eleven
The weekend had gone by in utter silence on both the ends; jungkook's and Taehyung's. While Taehyung was trying various ways and means to forgot about his ordeal with jungkook; jungkook was trying to figure out his feelings for Taehyung. Was it really just infatuation because there was no other boy in his life? Should he try to find someone else? Should he create an anonymous account on social media to try to find some sort of an attractive male just to test himself? Or was he being too much?
Jungkook sighed as he sipped his pumpkin spice latte and stared out the café window. He thought going to a café to do his homework would be better since his room only reminded him of Taehyung nowadays. What all they did in there and could have done..
"Um excuse me?" A small voice interrupted his chain of thoughts and he looked up to see a timid yet cute boy standing next to him, blushing lightly.
"You dropped this.." the boy placed jungkook's pen, that he hadn't even noticed had fallen, on the table.
"Oh. Uh thanks." Jungkook bowed his head slightly while the boy nodded, giving him a shy smile.
Cute.
As the boy started to leave jungkook got up and stopped him by suddenly holding his wrist making the boy look at him with wide eyes.
"Sorry." Jungkook pulled his hand away. "I just wanted to know your name..."
"Hyunjin. Hwang Hyunjin."
Jungkook gave him his bunny toothed smile and received a cute smile from the tiny boy in return.
"Jeon Jungkook." Jungkook stuck his hand out for Hyunjin to shake, which he gladly did.
"No offense but I think I'll leave now, my friends are waiting for me..."
"Yeah, of course but um, will I see you again Hyunjin-ssi?"
"I come here every Sunday.." hyunjin gave a sly smile. "So maybe you will jungkook-ssi.."
Jungkook smirked as he watched Hyunjin take a few steps back, smiling while waving at him before turning around completely and leaving the café.
It was then that Jungkook realised what he had done.
He just flirted with a guy. With so much ease.
But then again, was that even flirting? It seemed as if they just became friends from strangers right?
Jungkook smacked his head because that was a really stupid thought. That was flirting. Definitely.
Jungkook packed his stuff and left the café walking back to his house with a slight smile on his face. He thought back to hyunjin and felt proud of himself for holding up such a conversation. Hyunjin surely got the hints jungkook was sending. That's why he told him or hinted at another meeting which wouldn't he as awkward as this one. Hopefully.
Jungkook skipped a bit, not even once thinking about Taehyung. Rather, he was imagining how his next meeting would go with hyunjin. He seemed like a friendly guy, though shy, but he did seem mischievous, judging by the smile he gave before leaving. Damn! Jungkook should've asked for his number! That's what he used to do with girls. Flirt with them at first and then take their number in the first meeting itself.
"Dad!" Jungkook exclaimed entering his house and finding his dad in the living room. "You finally got a half day!"
"Oh shush you bunny boy!" Namjoon hugged his son ruffling his hair. "Where's your brother huh? Didn't you guys go to study together?"
Jungkook frowned.
"No? He told me he wasn't feeling well, so he stayed at home.. is he not in his room?"
"Well, I haven't seen him since I came home."
Jungkook took his phone out to check if he missed his brother's message or phone call. But there was nothing. No text. No call. Now jungkook panicked. Thinking about the day he found his brother beaten behind an alleyway. His eyes widened and he quickly dailed soobin's number only to hear that his phone is switched off. Jungkook cursed under his breath running his fingers through his hair.
"Jungkook, what's wrong?" Namjoon asked with a firm voice looking at his son panicking.
"Dad, Soobin-"
Jungkook was ready to spill everything breaking his promise to his brother and not even bothering about it at the moment but, he was interrupted when his phone started ringing all of a sudden. He looked at the caller ID and was conflicted yet again. Taehyung's name displayed on his screen and he felt like hitting someone. Why is finding himself in this situation nowadays? Why is it always either Soobin or Taehyung. Last time when jungkook was facing a problem with Taehyung, Soobin interrupted him; and now when jungkook is facing a problem with Soobin, Taehyung is interrupting him. Like, seriously?! Is his fate playing some kind of joke with him?!
Jungkook closed his eyes and answered the call anyway, because he couldn't ignore Taehyung; just like he couldn't ignore Soobin.
"Hello?"
"Jungkook? It's Yeonjun here." Jungkook frowned deeper. "Uh your brother wanted you to pick him up from school."
"What? What is Soobin doing there on a Sunday?!"
"That. I don't know.. but-"
"Can you give him the phone please?"
"Um he can't exactly talk right now.."
Jungkook's eyes widened thinking that maybe his brother is badly hurt.
"What happened? Is he hurt?" Jungkook stood up along with his father, who followed him.
"He isn't hurt, just, passed out. He seems to be having high fever jungkook. You should hurry. Tae and I brought him to the infirmary but I really think he needs a doctor. He was puking his guts out a moment ago."
By now jungkook and his father were in Namjoon's car as jungkook gestured his father to drive to his school. Namjoon tried to remain calm seeing as jungkook was already panicking. As an adult and a parent he's supposed to keep his head leveled enough to properly interpret the situation before jumping to conclusions and panicking.
"I'm on my way yeonjun, please stay with him till I reach."
"Don't worry, we're right here." Yeonjun hung up after that and jungkook sighed.
"What's going on?" Namjoon asked.
"Soobin passed out at school. He was puking and... And I don't understand what the hell he was doing at school after telling me he hasn't been feeling well!"
"He hasn't been feeling well.." Namjoon muttered, feeling like that was supposed to be a question but came out as a statement. He felt guilty for neglecting his duties as a parent. How could he not realise that one of his sons wasn't feeling well? How could he let it go to the extent of Soobin passing out and puking in his school. Namjoon beat himself up in his head for being so ignorant towards his kids.
Jungkook instructed his father where to park the car then jumped out to go to his brother with Namjoon hurrying after him. He ran towards the infirmary and opened the door to reveal a pale Soobin lying on the bed. He had a wet cloth, which is obvious cold, on his forehead. He was so engrossed in his brother that he didn't realise Taehyung was not in the room, even though he had clearly heard yeonjun say 'we'. While jungkook thanked yeonjun for staying by his brother's side, Namjoon picked Soobin up in his arms, also thanking the unknown boy as he followed his elder son out.
"He still has fever." Namjoon said placing Soobin in the backseat; jungkook quickly taking his brother in his arms. "Call your mom and tell him we're coming to his hospital."
Jungkook nodded and called his mother, explaining the situation to him while his father sped towards his husband's hospital breaking a few traffic rules, despite being a cop himself. Jungkook caressed soobin's cheek looking at his brother with pitiful eyes. He knew something was wrong- terribly wrong- with Soobin. But his brother wasn't telling him, and oh how he wished Soobin would open up to him.
