A stressful day off

3rd pov

Y/n was lost in thought, knitting a hoodie subconsciously as her mind wandered. She was thinking about the words that were thrown relentlessly at her at home, and the high standards she had to reach. It was a lot of pressure on a little girl. See, her parents were famous adventurers. They'd adventure the galaxy, and bring back items that they found on their journeys. When y/n was born, her parents brought her with them, showing her the wonders of the galaxy. Then, something happened, when she was only a toddler, her parents were caught in a supernova, and never returned. The supernova blasted the ship back to her planet, and from that day forward, she was on her own. She was deemed as "useless" by the society that her home planet had, and was sent to exile. She was granted a few of her parents belongings, including all of the time pieces they had collected while they were alive. While she was in exile she met hat kid, the only person who treated her like she was a person. They became friends fast, and often played together. However, since y/n was exiled to the hat society, and she wore a hoodie, she was constantly berated and made fun of. As much as she hated to admit it, those words hurt. The only time she wasn't berated was when she was doing something useful. So y/n grew up thinking that everyone, except for hat kid, would berate and belittle her unless she was being useful to them. As a result, she would often get nightmares about being surrounded and berated, or chased. Anyway, snatcher snapped the poor girl out of her thoughts when he gently grabbed the knitting needles, yarn, and sewing kit, and put them on the table that was next to him. Y/n reached for her things, but snatcher was quick to get them out of her reach. Snatcher said "kid, I told you to rest, not just do something else". Y/n then asked something that caught snatcher off guard. She asked "Will me resting be useful to you?" Snatcher stared at the hooded child with the most concerned and confused look on his face while he processed the question. Snatcher finally found his words again and said "uh, sure kid", sounding quite unsure. Y/n shuffled in her seat, trying to get comfortable. Snatcher then seemed to remember a question he wanted to ask the child in front of him. Snatcher said "well kiddo, there was something I wanted to ask you", and the hooded girl looked up at him, curiosity etching her features. Snatcher asked "how exactly did you end up getting chased by Vanessa?" The hooded girl shuddered, recalling the memory, and said "so, I had almost finished extinguishing the flames, and was heading toward the next flame when I found myself in an icy tundra. I went to leave, but when I turned around, there was still nothing but snow and ice. There was nothing I could use to find my way back, so I just trudged forward until I found a huge manor. I would've just walked past it, but the statues not started chasing me. I quickly changed to my flight hoodie and took off into the air, trying to get out of their reach. One of them managed to jump and grab my leg, and I ended up flinging it into one of the windows of the manor. The window broke and the statue fell to the ground. Vanessa yelled something about daring to damage her home, and chased after me, flinging chunks of ice at me as I went. One of the ice chunks managed to knock me out of the sky, and as I fell, I switched to my invisibility hoodie so she wouldn't find me. Then you showed up and scared her off". Snatcher smiled a bit, no one had ever used Vanessa's statues against her before, not even hat kid. Snatcher was impressed that hood kid was able to do all of what she did while probably being scared out of her mind. Actually, snatcher could feel just how scared the little hooded girl was. The fact that the child had managed to do what she did though, was amazing. The snatcher said "go to sleep now kid, you need to rest if you want to finish that contract". Y/n nodded and positioned herself in a comfortable sleeping position and waited for sleep to take her. It took a while, but sleep eventually came and whisked y/n to a nightmare. Y/n was standing in a dark void, piercing glares being thrown at her from every direction. Words began to etch themselves just underneath the eyes, with a strange voice reading the word. Insults popped up everywhere, "look at her, just a worthless loser who will never amount to anything". "Why would anyone care for something so useless". The insults kept coming, meanwhile, snatcher was reading his book when he heard shuffling from the hooded girl. Snatcher could feel fear radiating off of her, "a nightmare?" The snatcher asked himself in his head. The small girl whimpered in her sleep, and snatcher didn't want her to wake up. She still needed to rest, and having a nightmare would put a huge damper on that. However, snatcher wasn't really good at comforting people, but he was at least going to try. Snatcher put his book down and made his way over to the hooded girl. Snatcher then gently stroked her back up and down, and was relieved when she seemed to calm down a bit. In y/n's dream, hat kid came out of nowhere and hugged her. Y/n started to calm down, but whenever snatcher moved his hand away from her, she began to stir and whimper again. Snatcher sighed in annoyance and just picked the child up, gently setting her down in the crook of his arm. He made sure her leg was set in a good position before going back to reading his book.
