Part 1

Bucky had never been so excited to see snow. When he woke up in the morning to see nearly a foot of snow and that it was still snowing, he had done a happy dance in his room. Apparently, he'd been loud about it, too, because Sam yelled at him to stop. Jumping even harder, Bucky made sure to shake the walls and only stopped when Steve told him to. By then, though, all three of them were awake.

Bucky was the first in the kitchen, so he made the coffee and happily watched the large snowflakes fall from the sky. It had been a long time since he's been able to play in the snow. Now that he was free of Hydra, he had every intention of enjoying the snow.

"Someone's happy," Steve said, pouring himself some coffee. Bucky nodded with a smile.

"It's snowing," Bucky said, sounding more eager than he'd meant to.

Sam wasn't as amused as Steve was.

"Haven't you seen snow before?" he asked dryly. Bucky scowled at him but wouldn't let him ruin his day.

"I'm going to make snow angels," Bucky announced and Steve smiled. "And lots of snowmen. We should have a snowball fight! And go sledding!"

"I know a great sledding hill!" Steve exclaimed.

Sam sighed. There went his plans for a nice, relaxing December morning. Unfortunately, he knew he would be forced to go out in the snow with them. Steve wouldn't let him stay inside.

"We should use your shield for a sled," Bucky suggested. Steve frowned, not looking thrilled about the idea. "Come on, it would be a great sled. I bet it would go real fast."

"I don't know, Buck," Steve said, scratching the back on his head. Bucky turned to look at him pleadingly and Steve shook his head. "Don't do that! Don't you give me that look!"

"Please, Stevie?" Bucky pleaded. Sam scoffed and Bucky scowled at him momentarily. "I haven't been sledding in forever. Hydra wouldn't let me."

The mention of Hydra is what seemed to make Steve cave. He sighed and dropped his head, nodded and looked back up at Bucky.

"Fine," he agreed, "We can take my shield sledding."

Cheering to himself, Bucky finished his coffee and started on breakfast.

It took a while to find enough winter clothing stowed away for all of them, but once they were fully dressed and fed, Steve grabbed his shield. He led the way down the street to the nearby park where there was a steep hill, perfect for sledding. Before Sam could grumble about being outside again, Bucky collapsed in the snow. The light powder shot out all around him and Sam sputtered as some hit his face. From the ground, Bucky grinned.

"Snow angel!" he yelled, happily moving his arms and legs to make a snow angel.

Sam's scowl deepened. When Steve set his shield down and joined Bucky on the ground, however, he knew it was only a matter of time before he was forced to join. Fortunately, he managed to convince Bucky that snowmen were more important than snow angels and narrowly escaped making his own snow angel.

"Largest one wins," Sam declared, reaching down and starting his first snowball.

Bucky raced after him, packing a ball of snow and rolling it on the ground. Behind them, Steve laughed then joined in. They ended up using almost all the snow in the park to make the bases of their snowmen, so they were forced to make abnormally small middles and heads. Luckily for Sam, his ended up being the biggest. Bucky made sure to grumble about it for several minutes though, claiming Sam had cheated and stole snow from his section of the park.

"We didn't have sections, Buck," Steve reminded him.

Bucky rolled his eyes, packing a snowball casually. Before Steve realised what was happening, Bucky hurled the snowball at Sam. The snowball hit Sam perfectly in the back of the head and Bucky burst into laughter when he yelled. As snow slipped down his back, Sam awkwardly jumped around in an attempt to get it out.

Still recovering, Sam bent over, packed a snowball, then threw it at Bucky. With wide eyes, Bucky ducked and the snow hit Steve in the face. Steve didn't move. His eyes were eyes closed and slowly, he took a deep breath.

"Alright," he said calmly and Bucky and Sam gave each other worried looks. "This is war," Steve cried, quickly making up a snowball and throwing it and Bucky.

The three hurriedly made snowballs and hurled them at each other. Bucky hit Steve then turned to hit Sam. Already two steps ahead of Bucky, Sam threw a snowball before he could and it exploded in Bucky's face. He yelled out in protest, wiping the snow from his face and running towards Sam, screaming as he did so.

"Steve! Help me!" Sam screamed, running away from Bucky. He was no match for the super soldier, though.

Bucky jumped on his back and the two toppled to the ground. Pinning Sam down, Bucky covered his face in snow, no longer caring about making snowballs.

Steve rushed to Sam's aid, making up dozens of snowballs then throwing them rapidly at Bucky. As his back was hit with snowball after snowball, Bucky got off Sam and turned to hit Steve with snowballs.

Scrambling to his feet, Sam joined Steve in attacking Bucky.
