Anusha's POV

The following morning…..

“Anu beta, wake up”,  Mom called from outside our bedroom door here in Khanna mansion.

We arrived here at 10 last night and after greeting everyone we headed to our respective bedrooms, as we are supposed to wake up early in the morning.

“I’m up, Mom”
I opened the door and met with smiling faces of both Mom and Bebe.

"Good morning"

"Good morning bache," they said in unison,

“Come let’s eat sargi, it's going to be a long day afterward,” Mom said and turned along with Bebe.

I nodded at them and turned to look back inside the bedroom, there I found the man I’m in love with sleeping peacefully hugging the duvet. Bare-chested wearing nothing else but sweatpants like always.

Even in sleep, he looks mouth watering!!

I smiled biting my lip looking at his sleeping figure.

“Chal ab….. just stop staring, you were with him the whole night and still not ready to leave him,” Bebe said hitting me on my shoulder while shaking her head with a smile on her face.

I blushed and look at Mom who too was smiling at me. I covered my face with my hands shyly and followed them to the kitchen.

It’s 4 in the morning and we are all ready to have our large, as the whole day we all will be fasting, praying to the god for the long life of our husbands. I’m all dressed up in a baby pink cotton Patiala suit. Punjabi outfit, like I use to wear whenever I get the chance to.

Mom and I, together arranged all the plates of mouth-watering dishes on the dining table while Bebe was searching for something in her bedroom.

The dishes include motichoor ladoo, gulab janum, mithi matthi and milk etcetera etcetera. And Dahi as per my demand, I believe eating dahi early morning makes it easier to pass the whole day without water, it keeps you hydrated.

Everything is looking delicious, but the thing is, I’m not really fond of sweets and I don’t have any appetite eating all these heavy dishes early in the morning.

Mom must have seen my face,  bcoz she said

“I know we don’t eat this early and you are definitely not used to it, but we can’t do anything about it. We have to starve the whole day till the moon shows up so it’s better to eat and drink something now at least.......Now let's eat without any whining!” Mom told me

I nodded and took a deep breath before settling down on the chair across the dining table.

“Wait!  just don’t start without me”

I turned to the source of the husky-sleepy-manly voice and there I saw him.

He was still wearing his last night outfit, his hair all messy, saying he just got up from the bed.

How can someone look this handsome when he just woke up. I was looking at him but he was completely oblivious to my presence, as I was covered by Mom who was standing in the entrance of the dining hall.

“I was just going to ask your wife about you. What took you so long?” Mom asked him.

He scratched his head while smiling sheepishly at Mom just like a kid,

“Actually I forget to set my alarm”

“Is Siddharth woke up” Bebe yelled from her bedroom. I guess.

“Hanji mummy ji” Mom said (Yes mother)

“Send him in here”

Mom nodded at Siddharth to go and then she turns to look at me.

“You know when Bholu was a kid he always woke up with me to eat large because.........he loves sweets and on karva chauth we have lots of sweets, so it’s like his little treat........ and from then this became his habit.....”

I smiled imaging little Bholu eating sweets with his mom sitting on her lap.

Then entered Bebe with few boxes in her hands and Siddharth following behind her carrying two big boxes.

The moment they entered the dining area I stood up from my place and for the first time my eyes met his, he looked at me from head to toe then concentrated back on my face. Our eyes locked and I just hope for him to see the trail of emotions in me.

How much I’m craving for his love once again!

I smiled whereas he averted his gaze away from me. My smile grew even wider when Bebe smacked his left arm and told him to keep the boxes on the table.

“I have few gifts for my daughter-in-law and my grand daughter-in-law,” Bebe said and gave a box of Saree (I think) to Mom and then a big velvet box of jewelry, I guess to her.

Mom smiled widely and touched Bebe’s feet, where she stopped her in midway and hugged her.

“Anusha come here beta,” Bebe asked me to come near her.

I took a deep breath, I don’t know why suddenly I’m nervous. I don’t know the reason behind my nervousness, my hands turned cold and started to sweat.

