Lacey's POV

March 8th

Yesterday I remembered everything that happened my senior year of high school. It was such much pain, and hurt, and drama. I can't even keep up with it all.

I snap out of my thoughts when the door opens and in walks my mom and brother.

"Hi." I say sitting up on my hospital bed.

"Hey sis." The boy hugs me. "If you don't remember still I'm Duke your twin brother and that's our mom, Samantha. But our dad died."

"I know he died and I'm sorry I still don't really remember you guys. But we do look all look alike so I knew that I was related to you in some way."

"That's good honey." Samantha says and hugs me. "We actually came here for an important reason." She walks over to the door then opens it and turns off the light.

Everyone who always comes to see me is here plus Jase and Ivy. I think Jase's mom is holding a cake with a ton of candles on it.

"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Lacey. Happy birthday to you." They all sing.

I gasp in surprise. I don't even remember my own birthday. I timidly smile.

"Blow out your candles sweetie and make a wish." My mom says while she kisses my forehead.

I look at the cake and it says happy 20th birthday Lacey. I don't even remember 18 years of my life. I just remember my senior year and college year. Judging by where I am now...I would say my life before the accident was complicated.

I wish for my life now to be better than it was before I was in the car accident.

I close my eyes and blow out the candles. Everyone claps even Ivy. Aw she's so cute.

Two hours later everyone leaves except Jase and Ivy.

"J can I hold her?" I ask him.

"Of course." He sits her in my lap then sits beside me on my hospital bed.

"Hey Ivy." I say while bouncing her up and down on my lap. She giggles and claps her hands together.

Knock knock.

"Come in." I say.

The Doctor walks in, "Hello. Lacey is it okay if I talk to you in private?"

I nod at her then watch Jase get off the bed and put on his jacket. I put Ivy's jacket on her, kiss her cheek, then hand her to Jase. The doctor smiles as she watches me with Ivy and Jase.

"I'll go drop her off at my mom and dads then I'll be back." Jase kisses my forehead then leaves and I'm alone with the doctor.

She pulls up a chair and then sits beside me.

"You have a very lovely husband or boyfriend and child." She says referring to Jase and Ivy. I don't know if I should correct her and tell her that Jase isn't my boyfriend/ husband and Ivy isn't my baby. Oh well.

"Thanks. So what did you need to talk to me about?" I ask scared.

"Okay sweetie. I'm afraid I have some bad news that we found out. And I wanted to tell you alone and you can make the decision to tell anyone else when and if you want to."

"Um okay. Is the news really bad?" I ask scared.

She puts her hand on top of mine and sighs.

"Well sweetheart it's news that will change your whole life."

"Okay. I'm ready to hear it."

Jase's POV

Once I leave Ivy at my parents house I head off to my apartment. It's a two bedroom and one and a half bathroom, with a full kitchen and a balcony.

I know my mom said she didn't want me to leave home yet but once college started and I came back from New York I wanted to be independent. So I bought my own apartment. My parents gave me a lot of money to help out. Plus they bought everything I needed for Ivy. She has her own room that Samantha, my mom, and Chasity decorated.

I step out my car then run up the stairs and unlock my apartment door. Stepping inside, I put my keys on the counter and hurry to my room. I take off my shirt because when I was getting Ivy out the car she threw up baby formula on me. After I take a quick shower, I put on clothes and run back out the apartment not forgetting my keys.

I hurry back to the hospital and take the elevator. Once I'm in Lacey's room I see its empty.

"Princess? Lace?" I hear crying in the bathroom so I walk over to it and knock on the door.

"Princess you okay?"

"Yeah... yes... I'm fine Jase." I hear her stuffy voice say.

"Princess let me in."

She sniffles for another minute then unlocks the door but she doesn't open it.

I sigh then open the door to see her frozen in front of the sink staring at the mirror crying. She wearing shorts and a bra.

"Lace what's wrong?"

She points to a long scar running from her right hip to her left under her belly button.

"I see it Lace. What about it?"

"What a-about I-it? In the car accident a freaking huge piece of glass from the truck was stuck in my fucking stomach. I have a fucking scar on my face and now this long ass scar on my stomach. Can I get uglier?!" She yells with tears streaming down her face. She cusses when she's angry.

"Princess you're not ugly. You are beautiful. In fact I think those scars make you even more beautiful then you were before." I pull her into a hug and rub her back.

She cries harder into my chest.

"Is there something more to that scar then you're telling me?"

She nods.

"Well what is it? You can tell me."

She shakes her head and hugs me tighter.

"Baby please tell me. I want to help you." I kiss her head.

She cries more and shakes her head.

"Okay how about I guess?"

She shrugs.

"Okay um yeah I have no idea."

She laughs lightly along with me.

She pulls away from the hug and I look into her red teary eyes.

"I c-can't... I won't... I-I'm n-not... Able." She stutters with more tears falling down her face.

"Okay you're not able... To what?"

"H-have..." She sighs and starts to cry harder. She rubs her stomach and hugs me tightly.

I hug her back and think of what she just meant. She said she's not able to have... Then she rubbed her stomach. Wait a second.

"You said you're not able. Are you not able to have kids... You're not able to get pregnant."

She nods and hugs me as right as she can. My mind goes blank and we don't talk. All you hear in the bathroom is Lacey's cries.

Lacey was in a car accident. She just got out of a coma last week. Her birthday is today and she just found out she isn't able to become pregnant.
