Part 2

After Sam and Steve beat Bucky at the snowball fight, they decided to try sledding. While Bucky grabbed Steve's shield and hiked to the top of the hill, Sam pulled out his phone and opened the camera. Stopping partway up the hill, Sam zoomed in close on Bucky. As soon as Bucky spotted Sam recording, he waved wildly at the camera and although Sam waved back, he did not take his eyes off the camera.

Once he was ready, Bucky carefully sat down in the shield. He crossed his legs, pulling them inside the shield, then peered over the hill.

"Ready?" he yelled.

Sam gave him a thumbs up, so Bucky scooted forward and started down the hill. It didn't take long for the shield to pick up speed and pretty soon, Bucky was shrieking. His eyes were wide and he was clutching the edges of the shield tightly as he zoomed past Sam. Laughing, Sam struggled to keep his phone camera steady as Bucky flew past them, the horror one his face showing up perfectly on camera.

"He's going to crash!" Steve exclaimed, watching as Bucky flew towards the street and the house across it.

Bucky must have had the same realisation, because as soon as Steve had voiced his worry, Bucky threw himself off the shield. As the shield flew up into the air, Bucky skidded across the street. The shield continued through the air until it disappeared over the house. At the sound of it crashing on the street behind them, Steve grimaced.

Sam stopped his video so he could laugh, but Steve ran down the hill to make sure Bucky was okay. Groaning, Bucky rolled onto his back and closed his eyes.

"That was terrifying," he muttered as Steve reached his side.

After he was certain that Bucky wasn't injured, he immediately turned on him.

"You're an idiot!" he exclaimed. Bucky smiled, small at first then it grew and Steve's frowned deepened. "No! This isn't funny! You could have died."

Bucky was laughing by now, struggling to sit up as he laughed, as Sam reached the two, catching his breath from his own laughter. When he saw Bucky laughing, he started laughing again.

"Dude, that was hilarious," Sam gasped, leaning over to avoid toppling to the ground. "I got it all on video."

Bucky grinned. "Send it to me."

Steve glared at them both.

"You could have been hurt!" he told Bucky before turning to Sam and pointing at Bucky. "He could have been hurt!"

"I'm fine, Steve," Bucky assured him again and Steve sighed. "Come on, let's go get your shield."

Bucky and Sam walked ahead of Steve, heading down the street to the next crossroad. When Sam showed Bucky the video as they walked, they erupted into more laughter and Steve frowned at them both.

"There it is," Sam said, pointing to the shield.

Bucky jogged over to it and picked it up, not all that surprised to see it wasn't even scratched. He returned to Sam and Steve, carrying the shield as though it was his own.

"I want to do that again," Bucky announced.

Steve's eyes widened and he shook his head, reaching for the shield. Twisting out of Steve's reach, Bucky jumped around Sam to keep possession of the shield.

"Nuh uh," Sam protested, "I get to try it."

Bucky nodded and ran with Sam up to the top of the hill. Although Steve knew he could catch them, he didn't bother trying. Deciding to take a seat at the bottom of the hill, he sat on a swing and watched as Sam and Bucky walked up to the top of the hill. Just like before, Bucky set the shield on the ground and held onto it while Sam climbed in.

"Hold on tight," Bucky warned. Sam nodded and grabbed the sides of the shield tightly. "You can't steer, so just jump out before you reach the street."

Sam shifted slightly then grinned. "Send me off!"

Bucky gave him a shove over the hill and Sam let out a whoop as he sailed down the hill. As the shield picked up speed again, he shrieked, both terrified and thrilled.

"Sam! Steer!" Steve yelled, eyes widening as Sam flew towards him.

At the sound of Steve's voice, Sam opened his eyes to see he was headed straight towards Steve. His cry of excitement quickly turned into one of fear.

"I can't!"

Steve jumped off the swing, pulling it out of Sam's way and Sam shot past him, hitting Steve's ankles on the way through. As Steve toppled over, he accidentally hit Sam in the face. Sam screamed again and hit the park fence, but bounced off and into the snow instead of going through it.

From the top of the hill, Bucky could be heard laughing. He doubled over and stumbled forward, but he was laughing so hard he couldn't keep from toppling over and rolling down the hill. He came to a screeching stop just above Steve and Sam where all three of them groaned.

"No more shield sledding," Steve said.

Sam nodded then groaned, raising a hand to his sore neck.

"No more shield sledding," he agreed.
