Jeremy's P.O.V

"Your woman is like a precious jewel"

Jay's words continuously ran through my head as I drove home. Not that I wanted it to. It just happened whenever my mind travelled to Grace.
... Grace.

I will never forget the day I swept her off her feet. We've been together ever since college. She was your typical goody two shoes and I was a rising star as captain of the basketball team. She was so not ready when I asked her out for the first time. I could tell by her constant fiddling with her bracelet that she was very nervous. Guess I have that effect on people.
We dated for a year. A very hard year. During that time I was dropped from the team after a leg injury. They claimed it was so I could heal properly, but I knew better. Grace had started hanging out with this guy from her French class after school which of course made me quite upset. She should have been spending extra time with me in my time of need not some foreign speaking punk. That was the first time we fought. It was also the first time I hit her. Honestly, it was more exhilarating than I could have ever imagined. Getting to release my frustrations in cuffs and slaps made me feel good. I didn't expect her to stick around after that. I knew that she wouldn't. I had to apologise on numerous occasions which was difficult because she wouldn't take my calls or return my texts. I only got an opportunity when I caught her one afternoon after class. About a week later we were back together like nothing happened. I promised myself that it wouldn't happen again. I wouldn't hit her ever again. I wouldn't turn out like...my father. I tried, but then marriage rolled around...

By now I was parked in the driveway gathering my thoughts.

I don't think of myself as possessive, but with Grace it's hard not to be. She is stunning in everyway and I know I'm not the only guy who sees it.
Yeah, I understand that hitting her is not the right thing, but it sure as well works for me. So she cries for a bit? Go figure. She always gets over it. Always.
I'll show Jay. A man has to be the head. A man has to show his strength.
My father showed his.
I know I show mine.
