-SIX

"I can't sing."

"Neither can I."

Yoongi's brow creases. "Then why are we here?"

Exhaling in exasperation, Hoseok leans a little closer to the male and explains quietly, "Because Jimin wanted to bring Taehyung here but he didn't want it to just be the two of them so he brought me along and I didn't want to be a third wheel so I brought you."

A moment lapses before Yoongi mutters, "I'm pretty sure that was a run on sentence."

"You- You nerd."

Yoongi grins lazily before glancing at the two other boys, who have microphones to their mouths and are singing very passionately.

"Which one's Jimin again?"

Hoseok points. "Him."

"Okay. Shortie."

"Don't call him that, he'll get angry," Hoseok giggles.

Yoongi glances at the younger male. "Your laugh is the most melodious thing I've ever had the fortune to hear."

Hoseok shyly averts his eyes, a soft flush flooding his cheeks as he fiddles with the sleeves of his sweater. "God, Yoongi," he whines, embarrassedly aware of his pounding heart as the male wraps his fingers around his hand, "you're so annoying."

Yoongi laughs breathily, resting his head on Hoseok's shoulder. "Don't tell me you don't like compliments. Plus, I really do love your laugh."

"Well," Hoseok says, violently flustered. "thank you, I suppose."

Before either of them can say anything, Taehyung is handing Yoongi a microphone. "It's your guys' turn."

"Ooh." Yoongi excitedly takes the mic and stands up. "Hoseok, what do you wanna sing?"

"I don't know, probably not something ballad-y-"

"Let's sing something by Homme."

"Did you even listen to what I just said-"

"It's gonna be fun!" Yoongi cheers, showing off an adorable gummy smile. "Let's just try."

"Yoongi-"

"Please?"

Yoongi is looking at him with an adorable pout that Hoseok can't refuse, and the two end up (awfully) singing a soft ballad-type song. The singing has Jimin and Taehyung cringing, clinging onto each other as if the world is ending and their ears are exploding.

The two younger boys sing another song, something by Big Bang, after Yoongi and Hoseok are done, and then the four leave, arms all brushing against each other's to shield themselves from the cold of the night.

Jimin offers to walk Taehyung home, and Yoongi and Hoseok are left by themselves, wandering aimlessly down the sidewalk. "Hoseokie?"

A gentle pink color blooms under the male's cheeks at the nickname. "Hm?"

"How did you start liking me?" Yoongi links arms with Hoseok and examines his face, a grin stretching across his lips when he notices that Hoseok is visibly flustered.

"I don't know," Hoseok says unsurely. "I just sort of... did."

Yoongi frowns. "That was not the response I was expecting," he mutters. "I was hoping for a huge confession or something."

"Well," Hoseok starts, "I first noticed you because you were really pretty." He ducks his head away. "And- You have a really cute smile." Sinking his teeth into his bottom lip, he adds, "And you seemed like such a cool and awesome and nice person and I wanted to get to know you better and then you started getting me all flustered even though all you'd done was make eye contact with me and then I started thinking about how beautiful you were again and I tried to talk to you and then- then I asked you if you carry books at a library and made a complete fool out of myself-" An embarrassed giggle bubbles up from Hoseok's throat as he covers his face. "That was- That was bad."

Yoongi guffaws. "God, that confused me so much- I thought you were high or something."

Hoseok makes a strangled noise. "It was so embarrassing pleasedon'teverbringitupagain."

"Okay, calm down," Yoongi says, gently nudging the younger male. "You don't need to get all flustered."

"I'll- I'll try not to."

"Good."

"You know what," Hoseok says suddenly, accidentally stumbling and leaning into Yoongi. He straightens up with a sheepish smile and continues, "You seem like the type to never get embarrassed."

Yoongi snorts. "What makes you say that?"

"You just-" Hoseok falters, scanning the male's (beautiful) features. "You're so- cool."

"I'll let you keep thinking that," Yoongi says, a small grin inching across his thin lips. "I'm a pretty awkward person."

"You?"

"Yes, me." Yoongi shakes his head. "I'm so awkward around strangers."

"You weren't awkward around me," Hoseok says pointedly.

"That's because you were more awkward than I was."

"I-" Hoseok nudges his glasses back up. "I guess that's true."

Yoongi nods. "Asking someone for books at a library- That really topped the cake."

"I told you to stop," Hoseok whines, splaying his fingers across his visage. "Yoongi, seriously, stop, it's embarrassing enough as it is, you don't need to tease me about it."

"It's fun teasing you, though."

"Not fun for me."

"You'd better get used to it, then."
