Four

Steve sat at the table thinking about Alex, Notch, and (unbelievably) Herobrine. As he was in the middle of his thoughts, a loud crash was heard outside. He ran to the door and saw it was the middle of the day. He walked over to the chest, grabbed his iron sword, and walked out of the house. The sun blinded him for a few seconds then settled.

He looked from side to side and saw nothing. He walked further out towards the chicken coop looking for anything out of place. Then a spark of light caught his eye in the woods.

"Hey! What are you doing?" He yelled out, hoping to get an answer. When it was obvious he wasn't going to get one, he started that way.

Again there was the spark and Steve was drawn towards it. When he got to the location of the spark, there was only a diamond sword.

"That's odd" he thought, "why would a random sword be lying here?" There was hesitation in his choice, but he slowly bent down and grabbed the sword.

There were no scratches or red stone currents underneath, so it had to be genuine. He stood up and examined the sword a little more closely. The sword was a very good one-he hadn't seen a sword this good since his childhood.

Back into the woods, an archer readied his bow for the attack. The person smiled at himself before releasing the arrow. The soft whoosh cut the forest sounds and when Steve figured it out, the whoosh had vanished into the forest.

The attacker walked over towards Steve, where he lay on the ground surrounded by blurred images. The man picked up the diamond sword and pulled the arrow out. "Don't worry" he whispered. "You are in good hands." The man then grabbed his bag and threw Steve in there without so much as a grunt.

Steve tried to move his head or at least make a sound, but his effort ended in a dreamless sleep.

Notch paced about in his castle thinking about the morning. Maybe he was being a little too sensitive. Steve was only trying to help. He looked up to see a guard at the front door.

"What is it?" He stopped pacing across the floor and waited for the answer.

"Sir, your sister Alexandra called and apologized about your brother Steven. She also mailed you the rest of your breakfast." Notch chuckled and shook his head.

"Oh, Alex. She always was creative. Thank you Gordon, I needed that."

"You are quite welcome sir. I will send anymore messages if I get any." Notch nodded in approval and Gordon left.

"I don't know what I'd do without Gordon. Anyways, I should probably call Steve and apologize." So he walked over to his phone and dialed Steve's number. The line rang until it went to voicemail. "Hmm...that's not like him to ignore his phone. Maybe he is busy." Notch hung up the phone and sat on his throne. He took in a deep breath in and out.

"Well, I guess I better get back to business." Notch walked out of the throne room and into his meeting room. Not knowing what to start with, he decided to work on the Herobrine case.

"I just don't understand how he would get a girlfriend. I mean, he isn't bad looking but he's- he's Herobrine. Everyone is scared of him." He kept talking to himself and didn't even acknowledge the dark figure in the corner. After waiting a few seconds, the figure coughed to get his attention. He looked over then jumped into attack mode.

"Who are you and how did you get past the alarms?" Notch had his hand on the hilt of the sword ready to unsheathe it. Unfortunately the attacker saw.

"Now Notch, that's not a good idea. I thought you'd recognize me. Especially since you saw me this morning." Notch tilted his head to the side in confusion. Then it hit him.

"Oh! Jill, I'm sorry. I've been very busy since the case." Jill walked over and put her hand over his shoulder.

"I know it's hard. I've been trying to piece together everything. Even following their trail, I couldn't find any more clues. She's pretty good at protecting her boy toy." Jill said the last two words with disgust.

"Well you are my best detective. I'm sure you'll find something sooner or later. It's not like Herobrine to hide from a challenge." Notch looked over at Jill who was smiling down at him. He gave one back in return.

"It isn't, but you know how a woman can change a man."

"As much as I hate my brother, seeing him turn into lover would be awful. It would be like Steve getting a 100 on an IQ test." His remark gained a laugh from Jill. When she stopped, her brown eyes glittered in the light.

"Well I have to go. This case won't solve itself and I seriously want to find that woman and give her a backhand to the face." She brought her hand up and smacked the air imitating her smack.

"Well when we find her there will be more than just a smack. Especially for Herobrine." Notch stood up and walked over to the file cabinet. Looking through the letters, he grabbed a file labeled Herobrine Case #85 File Q. He walked back to his desk and opened the file. Jill let out a heavy sigh.

"Well don't work yourself too hard. I'm going to my office to work." She waved goodbye and left Notch in the room all alone.

He grabbed the pictures of the woman. Her hair was dirt brown, she had green eyes and looked to be in her mid twenties. Notch shook his head.

"Why would a girl like her want to be with a man like him?" He thought over and over until one simple word came to mind. Revenge.

Hey guys. I know I left you on a cliffhanger with Steve but I'll try to update the next chapter as soon as possible. This book also has 14 reads and I am grateful. I'm only 4 chapters in so that's great.

See you guys later!
