epilouge

I sigh happily as my parents help me carry my bags to my new apartment, whom I'll be sharing with Alice as we will be attending New York University together.

Actually, I applied for UCLA and NYU, and got accepted to both, but when I thought about it, I chose NYU, because I'll be closer to my parents though my hometown is actually in California.

Both Indiana and Grace will be attending UCLA, so we won't be seeing each other that often anymore.

Grace, Indiana and I are now closer than we've ever been, and now Alice and I have become great friends ever since high school.

"Av!" exclaims Alice as she enters our apartment and embraces me to a hug. "Can't believe that we're actually already here." I watch as her bright blue eyes light up in excitement.

I mimic the grin that is on her face. "Neither can I."

After all of our luggage and things have been loaded, my parents and her mom are about to go home, so the both of us followed them outside to the parking lot.

"Bye, Av," my dad says, embracing me into a hug. I try my best not to cry as I hug him. "Be good, don't break any rules."

I laugh as I hear my dad say that. "Fingers crossed," I reply, crossing both of my fingers in front of him.

It's now my mom's turn to hug me. "Don't forget to visit during the holidays," she says.

"I will," I promise as I'm still clinging onto her, inhaling her signature smell as it never fails to calm me down. "I'll text you every day."

Alice's mom also talk with her and after they're done, her mother embraces me to a hug. "Take care," she says before leaving at the same time as my parents.

I sigh as Alice and I unpack our things and arranging our rooms. Soon, I feel a vibration coming from my pocket, so I fish my phone out and see that it's a message from Grayson.

Sorry late reply! I've just got in my dorm :)

I softly smile at his message and type a reply to him. We've been chatting since I was in the car, going here.

Who would've thought we would still be friends until now? During highschool, we'd sometimes meet and hang out with each other, with Indiana, Grace and his friends most of the times.

Grayson will be attending MIT with some of his friends and he's also just arrived to his place, like me.

"Ah," I turn to see Alice smirking at me as I put my phone down. I feign a frown at her. "You're chatting with him."

"So?" I say. I fear that she will bring up that time during high school.

"You still like him?" she asks, still not removing the smirk off her face. I think my face's color has reddened.

Though Grayson and I had gone to different high school, we would still hang out with each other, and there was a time where I had formed a crush on him for two months until he said that he liked Indiana. I wasn't angry at him, and it just disappeared. At that time I knew Indiana also sort of liked him, so I was happy for her.

I didn't have a massive crush on him. He's just like a tiny crush that everybody has but never seriously thought about being with. Now, Indiana and Grayson have been going out for a while. I'm very happy for them.

"Heck no," I exclaim loudly and threw a pillow at her face. "Can you mind your own business, miss-who-is-shorter-than-me-now," I say with a smug smile. That shut her up.

Throughout freshman and mid-sophomore, she had always been taller than me and teased me about it. Miraculously, I have grown a few good inches during sophomore year, and now she only reaches my chin.

We've unpacked everything at about five-thirty and decide to go out and walk around to see what stores are near us.

"You done, Aveline?" asks Alice as she leans on he wall, with our key twirling around her fingers.

Looking back at my room to see if I've forgot anything, I nod my head and walk out of our apartment.

"Seems like there are other students moving here," she says as we walk down the hallway, hearing boys' voices getting louder and louder.

"Hopefully one's cute," I mutter jokingly to Alice, who just rolls her eyes with a laugh.

"Scratch that," she instead replies. "Hopefully there's at least two of them that's cute."

With a laugh, I nod my head in agreement. It gets louder as we nearly reach the end of the hall to the elevator.

I glance at the group of boys as they come closer and pass us. There are only three of them and yet they make this much noise.

"—yeah, that was just—" the boy in the middle says with a laugh, stopping abruptly as his jade eyes meets mine.

I've never forgotten those jade eyes, even after all these years. I can't believe that I'd be seeing him again. My hands start to feel clammy and my heart is beating fast in a milisecond.

Not daring to look back, after looking away I lower down my head and get in the elevator with Alice who doesn't seem to notice what's just happened.

I guess that the small feeling I had for him has always stayed deep inside of me.
