Ch. 12: Dress for Success

Ten minutes later, Emily had recovered from her sugar crash and got up from the floor.

"Ugh, why does food have to taste so good and make you feel so bad later?" Emily asked.

"Because our stomachs were made with limits." Charlie replied.

"That's... stupid." Emily said, "stupid" being the worst word she knows.

"You're so innocent, it's adorable." Charlie said.

"Shut up." Emily said, holding her stomach. "You're no different."

"Not true. I am more "hardcore" as Vaggie would put it." Charlie said with pride. "After all... Fuck."

Emily gasped loudly, making Charlie chuckle.

"Come on, you try and say it." Charlie said, gesturing to her sister.

"I don't know if I-"

"Come on, it's fine." Charlie said, waving her hand." It's Hell, not like you'll offend anyone."

Emily let out a sigh, giving in to give it a try.

"Okay. FFFFF...FFFF... Fiddlesticks!" Emily shouted.

Charlie burst out laughing, it was like Emily was physically incapable of swearing.

"SHUT UP! It's not funny!" Emily shouted with a blush.

"You're right, is not funny....IT'S HILARIOUS! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Charlie shouted and laughed as she fell back in the seat.

Emily pouted and crossed her arms.

"It's not funny." Emily said, softer.

"Oh, don't worry." Charlie said, putting an arm around Emily's neck, "Back and forth joking like this is just what siblings do."

'Huh? It is?' Emily thought as she couldn't recall any joking with "she who shall not be named."

But the more Emily thought about it, the more she realized that she who shall not be named was never really a sister to her.

She always acted more like a strict parent or guardian, barely making any time for them to hang out or talk except on rare occasions.

Charlie... she didn't do that, she always treated her more like a sibling than Sera, even in the few hours they had in Heaven. Charlie was kinder, treated her like an adult, and... didn't hide things.

"Sis?" Charlie asked, worried.

"Huh? What?" Emily asked before noticing her head was in Charlie's lap.

"Are you okay? You were spacing out for a bit." Charlie said.

"Just... thinking." Emily said, before noticing the limo stopped, "Where are we?"

"We are at the clothes store, because, no offense... you've been wearing the same outfit for several days like a homeless person." Charlie said, somewhat blunt but completely honest.

"....I was going to gently bring that up but you just had to fudging slap me with it." Emily said as she pulled her head up.

"Hehehehehe, yeah, I guess I did do that." Charlie said with a giggle. "Now come on, let's get you a new outfit... I think white is your color, but I feel like there's something that can go with it."

"What about... black?" Emily asked, looking down at her clothes. "That color doesn't really exist in Heaven, so..."

Emily didn't know how to finish that sentence, thankfully Charlie did.

"Blue reminds you of it, doesn't it?" Charlie asked.

Emily nodded as she didn't feel comfortable with the color she had been wearing for centuries and now that she had started a new life in hell, it was time for a new favorite color to replace the "holier than thou" blue she had outgrown.

"Then as the only saying goes, "out with the old and in with the new!"" Charlie said.

Emily tilted her head, something she always does when confused... the Hotel gang called it the "Lost Puppy Stare" which was quite fitting given how Emily was basically the personification of a puppy.

"Hmm?" She let out, making her look even cuter for her justified ignorance.

"It just means we're getting you something new. Now come on, let's shop." Charlie said, opening the limo door.

The two walked into the clothing store and Emily felt a bit nervous.

'This is my first time ever buying new clothes and I don't even know what I might like or what would look good in me.' Emily thought, glancing down at her body.

She was LITERALLY made with these clothes, she has no idea what to do.

"Charlie, could you take the lead and see what looks good on me?" Emily asked.

"If that's what you want, sure, but you'll have do me the next time we go clothes shopping." Charlie said.

"Deal." Emily said, chuckling a bit.

"Okay, here's a word of advice... don't make deals in hell." Charlie said, gaining a serious expression. "That's... I'll tell you more later, but that's not something you should do. EVER."

Emily flinched from how serious Charlie was right now, not having seen her like this before. Not even when she was glaring at Adam or passionately defending sinners.

"I promise. I won't make ANY deals with anyone." Emily said, holding her hand up like a boy scout.

"Good." Charlie said before becoming cheerful again. "Now let's try on some clothes!"

Emily looked shocked by how Charlie was able to switch between happy and friendly, to serious, and then back to happy and friendly.

'What the freak?' She thought, not even being able to curse mentally.

Charlie pulled Emily all over the store, looking at various shirts, dresses, skirts, shorts, and pants that might look good on her.

With a handful of clothes, Charlie brought Emily to the dressing room.

"Okay, so take these inside and change to try them out. I'll be waiting outside to see how they look on you." Charlie said.

"Uh, okay." Emily said.

Charlie shut the door and left Emily alone in the changing room with the clothes, the hanging hooks, a bench, and the mirror.

"Okay, Emily. You can do this, it's just clothes." Emily muttered, setting the clothes in the bench.

She picked up one of the clothes and looked confused.

'Is this a shirt?' Emily thought, holding up a pair of pants.

Emily looked over the pants for several minutes before she decided to ask for some assistance.

"Uh... Charlie?" She said, slightly loud.

"Yeah?" Charlie asked.

"I... need some help." Emily said, softer.

"Are you sure?" Charlie asked.

"Definitely sure." Emily said quickly.

