Ch. 40: Preparations

It had been several weeks, and Emily was getting the final touches done for the wedding... and drinking enough to give a whale alcohol poisoning... yeah, she was stressed.

"Niftty, how's the foyer looking?" Emily asked before putting her cigarette back into her mouth with the hand that's holding the clipboard, while her other hand held a bottle of beer.

"Clean as a whistle! The floors are so clean and shiny, you could eat off them! WHICH YOU WON'T!" Niffty shouted to nobody in general.

"Great! Keep it up and you'll get a raise." Emily said to her, finishing her bottle of beer

Niffty saluted before taking the bottle and rushing off, leaving Emily to go to the next person.

"Sir Pentious, how is the security detail?" Emily asked, checking off cleaning from her clipboard.

Pentious came over with a security uniform, ear piece and sunglasses and all.

"All corners are cover with special security cameras loaded with non lethal tranquilizer darts for any uninvited guests OR anyone that objects to the wedding!" He said with a salute.

Emily checked that off.

"Perfect!" She said before she walked towards the bar, where Husk was busy experimenting with drinks for the wedding. "Husk, how is our drink situation?"

"Try this and you tell me." Husk said, shaking a cocktail shaker and pouring it into a glass before handing it to her.

Emily drank it all at once and smiled.

"Perfect!" She said. "Why is it?"

"I call it "Hell's Paradise." It's got Beelzejuice, lime juice, Bacardi Rum, and a dash of rock salt." Husk said with a grin.

"Make more for the wedding and make me another one, please." Emily said, holding her glass out.

"Heh, alright, Princess." Husk said, with a grin. "You're the boss."

Emily smiled as she watched Husk make another "Hell's Paradise", pouring it into her glass and drinking it slower than before.

"Aaaaah. I love a good drink and a smoke." Emily said, holding her cigarette in her hand now.

You would never have known she was an angel if you didn't know her.

'Now who's next to check on?' Emily thought as she looked at her clipboard.

-Angel Dust-

-Alastor-

"Better check on Angel." Emily said.

She didn't want to know what Alastor was working on at the moment.

"Husk, do you know where Angel is?" Emily asked him.

"He should be in his room." Husk answered.

Emily nodded as she made her way to Angel's room, using her wings to fly up there instead of taking the steps.

'Next item of business after the wedding, installing an elevator in the hotel.' Emily thought.

That was one thing she wishes Charlie thought of, not everyone is as energetic as her and it can be very hard to get up all these damn stairs.

Reaching his room, Emily knocked on Angel's door and waited for him to answer. Which he did a few moments later.

"What's up, Em?" Angel asked, wearing a tank top and shorts while holding two outfits.

One of them a dress while the other was a suit.

"Just wanted to know how you're doing." Emily said.

"Good but I can't decide what to wear to the wedding! A sexy suit or an alurring dress!" Angel said, motioning to the garments in his extra arms. "This is the worst thing about being drop dead sexy! You can't decide what you look best in!"

Deciding to help, Emily looked at the two options.

"Mmm, are you bringing a date to the wedding?" Emily asked.

"Not really a date. I did invite Cherri but she's just a friend. And Husker too." Angel said.

"Well, it would be weird if Husk didn't show up. He's the barkeep." Emily joked.

"He better! Cherri might throw bombs to celebrate and we need a barkeep to keep her calm." Angel said.

"Sure..." Emily said, grinning before pointing to the dress. "Wear that. It compliments you better."

"You think so?" Angel asked, looking at the red dress.

"I'm not fashion expert but I'm sure." Emily said with a nod. "Now, about being Charlie's best man?"

"Nah, girl, that belongs to you." Angel said, "If you think she won't let her sister be by her side as she gets married, then you're dead wrong."

"I can't be the best man AND the maid of honor." Emily said, revealing her wedding role.

"You're the new princess of hell and adopted member of the royal family. You think people will care if you're both?" Angel asked blankly.

"That... is actually a fair point." Emily said.

"You're welcome. And thanks for the outfit advice." Angel said, going back into his room to get dressed.

"You're welcome." Emily said.

With Angel checked up on, the last person in the hotel staff for Emily to check up on was Alastor.

'We really need to hire more people after this.' Emily thought as she counted the current number of employees.

Including herself and excluding future queens Charlie and Vaggie, that's only four people. Six if you include Razzle and Dazzle.

She headed to Alastor's room, really hoping she doesn't interrupt him having a meal... because no matter how delicious they may be, she thinks being offered one deer heart is enough for her.

'Maybe if it was just venison but not sinner meat. I'm drawing the line there.' She thought, knocking on Alastor's door.

