Chapter 6
Hazelpaw bit her ear hard, Wolfpaw was clinging to her leg and Brindlepaw was clawing her flank. The large warrior flung Hazelpaw and Brindlepaw away. Wolfpaw hung on, biting harder. Hazelpaw leaped again, and pinned her. Wolfpaw leaped off and the warrior struggled. Hazelpaw dug her hind claws into the warriors belly, but the she-cat kicked her off. She landed on a sharp stone, and it cut her. She scrambled up and looked over, ignoring the sharp pain that came from her bleeding shoulder. She darted at the she-cat and leaped, pinning her and shredding her belly. She leaped off, claws scaring her, and landed, ready for the warrior to turn and bite or claw her, but instead she turned tail and fled. She looked around, and then it hit her, the fresh and strong scent of Windclan, they had come! She pelted at a black Tom, who smelled strongly of Shadowclan. She realized who to warrior was, Ashpelt. The Shadowclan warrior whipped around to face her as she hissed, dropping Tallbrair, the cat he was carrying. Ashpelt leaped, but Hazelpaw dodged quickly to the side, leaping on him and scratching his flank. He whipped around to face her, but she leaped behind him, turning with a claw out and biting his leg, all in less than two seconds. The Tom looked stunned, and with the surprise shock she left him with, she clawed his ear, and clawed his neck. He choked out a drop of blood and fled. She looked up to see that they were winning, few Shadowclan and Windclan warriors remained. She fought to catch her breath as she was knocked sideways, pinned by a molted she-cat. She dug her claws in the ground and lifted up as hard as she could, sending the cat flying. She whipped around, just as the cat, by the looks of it an apprentice, darted at her. The cat scratched her eyes and bit her tail, and she yowled. Brindlepaw rushed in and skitted to a halt, clawing the apprentice. The She-cat hissed in pain as she was clawed. The two leaped at each other and wrestled on the ground. Hazelpaw heard a Shadowclan cat yowl " Retreat! " and the apprentice flung Brindlepaw off, racing after the dark warriors as they returned to thier dark forest. Riverclan started to retreat soon after, and the medicine cats from both clans came rushing in to heal the injured cats. Brindlepaw tried to get up, but her leg collapsed under her, and Kinkfur rushed over to help her, her eyes sparkling with worry. Hazelpaw limped over to join the rest of her clan mates, who were sitting and laying, laughing as they heard the others tell how they made cats turn tail and flee. She sat down and listened as Antclaw told them about a sleek blue-grey shecat, who sounded like Bluefall.
