thirty seven

Jungkook did not like the way Park Seulgi smiled at his boyfriend. If you ask him then he'd say for sure that her smile was as fake as her nails. She had to have a reason to be here, pretending to be nice to Taehyung. May it be for jimin's sake or something else, he didn't care. He knows that she's going to hurt Taehyung just the way she did back in the principal's office but this time he'll protect Taehyung. However, jungkook was confused with the way jimin was looking at him. He looked apologetic. Not towards Taehyung, but towards him. Jungkook clearly saw the way jimin shook his head a little, gulping.

"Honestly, Mrs.Park, you don't have to apologize." Taehyung said. "I understand you were only worried about jimin."

Park Seulgi took two steps forward and gently held Taehyung's hand.

"Your words make my heart more guilty Taehyung-ah, please let me apologize to not only you but your father as well."

Taehyung was about to protest again but Seulgi didn't let him.

"Would you and your father come for dinner at our house, please?"

Taehyung's eyes widened at that along with the rest of the boys. Jungkook looked at jimin who shared the same expression. When jimin noticed jungkook looking at him he vigorously shook his head, as if to say he had no idea his mother would invite Taehyung over for dinner.

"Mrs-"

"Please don't say no Taehyung. I really want to convey my sincere apologies to both of you."

Taehyung could see the sincerity in her eyes accompanied by tears. He didn't have the heart to decline her. How could he? All she wanted was to apologize for something she did unintentionally. Also keeping the fact that she helped him renew the bond with his father in mind, Taehyung wanted to thank her for it too. That's why he nodded, smiling brightly at her.

"Oh thank you so much!" Seulgi sighed letting a tear or two fall. She quickly brought her hand up to swipe the tears away.

"But Mrs.Park, my father is out of station and he'll be back tomorrow. Is it okay if we keep the dinner day after?"

"Of course." Seulgi grinned, caressing Taehyung's cheek. "Jimin was right. You're a forgiving person."

Taehyung looked behind her towards her son. Jimin flinched when they made eye contact and immediately averted his gaze.

"And Jungkook." Jungkook's head snapped towards Seulgi. "I'll make sure my son doesn't hit on your boyfriend."

Jimin sighed.

Jungkook didn't return her smile or say anything to her. He just glared at her as she waved goodbye and left with her son following behind her. He chewed the inside of his cheek turning around and angrily walking away from his group. Mark and mingyu called after him and he heard footsteps approaching him. A soft small hand grabbed his forearm but he jerked it away harshly, knowing exactly who's touch it was.

"Kookie please." Taehyung said ready to run after jungkook again, but jungkook had stopped and was already looking at him angrily.

"Please what?!" Jungkook shouted. "What the hell is wrong with you?!"

"What did I-"

"You agreed to have dinner at jimin's house Taehyung! That's what you did!"

"Jungkook stop overreacting. I'll be going there with my father. And you heard her too, she won't let-"

"I don't care!" Jungkook gritted his teeth and left Taehyung again.

"Jungkook stop." Taehyung called. "Jungkook."

Jungkook didn't listen because he was fuming. He wanted to walk away from Taehyung before he did or said something harmful. His mind was fogged with the thoughts of his boyfriend and jimin having dinner together, laughing and having a good time. Just like how they used to be. Jungkook's raged steps didn't know where they were going, all they knew was that he had to get away, away from Taehyung.

"JUNGKOOK!"

Taehyung's voiced boomed through his ears right when he felt a harsh tug on his schoolbag. He was being pulled back by his bag. His eyes caught a car zooming pass him with a loud horn that he hadn't heard before and multiple footsteps. He felt two tiny fists hitting his arm.

"STOP DOING THAT ASSHOLE!" Taehyung yelled.

Jungkook was shocked to say the least. His mind had blacked out and now he felt like he found his vision again.

"I'm sorry.." jungkook whispered dazedly.

"You're sorry? Are you jungkook? Is it so difficult to look at the damn road while walking?!"

"Tae... Baby, I'm so sorry. I'm so fucking sorry." Jungkook embraced Taehyung tightly within his arms, closing his eyes and sniffing his boyfriend's hair. The deep breath he took helped fill his mind with the scent of Taehyung's vanilla shampoo which calmed him down drastically.

"I didn't mean to yell at you." Jungkook said softly into Taehyung's hair.

"I know.."

"I don't want you anywhere near jimin..." Jungkook kissed Taehyung's crown.

"Kookie, please understand me. And please trust me."

"I trust you baby, I trust you more than anyone. It's just.. I don't trust jimin." Jungkook sighed.

"I'll be with Papa all the time Kookie. You don't have anything to worry about." Taehyung smiled, pulling away to cup jungkook's cheeks. "You're not jimin, remember?"

Jungkook grinned and nodded. Taehyung chuckled at the light blush that adorned jungkook's cheeks. He looked so cute that Taehyung wanted to kiss him right there, no matter who sees them. He doesn't care anymore.

But what if jungkook pushed him away?

Taehyung stepped out of jungkook's arms, still smiling. His fist hit jungkook's head lightly. Someone cleared their throat and jungkook's attention was instantly on his friends who were glaring at him with their arms crossed over their chests.

"Can you stop with that blind walk?!" Jaehyun yelled.

"We need to get rid of this thrilling habit of his." Eunwoo taunted with a disparaging smile and if looks could kill, jungkook would've been dead the moment he saw Eunwoo's deadly expression.

"Sorry guys." Jungkook gulped scratching the back of his neck.

"Whatever. Let's go eat that rainbow pastry now." Yeonjun grabbed his best friend and walked ahead of the group.

"You have a lot of explaining to do." Eunwoo glared at jungkook. "But most of all, you need to stop acting like you own him."