"Alastor?" Emily said.

The door opened quickly.

"Ah, Emily, my dear, what can I do for you?" Alastor asked.

"I'm checking in you to see if you're ready for the wedding." Emily said.

"Quite. But I do question my roll." Alastor said, making a shadow appear to show his black suit. "Wouldn't it be better for the little goat demons to be the ring bearers?"

"No, they would mistake them for shiny donuts." Emily said, shaking her head.

Emily felt her stomach growl as she looked at her drink hand.

"Can you hold this for a moment?" Emily asked as she handed Alastor her drink before writing on the clipboard. "Note to self, quick donut break soon."

"Yes. I can see your point." Alastor said as Emily took her drink back.

"Thank you." Emily said, taking her cigarette out and blowing some smoke above them.

"Also, should you really be drinking AND smoking right now?" Alastor asked.

"I'll be fine, don't worry. As for my sister, what she doesn't know won't hurt her." Emily explained.

"Hmm... fair enough!" Alastor said with a shrug.

"Now, for being ring bearer..." Emily said.

"I will do it. But I will not like it." Alastor said, his grin growing a bit smaller yet more genuine.

"Can't fool me." Emily said, grinning. "You've grown fond of us."

"I assure you, this is just a business venture and entertainment for me." Alastor said, shaking his head.

"SURE it is. See you later, Alastor." Emily said as she walked away.

Walking back downstairs, Emily was tapping her clipboard with her pen.

"Everything is looking good. All that's left is the guest list." Emily said as she flipped the first page over, showing the guest list for the wedding. "Alright, let's see who we have here."

Guest List:

Bee

Loona

Vortex

Asmodeus

Fizzarolli

Zestial

Cherri Bomb

"Wow, this is surprisingly short." Emily said with wide eyes.

Emily finished her drink and put out her cigarette, wanting to focus on what exactly to do about this short guest list.

They ordered a lot of food and drinks for this but the list is less than ten. This would simply not do AT ALL.

Growing her wings, Emily flew back to the first floor and walked into her office to think.

"Hmm... what to do? What to do?" Emily asked, sitting at her desk.

'I could invite the other sins but I don't know how their relationships with dad are any good if uncle Mammon is anything to go off of.' Emily thought.

"Ugh, I've been her for months and I rarely know anybody outside the hotel!" Emily shouted before slamming her head into her desk." Fuck me!"

A knock on her door roused Emily from her thoughts.

"Emily? You in there, ducky?" Lucifer asked.

Forgetting her anger, Emily practically threw the door open and hugged Lucifer.

"Hi, Dad!" She said.

"Hehehehe, hey Emily." Lucifer said, hugging her back. "So, how's planning the wedding going?"

"Good...but I've hit a dead end." Emily said, quickly deflating. "Is there seriously no one else we know that we can put on the guest list?"

"Guest list? It can't be that small, can it?" Lucifer asked.

Emily gave a blank look before going to her desk and coming back with the guest list.

"Bee, Vortex, Loona, Ozzi, Fizz, Zestial, Cherri- Wow, that IS short." Lucifer said in surprise.

"SEE?!" Emily shouted, gesturing to the list.

"Okay, so we might need some more guests." Lucifer said, rubbing his chin. "I guess MAYBE we can invite your uncles and aunt from heaven...if they're not to busy that is."

"Really? Are you sure they'd come? It is somewhat last minute." Emily said with a shrug. "Also, I don't think we'd get along, they are the reason I am down here."

"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" Lucifer asked, smirking a bit.

Emily giggled at the joke as she covered her mouth.

"Dad, I'm serious." she said through her giggles.

"Well, just let me handle them." Lucifer said before he summoned a pen and added the names of his siblings to the guest list.

Guest List:

Bee

Loona

Vortex

Asmodeus

Fizzarolli

Zestial

Cherri Bomb

Michael

Jophiel

Urial

Gabriel

Azrael

Raphael

"There." Lucifer said as Emily glanced at it.

"13 people. Still a bit small but a lot better than just seven." Emily said with a nod.

Neither of them wanted to even THINK of the possibility of invited a certain you-know-whos to this wedding/coronation since it would only cause commotion.

Aka, Lilith and Sera were in the "NEVER invite" list.

Take a guess as to who put them there.

"Alright, sweetie, I'll leave you to finish anything else." Lucifer said, handing the list to Emily.

"Thanks, dad." Emily said as Lucifer left her office.

She put the stuff on the desk and looked at it for a few moments, thinking of her next move, before making an important executive decision.

"... I need another beer and a dozen donuts." Emily said.
