting caught.
"I can't, he will find me!" Brine exclaimed. Steve narrowed his eyes at his twin brother. "Please." Brine pleaded. Steve's glare softened and he smiled at his brother.
"Fine. I'll let you stay but remember, you owe me." Brine grinned thankfully at his brother and they returned to complete silence. Several long minutes passed when Brine turned to his brother.
"Do you think he got lost?" Brine had a worried expression that he usually had when Drew was the seeker and hadn't found them yet.
"I'm sure he is fine. This is a big forest, so it might take him a while but he'll find us." Steve assured. Brine nodded but still seemed a bit occupied with his thoughts.
"He will find-"
"STEVE!" Drew bursted from the canopy and screamed right in Steve's face. Steve was so startled by this that he did fall from the tree, but it was almost in slow motion. Drew continually screamed "Steve" over and over again. Brine stared down at him with no expression at all as Steve neared the ground closer and closer...
"Ah!" Steve jolted awake and looked around at his surroundings in a forensic state. When he saw that he was still in the cave he settled back down in the same spot he had been in. There was silence, just like in the tree, and Steve let his thoughts take over. But they were interrupted just a few seconds later.
"Steve?" He could hear a booming voice from down the cave and knew who it was. But he wasn't going to answer him because, well because he didn't care.
"Steve!" The person was getting closer to where Steve was sitting. Out of the corner of his eye he could see Notch holding a torch looking frantically for his brother.
"Steve!" Notch ran over to Steve's side and stared worriedly into his eyes. Steve could see the concern his brother had for him but it was pointless.
"Steve, I'm so sorry. I know how much Andrew meant to you-"
"No," Steve interrupted, "how much he meant to us." Notch's concern grew as Steve's eyes started to water again.
"Us?" Notch asked quietly. Steve nodded.
"Me and Hero. Remember, Drew was our closest friend. Except..." Steve closed his eyes as he remembered all the times Drew and them would play hide and seek and all sorts of other activities.
"Except he was closer to Herobrine than he was with me. He was like his other brother which is why I don't understand this. Herobrine wouldn't kill Andrew, but I guess that last shred of a heart he had is finally gone." Steve turned his head slightly so he was staring at Notch.
"I know how badly this affected you-"
"No! You don't!" Steve yelled making Notch back up a bit, "No, even I don't know. Drew was the only person who ever really understood what it's like to be a 'semi-god'." Steve leaned his head back and started to get lost in thought.
"Come on, I'll take you to your house." Notch stood up and held his hand out for Steve to take, but instead he just stared at it.
"I'm staying here." Steve mumbled. Notch shook his head firmly towards Steve.
"No, you need to be indoors with family and friends." Notch said.
"No, what I need to be is alone." Steve growled and turned away from his brother. Notch sighed heavily and stepped past Steve.
"Fine, but I'm still going to see Alex." Notch didn't wait for an answer as he walked out of the cave and away from Steve.
Steve watched him vanish out of the cave and when he was gone, Steve returned to his thoughts.
Not all is what you think.
Steve jumped at this because it wasn't the evil hiss he was used to. It was a very deep voice that almost didn't sound human.
Who is this? Steve started to worry that there was another evil presence who could access his mind. But the voice didn't return making Steve let out a sigh of relief.
But Steve could only contemplate what that meant. Not all is what you think. Steve didn't know what to think of this but decided that it was probably something with his subconscious.
Steve slowly laid himself to the ground and closed his puffy, sore eyes. He eventually fell into an uneasy sleep.

Notch stepped up to the door and took in a deep breath before knocking. He waited a few moments before the door was answered. He was expecting Alex to answer the door but instead came face to face with Casey. When she saw him she rolled her eyes and stepped to the side for him to come in. Notch came in but glanced over at her.
"Thanks," Notch said with a hint of sarcasm. She caught that sarcasm and glared at him before shutting the door and sitting on the couch. He didn't see Dare anywhere which was odd. Notch turned to Casey who was watching TV.
"Where's your dad?" He asked. She didn't even look up from the television to answer him.
"He had to go help one of his friends who lives in that town a couple miles away. He got a new shipment of animals and Darrell promised to go help him." Casey explained. She sat on the couch with a scowl that she seemed to always have. She's an odd one. Notch thought.
"Yeah...is Alex here?" Notch asked.
"In the kitchen. Hey, wasn't Steve supposed to be with you or something?" Casey took her eyes off the screen and stared at him with curiosity.
"Uh, he's in a...predicament." Notch rubbed the back of his neck as Casey's eyes narrowed at him with suspicion. Eventually she went back to what she was doing previously and ignored Notch completely.
Notch shook his head at her then walked into the kitchen to see Alex making two sandwiches. Notch waited patiently until Alex was done to speak up.
"Alex?" She jumped slightly and turned around to see Notch. She let out a sigh of relief and chuckled a bit afterwards.
