Chapter 22 (New Year's Special Pt. 1)

BRUH THIS IS MY FAVORITE MUSIC-

I legit had to break this chapter into two parts because if I didn't, y'all would have to read a 3000+ word chapter.

I kept thinking "Oh, the chapter will be done today!" and then I got more ideas to write into it and then it got longer and longer and got delayed more and more XD Sorry about that!!

You walked out of the kitchen with a platter of different foods, helping Domino with the New Year's Eve party. Placing the platter on a table, you looked around the large room. Pretty much everyone at the hotel had invited a few friends, making for a large group. Angel invited Cherri Bomb, Alastor invited Rosie, Domino invited a couple of friends named Jazz and Popper, and Charlie invited none other than Lillith and Lucifer.

Most of the people who had come to the party were people you didn't know. You had never met Rosie before (but Alastor had told you about her a few times), you had seen Cherri Bomb before, but never met her,  and, well, you actually did meet Jazz and Popper before. They were the two assholes at the restaurant who teased you in 1920's talk before Alastor threatened to kill them. And, yes, the first impression you had of them was exactly how they were. Rude little shits.

The person who really surprised you was Lucifer. He had a personality that you weren't sure you expected. Of course, he's a pompous snobby ass, but he was a little bit goofy as well. Also a little condescending, but he had every right to be that way, seeing as he's the literal king of Hell. You were cautious around him, for sure, trying to avoid him when you could, but sometime's he'd just be right in front of you, talking with someone that you wanted to talk to, and he'd lure you into the conversation.

Lucifer's interactions with people were intimidating. He would be nice, but also make sure they knew who he was and what he could do. He had joined Husk, Jazz, and Popper in a game of poker, manipulating the cards so he'd always have the winning hand. Husk obviously got mad, and Lucifer passive-aggresively threatened the drunken cat demon.

You approached Charlie, who you noticed was standing alone, a bit far away from the main crowd of demons.

"You okay?" you asked.

"Hmm? Oh, yeah, I'm fine!" she answered, but she seemed a bit nervous.

You thought for a moment. Don't push her boundaries, you thought. "Okay...well, if you want to talk to anyone, I'll probably be available! I'm not exactly sure if I want to--" you were cut off by Alastor.

"(Y/n), my darling, you simply must meet Rosie! You'll love her, I just know you will!" he said excitedly.

"--socialize," you finished your sentence as Alastor grabbed your arm and led you over to the demon.  "Hi," you said shyly.

"So you must be (Y/n)! Why, I've heard a lot about you," Rosie said as she shook your hand.

"I hope what you heard isn't bad," you said with a slightly nervous chuckle.

"Oh, anything but bad! The way Alastor talks about you, I'd almost swear you were his gal!" she responded.

"Is that so?" you asked, feeling your face heat up a bit.

"Yes indeed! I can assure you that you hold a special place in his heart!" Rosie remarked.

You smiled and looked at Alastor, who actually seemed a bit embarrassed by what Rosie had said. "It's just how I talk about anyone who is a good friend," he said.

"Oh! So you describe all your friends as 'sweetie', 'charming little darling', and 'precious'?" Rosie asked.

"Of course!" Alastor answered, a trace of embarrassment in his laugh.

Rosie held a hand up to her mouth as she talked to you, as if telling you a secret, "He's not fooling anyone, now is he?"

You giggled a bit, blushing as you glanced at the floor.

"Hey, can I get some help over here?" Domino called out to you, standing by the snack table.

"Sure," you responded, giving Rosie a 'Sorry, but I've gotta go' glance before walking over to Domino. "Whaddya need help with?"

"Ummm...shit, I didn't think of that part," Domino muttered.

"What?" you asked.

"Hey, in my defense, you were talking with two overlords, and then looked uncomfortable! For all I knew, they were threatening to kill you!" Domino retorted.

"Well...thanks for...rescuing me, I guess?" There was a bit of a question in your statement.

"Yeah, you're welcome," Domino said before looking at the clock. "One hour before the new year," they muttered.

