Sir Knight's Cross
Hidden in a crypt beneath a chiming church bell,
Lies the story of a knight buried in no innocence,
Rumors of his wicked schemes,
Put stubborn children right to sleep;
How he burnt the host of daffodils,
How he swore against the southern winds,
How he'd sail alone to worlds unknown,
How he'd return with foreign kings and thrones,
On silver platter- he would lay,
The head of anyone that caused his King dismay,
They only listened and never cared
Fear was enough to turn their lamps away.
No one mentioned his weeping wife
Not a mention of his little boy,
The ones that were once his light,
The ones in whom he found delight,
Not the library he visited every day,
All the parchments he had scribbled on
Tales of battle,
Tales of war,
Tales that scare your demons away,
Tales of freedom.
What he wished for was
To no longer be a slave to the King he praised.
On order, he'd killed
A man of his guild,
Every neck he broke
He did regret,
Every drop of blood on his sword
He swore he could never atone
The man upon the abyss
Finally gave in
He didn't live to see another day.
With profanities and murmuring,
He was put in his coffin.
Without a Lily or a rose,
He was left there to pose.
A slave
A monster
Carved in his headstone
His pretty wife lies by the road
Screaming and begging for more
A punishment more than death
She points out sin in everyone's fate
Weeping the loss of her mate.
His only son craves some life
Almighty close to satanic plight
Rejected by the heaven above,
He swears his life to the King again,
In hopes of a little rain-
A rain of money, women, and fame.
He walks the path his father dreaded, again.
Inside his grave , Sir Knight rolls ,
But no one could hear him ,
No one knows.
