[7] Ezra: "Stop being so Cute."

Ezra Harland's PoV:

"I think I should throw a party." I mumble from my comfortable lounge across Seneca and Micajah's big bed—Micajah's room is practically unused all the time, so it's kinda like a guest room now—putting my book on my chest and turning my head to look at my best friends. Both of them look up from their perches across from each other in the matching desks they've put in their dorm room, (see what I mean? It's not used like a single room, at all) to shoot me the most incredulous and befuddled look known to man.

"You got that from reading the Contract Law?" Micajah appraises me funnily, and the tilt of his lips suggests he's controlling an amused chuckle.

"I wouldn't be surprised if he got that from Ratio Analysis." Seneca shakes her head, then goes back to writing like I hadn't even spoken.

Nuh uh, no can do.

"Listen, guys." I sit up straight, putting my textbook beside me as I fold my legs to get comfortable, "We've been here for almost a week and we know no one. Except Nyah and Paige, but Nyah barely talks to me and Paige, well, I have to be PG-13 with her. So we need more Wolf friends. We need to part-ay and know what all the college rage is about."

Both of them continue to study, not moving a single muscle as I wait for a reply. I roll my eyes at their lack of reaction, deciding to pull out the big guns. So, I shake my head ruefully, letting out an over-exaggerated sigh as I fall back on the bed, lying down, "And here I wanted to invite the Alphas and their Mates in all of the east."

I first hear the scratch of Seneca's pen across the paper stop, and from the corner of my eyes, I see Seneca slowly looking up and meeting Micajah's eyes. Even if Seneca doesn't like new people and even if Micajah still has the residual social anxiety at times, as the Alpha couple of a huge pack, they can never pass up an opportunity to throw a party for the Alphas that will strengthen their alliances. And of course, there's also the fact that if the party ends up being kick-ass, the Alphas will be talking about it for a while. They share a look, and I know immediately I've won.

Score!

"Fine." Seneca says finally, dropping her pen to turn around in her chair to face me, "We're in." Micajah agrees as he too, closes his book and turns around.

"Sorry, I'm not in the mood for partying, now." I shrug my shoulders and turn the next page, not even bothering to look up and meet their eyes.

Serves them right for treating me like that.

"Ezra, my darling brother?" MIcajah coos, and I suppress my chuckle at his childish behavior.

"Hm?"

"You're holding your book upside down."

Dammit! This is why you should actually look at what you're holding, Ezra!

"Yeah, so what? I was just seeing if I could read it that way."

"Uh huh.." That's Seneca's smug-as-frack voice.

"Yep." I refuse to turn and look at them, but the urge to do so is overwhelming and let's face it, I'm powerless when faced with such temptation of a party, "Alright, fine!" I put my book back down and sit up, grinning enthusiastically, "Let's make the booze list first!"

They laugh, jumping up to join me on the bed for our planning.

I'm walking out of the computer room with my hands full of the printed invites we'd designed last night, when that strange awareness hits me. I scan the place and I quickly find Nyah and her friend Alessia walking in my direction.

Bingo.

I walk over to them with a grin—what can I do, whenever I so much as think about talking to Nyah or whenever I look at her, I start grinning like a loon. No explanation necessary.

"Hey, guys." I stop a couple of feet in front of them—let's ignore that pleasant zap in my chest at seeing my Mate after only glimpses of her in the past few days since our meet in the hallway—nodding at both of them in greeting, "I'm having a party this weekend. You're receiving the first invites." I pull out a couple—still hot from the printer—from the top of the stack, handing it over to them, "You can bring a plus one for each invite. If more of your friends are interested in coming, then you can just email me." I run my finger across my email ID printed across the corner of the folded card, "And I'll send over more invites. Another thing, no humans."

"Got it." Alessia grins as she flips open the card and looks it over, "This is some swag stuff. Just how big it is gonna be?"

"Big enough." I grin back, taking a step away as I start to leave, "Anyways, I gotta run. I hope you two will be there!"

"Oh, yes. We will."

"Um, sorry. We can't."

Just as I turn, I get two different replies from them both, and you can guess who said which one. I roll my eyes, swiveling back to the duo. Nyah is glaring at Alessia harshly as they are no doubt having a mind-link fight, and I tap my foot impatiently, "Guys, I'm running real late. You can RSVP me later."

"Wait!" Alessia reaches forward and grabs my arm, quickly stopping me. I whirl back around in question, and she's beaming victoriously, "We're in. And we won't be bringing anyone with us."

"Alright," I chuckle, and my fingers itch with want to pinch Nyah's cheeks at how cutely she is glaring at her friend, "I hope to see you around."

I walk a few steps away from them, but stop, unable to help myself and pivot back around, "And Nyah? Please don't look so cute at the party, then I'd have to fight someone off of you and might end up accidentally challenging some Alpha."