Nodding and looking around, Charlie opened the door and went into the changing room.

"What seems to be the problem?" She asked.

"I... have never worn anything but my dress... I don't know what I'm doing." Emily said.

Emily blushed brightly as she looked away, embarrassed at how she couldn't figure out other types of clothing to wear.

"Oh, okay." Charlie said, "Don't worry sis, I gotcha!"

Before Emily could open her mouth, Charlie had stripped her of her clothes, and got her in a new outfit.

"GAH!" Emily said, looking herself over.

"There. What do you think of this one?" Charlie asked, turning Emily to the mirror.

It was a skirt and blouse combo, somewhat similar to Vaggie. Only the color was bright red with purple fire balls around the skirt.

"Hmmm, I don't hate it but...maybe something else?" Emily said, looking at the skirt.

"Okay, sure. Leave it to me." Charlie said before speed changing Emily again.

'How does she do that so fast?' Emily thought.

Emily looked over herself again and saw she was now in a pair of black jeans, pink top, and a leather jacket.

"Hmmm, maybe this one is too "biker gang."" Charlie said with a hum.

"Yeah, I... don't think this is my style." Emily said, shaking her head.

"Okay, then buckle up." Charlie said, popping her fingers. "This one might get a little bumpy."

"Oh go-satan." Emily said, unknowingly correcting herself as she shut her eyes.

Moving twice as fast as before and running around the changing room like a tornado, Charlie worked her magic again and put her sister in what she believe was the perfect outfit.

"DONE! Now open your eyes." Charlie said, sweating a bit and wiping her forehead.

When Emily opened her eyes and looked in the mirror... she gasped at the sight of her clothes. She was wearing black dress pants, a black vest, black tie, white dress shirt, and black shoes.

(Art done by MeiaGachaFnaf, they were truly wonderful for this.)

"Woah... I look... good." Emily said.

"Damn right you do! You look amazing!" Charlie said, looking around Emily. "Professional, beautiful, and perfect!"

Emily continued to look over herself, seeing her legs looked VERY good in this black slacks.

'I... could get used to this look.' Emily thought, smiling at herself.

After Emily nodded and confirmed this is what she wanted as her new look, she and Charlie exited the changing room and put all of the other clothes back on the racks.

"Alright, now that you have a look you love, let's get you plenty of copies." Charlie said with a grin.

"Sure." Emily said, back in her old dress and white coat while holding her new clothes.

As the two were looking at clothes, someone tapped Emily on the shoulder. She turned around and saw a woman with cedar-brown skin, and long curly hair kept into pigtails with bangs by black hair ties. Her hair is colored in a desire-red that features the insides colored in a dark navy-blue, and white swirled-streaks on her pigtails and one on her bangs. Her eyes have white irises, red sclera and slit pupils, and her makeup consists of burgundy eyeshadow on her eyelids, and black lipstick on her lips with a strip across the center of her mouth, and fangs inside. Her clothing is that of white skull-shaped earrings, and a sleeveless navy-blue coat with burgundy lining and two desire hearts on the left side of the fur collar, Her coat is usually worn over a sleeveless, black turtlenecked crop-top that includes two desire hearts on the chest. Her set of loose-pants are colored in navy-blue and desire-red in a striped-pattern, held by a black belt with a white heart-shaped buckle.

"So, you're the girl that's shown up randomly." The woman said, "Name's Velvette, a fashion expert, something you clearly need."

"You mean new clothes? I know. I have them." Emily said, showing the clothes she was carrying.

"Oh, no, honey, you need something that... looks good." Velvette said, "In fact, if you... work for me, I could show you true fashion... true... power."

She grabbed onto Emily's shoulders, making the fallen angel a bit nervous.

"I-I-I'd rather no-"

"Ugh, all you newbies are so fucking lame, I come here and offer to make you something, and you decide that you're hot shit." Velvette said, rolling her eyes. "Well, I know just how to deal with people like you."

Velvette's grip on Emily tightened, making the girl more scared.

"P-p-please let go of-"

"Shut up!" Velvette said, growling at Emily as her eyes flashed red. "I tried being nice, and now I-"

Velvette was suddenly grabbed and turned around, before being punched by Charlie. Velvette fell to the ground, her lip bleeding.

"I'm going to say this nicely... stay the fuck away from my sister." Charlie said, glaring at Velvette, "Come on, Em, let's go."

Emily wasted no time in following Charlie. Velvette growled. Charlie put an arm around Emily and did her best to calm her.

"She won't always be there to save you." Velvette said, picking herself up and wiping the blood off her lip. "The second she's gone, you won't have anyone to save you, you're just a weak kid that thinks that she's friends with the princess you're someone. Without her you'll be-"

Before Velvette could fully pick herself off the ground, Emily turned around and threw a punch, knocking her back to the ground, shocking Charlie.

"FUCK YOU!" Emily yelled, cursing for the first time ever. "I'm trying to enjoy my day with my sister, I don't want to hear another word from your Satan Damned mouth!"

Emily turned back and stomped away with Charlie. Charlie smirked.

'Way to go Emily.' Charlie thought, following her.

Once they were gone, Velvette picked herself up and pulled out her phone. Dialing her top number.

"Vox... we're going to need a new plan." She said before wincing, spitting at the floor.

Velvette growled from this, looking down to see one of her fangs lying in the blood.