"Already? Damn, time flies b-"

"Hey! Stahp it, Jazz!" Domino yelled, dashing off to the irritating demon, who was attempting to flirt with an unhappy Vaggie. You watched as Domino scolded Jazz like a child, and then they led him over to you. "I don't know where Husk is. Can you make sure Jazz doesn't try to fuck anyone while I make sure Husk isn't getting into any alcohol?" Domino asked.

"Uhm...s-sure?"

Domino looked at you doubtfully. "I need a confident answer."

"Okay, fine, I'll watch him. If he gets into trouble, though, don't expect me to protect him," you muttered.

"Thanks," Domino said before dashing into the kitchen.

"Damn...you're still lookin' good, doll," Jazz muttered, looking you up and down.

"Damn...you're still lookin' like shit, perv," you responded, crossing your arms.

"What's your going rate for a good time?" Jazz asked.

You rolled your eyes. "For a rude little shit like you? There's not enough money in Heaven, Hell, and the living world combined to get me to be with a worthless rat."

"Mmm...feisty little babe," Jazz mumbled, licking his lips.

You were about to slap the demon when Alastor approached you. "I feel as though I know this ill-mannered, mundane, impolite, miserable demon from somewhere," he said, looking at Jazz with contempt clear in his eyes. He towered over the shorter demon, staring down at him a bit to look as intimidating as possible. A red glow radiated off him, making him even more menacing.

Jazz cowered like a cornered mouse, almost shaking.  "Don't hurt me, please," he mumbled.

"Well, I wouldn't want to spoil the new year for my dear friends by having to dispose of your body!" Alastor said with a laugh as he stood up straight again. "But be careful otherwise."

Jazz didn't respond, just stared up at Alastor fearfully.

"Luckily I was able to stop Husk just in time," Domino said as hey walked up behind you.

"Well, why the fuck are you keeping the alcohol back there? It's not like it's fucking special," Husk practically growled as he walked over to the poker table.

"It's not special because Charlie doesn't wanna use it, but that doesn't give you the right to guzzle it down!" Domino responded before turning to you. "Thanks for watching Jazz."

"You're welcome. You owe me big-time for spending time with that little fuckwad," you muttered.

"It was one minute," Domino responded.

"And one minute too long. You owe me (favorite dessert)," you retorted.

"Whatever." Domino noticed Jazz, who was still cowering in fear. "The fuck happened to you?"

"Th-the Radio Demon threatened me," Jazz responded.

"Well, don't fuck with him, then!" Domino said, noting the obvious.

"I wasn't! He just walked up to us and scared the living shit outta me!" Jazz argued.

"Were you flirting with (Y/n)?" Domino asked.

Jazz chuckled. "Duh. Who wouldn't?"

"Ah, see, Alastor's just protecting his 'little darling'," Domino said with a teasing tone, glancing at you.

Your ears twitched in annoyance. "Speaking of relationships, are you ever going to fuck Kobe?"

Domino tensed up. "WE ARE NOT-"

"Take a chill pill! Jeez, why are you so defensive?" you asked.

"Because it's not true!" Domino snapped.

"Mhm. Sure," you said sarcastically.

"I swear to God-" Domino was interrupted.

"Relax, okay, I won't pester you about it anymore. Or, at least not until midnight. Ooh, you're gonna have to kiss Kobe!!" You bounced up and down with fake excitement.

"I'm not gonna kiss him," Domino said, crossing their arms.

"We'll see about that," you responded with a smirk.

"Bitch, how about you kiss Alastor first?" Domino asked.

"How 'bout no?" you asked, booping Domino's nose.

"Wimp," Domino said, sticking their tongue out.

You smiled. "Yeah, whatever."

Alastor interrupted the conversation. "Domino, it appears your friends might be up to something," he said, gesturing to Jazz and Popper, who were flirting with Vaggie again.

"Goddammit," Domino cursed before rushing up to the two demons.

Alastor chuckled before looking at you. "If you don't mind my saying so, dear, you look absolutely stunning," he told you.

His comment was so unexpected that you almost squeaked in surprise. "Thank you," you said, blushing.

"You're very welcome darling!" Alastor said with a kind smile.