"You scared me. Why are you here? I thought you and Steve were supposed to be at the castle all day. It's only noon now." Alex said. Notch looked at her with a worried expression and her whole demeanor changed.
"Where's Steve?" Alex asked with much less enthusiasm. Notch let out a heavy sigh as he remembered Steve's reaction to the news.
"He's in the cave." Alex's eyes widened in disbelief and worry as he said that.
"Why is he in the cave?" She asked almost hesitantly.
"There was uh...some news...that kind of involves Steve." Notch looked away from Alex's gaze and settled on the floor.
"Come in the living room." Alex walked out of the kitchen with Notch following right behind. Casey looked up from the TV and stared at them with a confused expression.
"Do you want me to leave?" She asked. At the same time Alex said 'no' Notch said 'yes' making Alex glare at him.
"She is a close friend of Steve, I think this kind of involves her too." Alex said.
"This is more of a family matter, Alex. It doesn't involve her at all." Notch argued. Before this conversation turned into an argument, Casey stood up making Notch and Alex go quiet.
"I'll go to the guest bedroom. This sounds like a family matter." Casey smiled at them and left the room. Notch waited until he heard the door shut before turning back to Alex.
"So what happened to Steve?" Alex asked.
"When we were up in the castle, Jill and I showed him the new clues. One of them was a picture of a symbol that was carved in the dirt at the last attack. It was just an A with an arrow through the middle of it. And that's all I saw. But then Steve noticed something else." Notch's tone of voice went grave at the last sentence. He almost couldn't say it.
"What did he notice?" Alex asked.
"Instead of an arrow, it was a name in the shape of an arrow. It said...Andrew Kite." Alex gasped as Notch looked down at the ground.
"He ran out of the castle and I looked through the files until I found the one I wanted. Andrew is dead, and Steve knew it." Notch choked out. Alex's mouth was hanging open as if she couldn't believe it.
"Andrew? You mean Steve and...his friend? From when they were kids?" Alex asked. Notch nodded solemnly as Alex tried to process all of this.
"So...Herobrine killed Steve's best friend." It didn't seem like a question, more of just a statement. Alex closed her eyes for a few seconds then opened them back up again.
"I have to go check and see if he's okay." Alex started to walk to the door but Notch stopped her before she could get to the door.
"I already tried. Just give him some time. He should be okay by morning." Alex's eyes went wide and she stared at Notch like he was crazy.
"He was kidnapped by an enderman a week ago by going into the woods! Anything can get him in the caves!" Alex yelled at him.
"I would try to get guards to stand watch but I think Steve really needs to be alone right now. Plus, he has his sword with him." Notch said. Alex shook her head and sat down on the couch.
"This is terrible. What are we gonna do?" Alex looked desperate to help Steve but had no idea how too.
Before Notch could answer there was a crash heard in the hallway and Casey was seen on the ground. She looked up with surprise and gave a sheepish smile. Notch narrowed his eyes as she got up.
"I'm sorry I didn't know you were still talking. I was going to get a drink of water and I couldn't help but overhear." Casey sneaked her way into the living room and Notch's face hardened into a scowl.
"This was a family matter. And I bet you did mean to trip up into here." Notch was upset that this girl thinks she can just get into their business anytime she wants.
Alex looked up at him with a shocked expression. "Notch!"
"Well it's true! You said you'd stay out of it and you didn't. This isn't the time for your 'cold shoulder' or rebellion or whatever the heck you do. Steve is in an emotional crisis and we are supposed to help him." Notch finished his rant and Casey moved her gaze to the floor.
"I was going to say that I could talk to him." She whispered loudly.
"If he's not going to talk to me, who is his closest family, what makes you think that you're a better option?" Notch crossed his arms and waited for her answer but was surprised when she gave it.
"I'm not a better option. I just know what it's like to loose a loved one." Casey didn't whisper it this time.
"You mean your mother?" Alex asked as gently as she could. Casey stared at her but seemed to be in another world before she answered.
"Uh...yeah. My mom. I just thought I could talk to him. Then maybe he won't be as screwed up as me." Casey glanced up at Notch with a glare before turning around to go back to her room.
"Wait," Notch said causing Casey to stop and turn back around, "you can go." Casey gave a small smile before running out the door. When she was gone Notch turned to Alex who was glaring holes into him.
"Sometimes I swear you are just like Herobrine." She said while shaking her head. Notch scoffed at her in offense and glared back at her.
"And how's that?" He asked. Alex stood up and starting walking towards her room. But before she reached the hallway she turned around with the same menacing look as before.
"You both have no filter." She turned back around and entered her room, slamming the door. Notch stood there with his mouth hanging open as he thought about what she said.
***
Casey ran through the woods trying to find the cave they were talking about. Eventually she slowed to a walk as she steamed over what Notch said to her.
"This isn't time for your 'cold shoulder' or rebellion." Well if he knew about my life, then he wouldn't get upset over my cold shoulder.
