Overlords and Fears

~2 weeks later...

I just clocked out of work for the day and I was feeling a little tired. I walked into the lobby room to see that Husky wasn't in his bar, again.

"Oh boy. Angel!" I called my bestie. Then I looked at the couch to see him making out with GunPowder. "Oh great. Angel!"

"Mmm!" Angel pulled back. "Yeah bestie?"

"Where's Husky?"

"He took the kittens to the playground. Right babe?" he asked his boyfriend.

"Yeah. The playground." GP said.

I scoffed. "I swear something is up with that cat." I crossed my arms and headed up the lobby stairs.

To be honest, he hasn't been around the hotel for quite some time. And he's also been taking the kittens with him more often. I wasn't sure what it was, but something didn't feel right to me. But I shrugged it off as I made it to Rachel's secondary door and knocked on it.

"Come in!" she said.

As I walked in, I saw her on her rocking chair reading a book. "Hey sis. Nice library."

"Thanks. Lucifer gave it to me."

"That's what happens when you marry the King of Hell." I laughed.

"Yeah." she got up from the chair and approached me. "How can I help you sis?"

"Is it okay if I read a book from here? I need to clear my mind off of Husky taking my kittens with him everywhere he goes."

"Oh. Okay sis." she said as she went to one of her bookshelves and looked. "Hmm... ahh, how about this one?" she asked as she took out a big book.

I took it from her and read the title. "The Overlords of Hell?"

"Yeah."

"You know, Husky did used to be an Overlord. The Overlord of Poker."

"Actually, it's the Overlord of Gambling."

"Really?"

"Yeah." she said as she opened the book for me and turned to his page. "See?"

"Whoa." I said in awe as I took out my reading glasses from my chest fur. "It says here that he used to run a casino and bets his own souls."

"Pretty much. He was so good, he was known to be the luckiest overlord in Hell. He won so many times and got more souls. He had more than 730 souls."

"730 souls?!" I gasped at the fact. "God damn he owned that many souls? Damn, it's no wonder he's so good at it."

"Yeah."

"But it wasn't up until he decided to gamble against Alastor."

"What was that?"

"Oh right. You don't know. Husky told me the past before E-Day. That one day Alastor played the game with him. And Alastor kept winning until his last soul, his very own soul."

"What? I didn't know this."

"And I didn't either. And to think, if you didn't say yes to Alastor's proposal back then... Husky would still be in chains by him. And in the worst case scenario... he'd be eaten and his screams would be broadcasted." my ears droop down.

Rachel covered her mouth. "That little bastard! And he didn't tell me shit about this. And if Lilith didn't come to the wedding, then I would've never got his soul back. He still hides things from me."

"And I don't blame him." I shook my head. "He is the Radio Demon after all."

"I'll say."

"But I should tell you this. It happened after you said yes to Alastor's proposal."

"Oh?"

"After you said yes, he asked me to talk with him. In order for him to marry you, he had to release one of the souls that he's captured. When he said he would release Husky's soul, it was now or never. So I said I would take it, but we made a deal."

"You didn't give yours in did you?!" she panicked while shaking me violently.

"No!"

"No?"

"No."

"Phew. Thank god." she sighed in relief.

"All he wanted was my scales and a drop of my blue blood. Supposedly everyone likes the taste of blue raspberry blood."

"Okay now that's just weird." she pulled back.

"It's weird to me the first time. Everybody's tried it. But I haven't even tasted it yet."

"Me neither."

"One day we'll try it."

"Okay. But overall, today has been very interesting. Talking about all this is bringing me back to day one."

"Yeah. And to think if we'd never arrive here, Charlie would be struggling like crazy."

"And I would've never found you. My soul sister."

"Not just that, but we've also changed the lives of everyone here. Even ourselves."

"Yeah. I'm really glad that we arrived here. And I'm really glad that we're here together."

"Me too sis. Me too." I said as I wagged my tail.

"But, I still have many fears... like Slaughter is still out there."

"I know sis. And we won't let him have you." I said as I hugged her.

"Maybe... it's time that I told Lucifer about this. He deserves to know."

"Yeah. He should be able to know. Catch him up with everything that you've been through. And in the end, he'll understand and be very supportive for you."

"Thanks sis. You know your Husky made the right choice to marry you. And to think if I didn't start your love story with 2 black eyes, then you'd still be alone forever."

"Yeah. I still appreciate that." I said. "Oh, speaking of Husky... is he ignoring me by not being here and taking the kittens with him?"

"Oh! Uhh... he's taken them to the playground where the daycare is!" she smiled nervously.

"To the daycare playground? Huh, okay. I guess I'll head up that way to check up on him." I said as I was walking out of her library. "See ya later sis."

"Uhh no wait!" she ran up to me and walked with me. "I don't think you should go outside."

"Why not? I know how to fight like you now." I said as we made it to the lobby stairs which caused me to gulp.

"What's wrong?"

"Stairs..." I shivered.

"You still scared of them?"

"Not just falling down the stairs. Falling itself."

"Like that time you fell down with the Cone of Shame over your head?"

"Yeah."

"To be honest, I didn't even know that happened to you. It sounded kinda funny, but it really didn't after you'd hurt yourself."

"That wasn't the first time I fell. Like for example number 1, falling from Heaven in the 1st E-Day arriving here. Number 2, falling down the stairs with Husky during my first hangover. Number 3, falling down these stairs again with the Cone of Shame over my head and hurting myself. And number 4, Lute pushing me off the building during the 2nd E-Day."

"Okay that's a lot of falling. I'm really sorry that I mentioned it. I bet you also have a fear of heights most likely."

"Yes. I do. Fears of falling and heights scare me now. That's why I keep saying no to you and Husky on your offers of flying."

"I'm sorry that it happened. I'll help you down."

"Okay." I said as I slowly walked down the stairs.

"You're doing okay sis." she said as she was stepping down stairs by stair with me.

After she brought me down to the bottom, I went to the front hotel door. "I'm heading out to find my family. It's already almost dinner time."

"But sis..."

"I'll be okay. I have my angelic weapon with me." I waved to her as I left the hotel.