"Eunwoo-"

"Shut it. You know I'm right." Eunwoo walked away before jungkook could protest.

Mark patted jungkook's shoulder saying that it's alright. Jungkook only nods. He knows Eunwoo is right. He knows and feels guilty. But he was not lying when he said he trusts Taehyung more than anyone. God he loves that boy! How could he not trust him?! But the thing that he likes the most about Taehyung is his forgiving nature. Which is the exact thing causing problems right now. Jungkook wanted to get rid of his thoughts and started walking along with his friends towards the sweet treats café. Once they reached the café he was surprised when Taehyung grabbed his arm, smiling at him and dragged him to select a pastry for himself. Taehyung teased him for being boring and selecting a chocolate pastry. While he bragged about his rainbow pastry that eunwoo bought for him.

They all sat in a booth near the window as always and Taehyung immediately started blabbering about his pastry. Yeonjun glared at Taehyung taking a cookie from jaehyun's plate and stuffing it in Taehyung's mouth to shut him up. Yugyeom bought mango milkshake for him and Mark but placed it in front of Mark as he didn't feel like drinking much of it. They hung out for a while before leaving to their respective houses.

Taehyung got down from the bus and walked to Kihyun's café. He had already informed jungkook why he couldn't come to his house this evening and Jungkook had ended up apologizing, saying that he didn't need to be informed. Taehyung had all the rights to go wherever he wanted. This confused Taehyung. If jungkook was being so okay with him going to Kihyun's café alone then why wasn't he okay with him going to jimin's? That to with his father?

Was this jealousy?

Taehyung smiled at the thought of jungkook being jealous. He felt his stomach melt, his jungkookie is jealous. No, his jungkookie is protective.

"Taehyung!" Kihyun's voice snapped the blushing blonde out if his thoughts. He realised he had already reached the café and blushed deeper because he almost walked past it.

"Oh hi hyung! How are you?" Taehyung bowed as he approached Kihyun.

"I'm good. C'mon in, I invited a special someone right after you called me." Kihyun winked at Taehyung.

They entered the café and Taehyung was attacked by the puppies. He played with them while Kihyun went inside his office. When the door opened again, Kihyun was accompanied by officer Yoongi who was holding Yoon in his arms. The puppy biting a soft toy aggressively.

"Yoonie!" Taehyung squealed and took Yoon from Yoongi's arms.

Yoon was confused for a moment because his toy was now on the floor. But it didn't bother him for long, instead he started biting Taehyung's hand that was equally soft. Taehyung chuckled, cooing at the brown puppy and let him chew his hand. While he laughed at the puppy's behaviour, he also noticed that officer Yoongi went to the other dogs without greeting him. Taehyung looked at the Yoongi then at Kihyun who simply shrugged and went to serve a customer.

"Yoongi hyung?" Taehyung called.

"Hi Taehyung." Yoongi said without looking at him, continuing to pet the golden retriever.

Did something happen?

"How are you hyung?" Taehyung asked concerned.

"Fine." Yoongi said shortly, now rubbing the golden retriever's belly.

Taehyung was waiting for Yoongi to ask him how he is but apparently Yoongi was too busy with the dogs to talk to him at all. So Taehyung decided to take the lead, now that he knew Yoongi usually wants people to approach him even if he's dying to talk to them.

"Hyung, are you okay?" Taehyung asked kneeling next to Yoongi.

Yoongi only hummed in response.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"You know you can-" Taehyung gasped before he could complete his sentence because Yoon bit his finger a little too hard.

Yoongi's eyes widened and he quickly took the puppy from Taehyung's hand. He got up, picking another toy from the floor and went inside Kihyun's office. Taehyung frowned and followed Yoongi inside. Yoongi had set the puppy down on the floor letting him play with his toy while he sipped the coffee Kihyun gave him. Taehyung looked at Kihyun again but didn't say anything.

"Did I do something?" Taehyung asked uncertainly, looking at Yoongi. The officer just sighed instead of answering Taehyung.

"Hyung you have to tell me what I did to upset you.."

"You didn't show up at the animal shelter." Yoongi said coldly. Taehyung realised what was going on with Yoongi and almost giggled at his childish reason. There goes another layer of the wall.

"Aww yo-"

"I was worried you know?" Yoongi suddenly stood up. "I didn't know how you were doing after that night... I had no way of contacting you! I couldn't know if you were sleeping alright or if you were having any nightmares because of that bastard!"

Taehyung dropped his smile realising that Yoongi was being utterly serious. He was genuinely worried and Taehyung let him worry. He didn't even think about Yoongi the entire time. He was so occupied with the other people in his life that he almost forgot about Yoongi and all the emotions they shared that night in the park. Yoongi had let him see the vulnerable side of him, which meant something to Yoongi. And Taehyung completely ignored it.

"Hyung I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to worry you. I honestly had so much going on..."

"Forget it. I shouldn't expect a lot from you. You're just a kid after all." Yoongi scoffed.

Taehyung felt angry now. Yoongi was judging him before he could even explain himself. He had a reason and even if he was at fault, Yoongi should give him a chance to at least explain himself.

"Stop judging me Yoongi hyung." Taehyung said firmly. "Now drop me home, I'll explain everything on the way."

Yoongi glared at the younger boy then scoffed again. He snatched his car keys from the key holder on Kihyun's desk and walked out of the office. Taehyung went to Yoon and picked him up, giving him a few kisses. Kihyun entered and asked him if everything's alright between him and Yoongi. Taehyung nodded and gave Yoon to Kihyun saying that Yoongi is dropping him off. They said their goodbyes with a promise from Taehyung to be at the animal shelter this weekend before Taehyung left the café. He climbed into the passenger seat of Yoongi's car, his arms crossed over his chest. If Yoongi is stubborn then even he is a headstrong brat.
