forty one
Taehyung woke up to an empty bed in the morning with a note from jungkook saying 'sorry couldn't stay. See ya at school xo'. He laughed reading the 'xo' because honestly, who still uses that? He then got up and out of his bed going straight to his bathroom to take a shower. While brushing his teeth he noticed the marks left on his neck by his unbelievably wild boyfriend. He blushed, remembering the way he felt last night and how loving and caring jungkook was. And if it wasn't for him, taehyung knows very well that he would've still felt guilty for something he shouldn't feel guilty for.
Taehyung winced when he jumped to fit in his school trousers. He frowned looking at his butt in the mirror. Did he get fat or are the pants shrinking? He shrugged, quickly throwing his sweater on, grabbing his school bag and running down for breakfast. Last night he didn't have time to prepare his overnight oats so he has to settle with cereal which was reasonable enough.
He walked out of his house texting yeonjun to meet at their bus stop. The two best friends chatted along the way to their school, meeting their other friends at the gate. Taehyung frowned when he realised jungkook wasn't here yet. Just as he was about to call his boyfriend, he got a text from him saying he's running late because he overslept after reaching home. Taehyung shook his head, telling his friends about jungkook being late then going inside the school to attend his first class.
"Hey taehyung." Taehyung looked up from his math textbook to see jungwoo smiling at him.
"Oh good morning jungwoo." He said, closing his locker.
"Morning. I hope you remember about your meeting with the drama club members today." Jungwoo said.
"Yeah. Lunch hour right?"
"Yep. Just for like fifteen minutes."
"Cool! I'll be there."
Jungwoo waved at him before leaving. Taehyung went to his class after checking he has all his books one last time.
Taehyung's classes went by per usual and he even met a huffing jungkook in the hallway. He was pissed that he couldn't meet his baby in the morning and give him a kiss. But only after one make out session in the janitor's closet, jungkook was back to normal. Taehyung attended the meeting with the drama club members and was introduced to the four people who'd be helping him with the costume. Mia and Yerin for the girls. Taehyun and beomgyu for the boys. The girls were really shy around taehyung which made things difficult for him because he was even more shy around them. Their conversation was just a jumble of words amusing a very high spirited beomgyu. He was louder than anyone Taehyung has ever met. And taehyun was just the opposite. What surprised taehyung the most was that, taehyun and beomgyu were best friends, almost inseparable.
Because of his meet up with the drama club members he couldn't attend the meeting with the students council and hence missed the cause of yugyeom's angry burst out. Taehyung went straight up to the rooftop after his fifteen minutes meeting and stared confusedly at his friends who were busy calming yugyeom.
"What happened?" He asked to particularly no one.
"That bitch kicked Mark out of the planning team because she's uncomfortable! The fuck?! How the fuck is she the one who's uncomfortable?!" Yugyeom kicked the wall making Mark hiss at him.
"It doesn't matter Yugs chill the eff out!" Mark yelled pulling yugyeom's arm.
"Are you seriously accepting her decision! Who the hell is she to kick you out huh?! You're a member of our dance team! The representative! You were chosen by the teachers, and so they should decide whether you should or should not be in the planning team!"
"Yugs I honestly think it's better if I'm not on the team. I can't stand her and I know I won't be able to give my best." Mark explained.
"But-"
"I was eventually going to quit anyway. So how does it even matter? By kicking me out she made it easier for me to leave." Mark shrugged, giving his best friend his million dollar smile.
Yugyeom sighed, still not convinced by Mark's words but he couldn't exactly go against that smile either. So he decided to let go of the anger and resentment he strongly felt towards jeongyeon, concentrating on Mark and how to keep that smile on his face all day long. He brought Mark into a bone crushing hug and exhaled listening to Mark laugh, calling him an angry young man. Yugyeom had been thinking about Mark a lot these days, particularly his reactions and responses towards the other boy. He noticed the change in his moods and the way he always felt so light when Mark was around him. At first he thought he felt such immense love towards Mark because he was his best friend. But now, he is not so sure that his side of the friendship is as platonic.
"Now that yugyeom is not angry. Who's going to represent the dance team?" Eunwoo asked.
"I think they'll call jungkook." Mark replied, breaking away from the hug.
