Part 44

Asher

I watched Greer up on stage with her classmates singing for their spring concert. I have my camera, and I'm recording it for Maggie.

God, I miss that woman.

Every time I look down and see this wedding band, a chill of excitement runs through me. A week and a half left until we can start our forever.

The concert ended, and I picked Greer up in my arms. She thinks she's too big for me to pick up, but I beg to differ. She's my girl, and I'll never accept that she's going to grow up someday.

"Can we go for ice cream, daddy?"

"Sure, what kind should we get? Pickel or horseradish?"

"Ewe daddy!"

I chuckled. "Okay fine. You can get mustard flavored."

"You're silly, daddy! Aunt Maggie likes cookies and cream, and I like it too."

"Okay, two cookies and cream it is then."

We made it to the ice cream parlor and Greer was all smiles. "We have to get home before Aunt Maggie calls, so we better eat quick." She said.

"Be careful how quick you eat it. You'll get brain freeze." I laughed.

"I learned that once, and mommy thought it was funny."

She rarely talks about Diara, so she took me by surprise.

"Did mommy order a hot fudge sundae? That was always her favorite." I asked.

"We always shared, because mommy didn't always have money."

Damn, that's sad.

We took our ice creams and found a table. "School lets out in two weeks, so what do you want to do this summer?"

"Play with Aunt Maggie, and maybe Aunt Victoria will visit." She said.

"What do you think about a family vacation?"

"Like to the amusement park again?"

"Well, maybe, but I was thinking to the beach."

"I don't go to the beach. Mommy says the water is cold."

"We can go to a warm beach, it'll be a lot of fun."

"Okay."

We ate our ice cream, and I have to laugh. Diara would always moan a tiny bit when she loved the food, and here's Greer acting like her mom.

We finished up our ice cream and headed home. Greer fell asleep, and when I look in the rearview, I catch her sweet angelic face. It also makes me miss Maggie, and wish time would fly by just a little faster.

We've been settled in the mansion now for nearly a week. Josie is nestled back into her home. What she did was so huge and it was wrong, but I'm not vindictive enough to take her childhood home away. I also deeply cared for the woman. I also loved Diara, but never in my life did I ever think I could love a woman the way I love Maggie.

I was taken off guard when I saw a car was allowed inside the gates and the headlights were on. I called Matthew, but he didn't answer. Instead, he walked outside like he knew who was in the car. I placed my car in park and watched, I couldn't trust the situation too easily.

My heart jumped out of my chest when I saw who stepped out of the car.

Maggie!

I jumped out of the car so fast I almost forgot about Greer. I hurried to open the back door and woke her, but the moment I said "Aunt Maggie" she jumped up and raced to take her seatbelt off.

Matthew took her bags, and she turned as Greer ran up to her, and it was so amazing to watch the two show so much love to each other.

I walked up, and they let go just as Maggie jumped into my arms. "You're home early."

"I couldn't stand another minute. I pushed them along and got as much done as possible, then called it quits. I couldn't wait any longer."

Greer ran inside and I could hear her calling for Clara Ann that Maggie's home.

"Thank God you're home!" I pulled her into my arms and hugged her tightly.

"Me too!"

Her kiss was heavenly as she gave me a taste of our future, and it's going to be one hell of a life.

Greer was so excited, it was hard to steal away my wife for a kiss here and there, but somehow I survived until we finally tucked her into bed.

The moment we were done, I pulled her into our new bedroom and slammed my lips down on hers.

She pushed back with a smile. "I'm so happy to be home."

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked.

She gave me a small smile. "Something happened in Argentina. It was raining and I didn't want to miss a day of shooting, so I demanded we go somewhere else to shoot. We ended up on a remote island, and I got deathly ill. The helicopter ride back was torture. I needed to come home to tell you I'm pregnant."

She said what?

My mind raced. "You're what?" I'm so confused.

"I'm pregnant. You left me with a little something in Paris."

I felt my hands start to shake as I reached up and lightly trailed my fingers down her neck.

"I must be going crazy. It sounded like you said you're pregnant."

She took my hand and laid it on her belly. "Maybe it'll be a son, because I'm not sure you're ready for another princess."

"I did that? You're really pregnant?"

"We aren't far along, but yes, Greer will be getting a sibling after the new year."

My heart pounded against my chest. Maggie is giving me our baby. Holy shit, we made a baby.

I didn't know what to say, then before I knew it, my lips slammed against hers. She's fucking pregnant! My wife is pregnant.

I pulled back. "You have no idea how much I love you right now!"

She let out a sigh of relief.