Maybe because it’s my first karva chauth pooja or maybe because this is for the first time Bebe is giving me something or maybe because he is standing there watching my every move.

I gulped down my nervousness and stood in front of her, she held both of my hands in hers. Suddenly then I realized how old she is, her wrinkled skin under my touch, the soft trembling hands, a wrinkled pair of eyes looking with adoring at me with a huge proud smile placed on her lips.

“I don’t know what all good deeds I’ve done in my life to have daughters-in-law like both of you” she took a look at Mom and then back at me.

“I never thought that I’ll ever found the best better halves for my sons. I don’t know how I got so lucky but all I can do is to pray to god to fulfill happiness in your lives. I just want to  live the rest of my life seeing your alls happiness that’s it.” She smiled widely at me and bend to pick up the boxes.

“I bought this lehenga for you and this jewelry too” she gave me a box of lehenga and three boxes of jewelry.

I take them from her in my hands, “This is the necklace I gave to Neena on her first karva chauth and now I’m giving this to you and I know you’ll look much better than her” she said and smirked at mom.

“Thank you, Bebe,” I said and kept the things back on the table carefully and came forward to hug her.

They are making me emotional!

She hugged me back and then she kissed my forehead after pulling back from the hug, I bend down to touch her feet.

You know Anu? You were supposed to touch her feet first then hug her! My mind scolded me.

“I too have something for you Anusha,” Mom said.

I turned to look at her, she picked up a few boxes from the kitchen island I didn’t notice them before. She nodded me to come to her.

“This is for you. My mother gave it to me when I was getting married, now I’m handing my mother’s possession to you, take care of it” she handed me a rectangular box.

I smiled widely at her and bend down to touch her feet when she suddenly stopped me in mid tracks and embraced me. I hugged her back.

“Don’t you want to see what’s inside?” she said pointing towards the box.

I nodded she then told me to open the box. There was a pair of gold bangles and they seem really heavy. Just by looking at them I figured out they are expensive. Very expensive!

“Mom I can’t take this. This is very expensive. I don’t think I can take car……” I was cut in midway.

“Arey just keeps it she hardly gives anything to anyone,” Bebe said from behind and I turned to look at her and I left a small laugh nervously.

“But I don’t think Bebe-Mom, that I can take care of it........ What if I lost it? Mumma uses to keep all my jewelry........and important things because I'm afraid I could lose them” I said looking at Bebe then at Mom.

“You won’t”, they said in unison

“You are more responsible than you know you are,” mom said patting my back.

“I thought after Sunidhi got married what kind of daughter-in-law will come to our house but we got you. And you are the best thing that happened to us.”

I'm this close to crying!

And here we go!

I started crying. Crying like a baby, hiccupping and wiping my tears with the back of my hands everytime as they trail down to my cheeks.

How come I got so lucky to get a family like this. A mother in law like Mom, a Bebe like Bebe, a father in law like dad and most importantly a husband like him, never in my life ever I thought I could be this lucky.

“Stop crying silly. Why are you crying?” Mom said hugging me rubbing my back.

I don’t know when I buried my face in her shoulder and started crying like this.

Mom held my face in her hands and wiped my tears,
“Now stop crying I know you love us” she smiled looking at me and then kissed my forehead.

“Ugh! Too much drama is going on, I can’t see this anymore. Just stop this mother and daughter romance and eat something before the sun wakes up” Bebe joked and this made me smile.

I quickly ran towards Bebe and hugged her tightly,

“Easy woman I might fall and you’ll be responsible for that” she joked again and then I pulled from the hug and kissed her cheek. She laughed.

“Don’t kiss me like that your husband will get jealous of me and will start cursing me. I want to live more”

Mom and I laughed at her comment and then my eyes rested on Siddharth for the first time who was staring intently at me already. The emotions and love were already evident in his eyes.

The moment he realized I caught him staring he averted his gaze again.

How long hubby? How long are you going to hold back from me?

You just can’t stay away from me for long!

Not now at least.

Next coming the karva chauth scene,  I know I will not be able to explain it like.... um....properly..... because my main focus will be showing you guys some bittersweet relationship and their love!