With that, I saunter away without waiting to see her reaction.

Because, I'd bet you a hundred thousand dollars that she's blushing like a tomato but also glowering with the power of a thousand suns at my back just about now.

I don't even try to stop the grin.

Only you, Ezra, only you would call the bad girl cute and get away with it.

"So . . . invite Chance Parker or no? He's the Alpha now, after all." Seneca looks up from her notepad of all the possible people to invite, meeting Micajah's eyes. Chance Parker is Micajah's other half-brother, thus technically the three of us are brothers, but he's the fucker that had made Micajah's life hell all through his school life, so I'd be dead before I ever call someone like him my 'brother'.

Micajah contemplates his answer for a while, his glasses-clad blue eyes lost in thought, "I really don't know. Last time we met, he ran out of the place like his ass was on fire. I don't think he'll show up after everything that's happened."

"Yeah, me neither. Isn't he Mated to that really cute guy who takes care of Victoria, though?" Seneca asks as she nibbles on her lower lip in deliberation. Victoria is my and Micajah's biological mother, and I haven't yet had the guts to go and meet her, considering she's mentally ill and has also done nothing but made Micajah suffer all throughout his life. Hard to muster up compassion for someone like that.

Micajah shoots her a look between a glare and a frown, "You haven't seen him. So you wouldn't know."

"Well, I didn't. But Nicole did, and I trust my source." Seneca comments smugly, probably exaggerating to spur her Mate's jealousy.

"Whatever, I'm not taking the bait." He looks annoyed, but he covers it up.  "Anyways ," He grins, probably remembering something, "He was a very nice guy. I'm surprised the Goddess gave an asshole like Chance such a good Mate."

"The fact that he's Mated to a guy is enough karma for him." I continue spinning around in Micajah's rolling desk chair, "I am, by no means, against that. In fact, I'm sure after some initial shock, I'd have gotten over myself and been with my Mate even if Nyah'd been a guy, despite the fact that I've never been attracted to guys before, because if the Goddess is giving someone to me, there's gotta be a reason. But for someone who's every word began with 'fag', I'm sure he's in hell over coming out and claiming his Mate publicly."

Seneca and Micajah share a look, and I don't like that look. That look always means I'm about to get roasted.

"What now?" I grumble, stopping my 'spin-the-chair-as-fast-as-I-can' game with a foot, raising my brows in question.

"You said you'd be with Nyah even if she was a guy." Micajah states, as if that should make it obvious.

I still don't get his point though, "Yeah, so?"

"So what we want to know is, obviously she isn't a guy, so . . ." Seneca starts again, smiling as if she knows something I don't, "Are you with her now? Have you been hiding your relationship from us?"

I burst out laughing, clutching my stomach as I bend over in mirth. Unbelievable, that they even thought I could do that. My friends glare at me silently as they wait for me to be finished, and after a few moments, my laughter finally stops.

"I don't see how that was funny." Seneca utters flatly, her grey eyes, unimpressed.

"So many things were wrong with that sentence and you have no idea? Wait, lemme list 'em for you. First off, I can't hide shit from you, no matter what you think I'm capable of. Secondly, how in the hell can I be in a relationship with Nyah after all the bad blood between us? And thirdly, even if I'm ready to be with her, she wouldn't touch me with a ten-feet pole." I tick the items off with my fingers as I make my point, making them both nod slowly in response.

"I don't know about the other two, but I agree that he's not smart enough to hide stuff from us." Micajah acquiesces as he shrugs his shoulders at Seneca, who chuckles in response, "Yeah, that's right."

"Hey!" I complain, standing up in protest, "I can't hide stuff 'cause I don't want to. Not 'cause I'm dumb."

"Yeah, sure Ezzy. If you say so." Seneca grins playfully, going back to checking people off her list just to piss me off.

"Wow, you haven't called me Ezzy since we were five. Who's the immature one, now?" I charge forward slowly with the full intention to hold them both down and tie them up somewhere in punishment.

"Oooooh, I'm scared. One Beta against two Alphas," Seneca taunts with a waggle of her brows as she puts the notepad down and slowly backs away, closer to Micajah, who's also sitting on the bed.

"Oh, fuck it!" I turn around and march in the direction of the door, "I'm not playing with you two until I have someone on my side to even the field."

With that, I slip out the door and close it behind me quickly, ignoring their suggestions to make a certain someone part of my team.

I need to get the rest of the stuff done for the party. No time to worry about Alpha Mates and their stubborn grudges which might result in us never getting together.

Oh, how I wish I could just go back in time and stop my stupid self from being such a little asshole.

Question: Does anyone want there to be Seneca or Micajah's PoVs in the future? Or is Ezra and Nyah fine?

NEXT UPDATE: JUNE 8

Btw, I'm so sorry about being a day late. I didn't realize the date was June 4 just until now. I'm so stupid at times.