Angel walked up to Alastor, looked at Cherri Bomb and then back at Alastor. "Hey Alastor, you wanna kiss?"

"Good heavens, no!" Alastor responded, shoving Angel away.

"No, I meant a Hershey kiss," Angel said, holding out the little chocolate.

"And my answer is still no!" Alastor retorted.

Angel looked confused for a moment. "Why the hell not? It's chocolate. Everyone likes chocolate."

"Angel, I know you well enough to say with confidence that you laced it with something," Alastor explained.

"You've got a point," Angel said before walking up to Cherri Bomb. "Now you see, that's the tactic you use when you don't want to feel embarrassed after a rejection. If you do this to a normal guy, he would say yes to the chocolate, and you wouldn't have to worry about him thinking you're weird..." his voice faded as he walked away with Cherri.

"Hey (Y/n)! I need help in here! For real this time," Domino said to you from the kitchen doorway.

"Mkay," you responded before walking into the kitchen with Domino. "You better not be fuckin' with me again..."

"Don't worry! I actually need your help. Imma need you to hold these two platters," they said, giving you two large platters of crackers and cheese (Domino had always said it's better to have too much than too little, but they were overdoing it this time), "and then you need to grab this bag of chips for me while I refill the punch bowl." They held out a big bag of tortilla chips for you to grab.

"I can't grab the chips right now," you muttered.

"Sure ya can!" Domino said.

"No, I literally can't. I don't have enough arms," you remarked.

"Are you sure?" Domino asked.

You tried not to huff in annoyance. "I'm sure I would know if I had an extra ar--"

"Shut up and help me," Domino interrupted. Then, they figured out a way for you to hold the bag of chips.

Carry it with your teeth. They had stuffed the end of the bag in your mouth.

"See? You can carry it," Domino said triumphantly.

"I'm not a fucking pack dog Domi!" you snapped, the chip bag making it difficult to speak.

"The quicker you help, the sooner it'll be over," Domino reminded you, mixing up a bunch of rip-off Kool-Aid.

"Oh, yeah, I feel really dignified right now," you muttered sarcastically, flattening your ears in annoyance.

"When were you ever dignified?" Domino asked, trying to hold in laughter.

"I can smack you in the face with a platter right now, so I'd be careful if I were you," you responded.

"Alright, relax, we can get that bag outta your way in a second," Domino said, leading the way to the snack table.

"It's not a matter of if it's in my way; it's just not really good to be in a party with a bag in your mouth when there's a kinky demon like Angel at that same party," you retorted.

"Wow, your mind is jumping to conclusions," Domino said with a smirk.

"Hey, (Y/n), I didn't know you had a humiliation kink!" Angel said as he walked up to you and grabbed some crackers to eat, right off the platter you were holding.

"I swear to God, Angel, I have two platters, and I know how to beat someone down with 'em," you snapped.

"Oh, and you're a sadist! That's a combo I haven't seen before," Angel responded.

"Are you drunk?" you asked.

"Absolutely," Angel answered.

"High?"

"Without a doubt," Angel responded.

"No surprise there," you muttered, looking at Domi who was rearranging the items on the table. "Can you stop and get this freaking bag?"

"Yeah, gimme a sec," Domino said, continuing rearranging the table.

"Angel? Can you get the bag?" you asked.

"Nope," Angel replied.

You sighed and flattened your ears, watching Domino with a blank stare.

"Y'know, (Y/n), if you really want help, get your boyfriend," Domino said, glancing at Alastor, who was talking with Rosie.

"How 'bout we get your boyfriend to help you instead?" you asked.

Domino snatched the bag quickly and placed it on the table. "Kobe's not my boyfriend," they snapped.

"Who said I meant Kobe?" you asked.

"What?" Domino stared at you, a glimmer of confusion in their eyes.

You smiled mischievously. "Why'd you skip to the conclusion that I meant Kobe? Do you have feelings for him?"

"No! Hell no!" Domino responded, grabbing the platters and putting them on the table.

"Mkay," you mumbled.

"Why are you constantly sayin' that shit?" Domino asked.

"Payback, bitch," you responded, ruffling the fur on their head before walking away.