Casey kept walking and stumbled over some stone blocks so she knew she had to be getting close.
Do I have an attitude? Well you're not much better Mr. Everything has to revolve around me. I at least hope Dare is having a better day with Queen Elaine than my day has been. I didn't even get to eat my sandwich!
At that moment Casey's stomach growled but she just sighed and kept on walking. "Where is this stupid cave?" Casey asked herself. She walked a bit more when she saw a hill with a cave built on the side of it. Casey shot off in a sprint hoping to make it there in a couple of seconds.
She finally made it to the outside but stopped before she actually went in. She glanced quickly in there to see a slight glow in the back. Must be the portal. She thought.
Carefully Casey stepped in the cave and took about ten steps before she spotted Steve who was laying on the ground. She ran to his side and gently shook him.
"Steve?" All she got was a groan in return. She sighed knowing she wouldn't get anywhere with this tactic.
"Steve." She said louder and more forceful this time. Steve shifted a bit and groaned but didn't wake up. Casey grabbed one of his arms and hoisted him up so that he was sitting up instead of laying down.
Casey gently smacked the side of Steve's face making him open his eyes a bit. Casey's breath caught when she saw the full view of him. He had bloodshot eyes that were red and puffy with trails of where the tears were.
"Steve. I wanted to talk to you." Casey said in a hushed tone. Steve was fully awake and smirked at her.
"Talk to me about what, that my friend was murdered? Well Notch already tried so you might just want to go back and leave me alone." Steve brought his knees up to his chest and wrapped his arms around them. Casey moved around him and sat right next to Steve so that they were both staring at the cave wall.
"I'm not going to sit here and tell you how you should go be with your family and how it will all be alright. That's a load of B.S. that people tell you so that it lessens the blow. I'm just here to say that I've been in your position." Casey said.
"Is that supposed to make me feel better?" Steve asked with a monotone voice.
"Not exactly. I'm just saying that I'm not going to sugarcoat anything. And I'm guessing you're tired of it too." Casey replied. Steve glanced over at her with curiosity.
"The mom story isn't true, but what's your real story?" Steve asked. Casey gave him a sad smile.
"I wish I could tell you, but I can't. What I can tell you is that I've lost people in my past. Especially being an agent, I've had losses. But I'm here to tell you that if you want to talk about it, I'm always available." Casey said. Steve smirked and shook his head.
"I just don't understand. It's just, he's dead. Because of my brother, he's dead." Steve whispered. Casey looked at him not with pity, but with sympathy.
"He is, and that's something you'll have to live with. But the reason Dare and I are here is to get Herobrine. And I, personally, won't stop until we get him." Casey said with determination. Steve smiled over at her.
"We can go back home. This cave isn't comfortable." Steve said making Casey laugh.
"Notch is at your house and he's being kind of a jerk. Sure you want to go back?" Casey asked. Steve thought about it for a second when he got an idea.
"You know, I heard your stomach growl in my sleep. Have you eaten yet?" Steve asked with a chuckle.
"First off, how did you hear that? Second off, I am pretty hungry. What do you suggest?" Casey asked, causing the tension to lift.
"It was pretty loud, I bet all the animals heard it. For the food thing, why don't we stay at my place and eat random crap?" Steve asked.
Casey started laughing at that. "Yeah, I'd love to eat junk food. This may sound weird, but you're kind of like the brother I never had." Steve smiled at Casey.
"That is kind of weird because I'm your brother and apparently Dare's significant other, so I would be your brother and dad." Steve joked. Casey had a look of disgust as he said that but started laughing.
"So you ready to go? We can kick Notch out and let Alex join our depression party." Casey said. Steve nodded and got up but he still couldn't let go of Drew's death.
Casey seemed to notice Steve's distraction. "Are you sure you want to do this?" Steve looked up at her with sorrowful eyes.
"Yeah, I'll get through this." Casey gave him a small smile as they walked out of cave but something was still bugging Steve as he walked side by side with Casey.
Not all is what you think
Steve remembered when the deep voice said that and he stole a quick glance over at Casey.
She's not who I thought she was either. Steve thought with a smile. He used to think she was just a sassy agent with an attitude, but once he got to know her, she was just a simple girl with a wall she's built up over the years.
Maybe I can be the one to break that wall.

Hello my readers! I just want to apologize for this chapter because it is long and boring. I don't like it myself, but I hope the next chapters will be a lot better. This one was just to show how emotional Steve was and put in some drama, but again, sorry.
And I hope there wasn't any confusion for the three different POVs. That's another reason why I don't like this chapter. I will try to do two at most for now on but hey, you got a little bit of Casey's.
One last note. I want to thank you guys so much. 440 reads and 44 votes?! That's crazy, guys! You have no idea how grateful I am for readers like you, so thank you. I am in awe right now because of my readers.