"That's good for the lovebirds then." Mingyu teased, for which he received a smack on his head by jungkook.
The boys obviously didn't sense the hesitation radiating from Taehyung when he heard the word 'lovebirds', it was all fun and games for them. Though Jungkook and Taehyung felt the awkwardness. Even if jungkook didn't want to feel it. Taehyung sighed taking a step forward and kissing jungkook's cheek to ease him. Their lunch was spent with sharing food and hot school gossip mostly by Mingyu and Eunwoo. They parted their ways to attend the rest of their classes and meet again by the school gate at the end of the day.
"Babe what are you not telling me?" Jungkook asked taehyung, who was happily snuggling into his boyfriend's side until now.
The couple was at jungkook's house after school. They finished their homework together and ate Mac and cheese cooked by jungkook himself. And now they were just chilling on jungkook's bed, cuddling. Or so taehyung thought.
"What do you mean?" Taehyung asked looking up at jungkook.
"What happened at the dinner?"
Taehyung internally scolded himself for thinking jungkook would've forgotten about the dinner after their last night's activity.
"Nothing you need to worry about." Taehyung kissed jungkook's chin, wishing for him to drop this topic.
"You're making me feel like you're hiding something." Jungkook huffed. He pushed taehyung off of him, sitting up straight on his bed creating distance between him and Tae. Taehyung sighed following jungkook and sitting up as well but at a fair distance.
"Fine. But you have to promise me you won't start fighting with me."
"That makes it worse." Jungkook rolled his eyes but promised nonetheless.
With a solemn sigh taehyung dived into a brief description of how Jimin threw a fit during dinner. How one minute they were talking about the school festival with Jimin praising taehyung for being artistically talented and then the next Jimin was breaking flower pots in his backyard. Taehyung debated on whether he should be telling jungkook about the hug and the words he spoke or should he just leave the explanation at 'his dad came and took him in'. Only hearing half of what had actually occured made jungkook ball his fists and seeing that taehyung decided to keep his story short with less of the drama.
"This is exactly why I didn't want you to go there." Jungkook was seething as he spoke through his gritted teeth.
"It doesn't matter jungkook. He's gone from my life, I don't need him, I don't even like him. I'm done with him."
"Are you Tae? Are you really done with him? If that was the case you wouldn't have agreed to go to his house." Jungkook raised his voice.
"I didn't go there out of my own will! His mother invited me!" Taehyung raised his voice as well. Not planning to go down without a fight, even though he was the one to make jungkook promise him the opposite.
"Of course! It's not like jimin's been begging you on his knees! It's not like his pleas and apologizes affect you!" Jungkook said sarcastically laughing at his boyfriend.
"Oh really jungkook?! Is this because of the way you also begged and pleaded to me, affected me back then? Is that the reason you think I accepted you!" Taehyung crossed his arms over his chest, showing jungkook his place. "I may be soft hearted jungkook, but I'm not dumb. If I wanted to go back to him I would've done that long ago."
Taehyung threaded his fingers through his hair trying to calm himself down. Yet he found himself glaring at jungkook's guilt stricken face.
"And you talk as if none of your ex girlfriends begged you take them back. I don't see you going back to them. Why? Because for you it's over isn't it. It's the same with me jungkook. What would it take to make you understand that huh?" Taehyung scoffed at his boyfriend.
"You're different from me Tae... I forget people easily but you forgive people easily... You see the difference?"
Taehyung's anger drained out of his body the moment jungkook's vulnerable voice reached his ears. He sighed, dropping his arms to his lap. He leaned and brought jungkook to his chest, hugging him tightly. Jungkook sighed, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend's waist and burying his face in the crook of Taehyung's neck. Taehyung kissed jungkook's crown smiling and resting his cheek on top of jungkook's head.
"It's you and only you kookie." Taehyung whispered.
"I'm sorry." Jungkook muttered against Taehyung's neck.
"It's okay. I'm sorry too." Taehyung kissed jungkook's head again.
Jungkook kissed Taehyung's neck accepting his apology. Taehyung leaned back, bringing both of them down on the bed. Jungkook snuggled closer to Taehyung, making himself comfortable and Taehyung giggle. They knew the conversation was again left half way because neither wanted to fight. But they also know that they had to come up with a solution as soon as possible.
