Chapter 30. Rescue Mission

"Miss McCall, have you ever been so close to something that you've wanted for so long... that when it finally comes down to the moment you've been waiting for, you can't believe it?" Valack asked me as he dabbed at the hole he had drilled into my head.

I winced as I kept my eyes glued to the ceiling, refusing to speak to him. I'm not feeding into his games. I'm keeping to myself and I'm going to fight through this and survive this. I don't know what exactly he wants to do with me just yet but I can tell that it's not going to be good and I don't want to stick around and see it.

The only thing I can think about is Stiles. The thought of him is keeping me sane right now.

"Would you like some company?" he asked as he stood from his chair and left my room. I winced as the wound on my head began to throb.

I have no idea what the hell he is doing now, what did he mean by company? Who is he going to put in here with me? I struggled to lift my head from the pillow and I gasped when I saw Lydia restrained in a wheelchair being pushed into my room. When she saw me she let out a pained expression. I noticed that she had beads of sweat lining her forehead and her hair was damp. Whatever Valack has been doing to her must be similar to what he's done to me.

Valack pushed her next to my bed and he smiled at us both, "I'll leave you both to chat for a bit."

He left and closed the door to my room. Lydia glanced at me and blinked rapidly, "Are you okay?"

"I was getting ready to ask you the same thing." I responded flatly.

She sighed, "He drilled a hole into my head... I'm not exactly sure that qualifies as okay."

"What is he trying to do?" I asked her quietly, praying that he wasn't standing outside the door listening to our conversation and taking notes in his little book.

Lydia's gaze fell to the floor, "It's not good."

"Did he tell you something?" I inquired, because the way she was acting was telling me that she knew something that I didn't.

Her eyes met mine and the look she was giving me caused my heart to stop beating momentarily. I have seen fear before, but never anything like the way that she was looking at me. I swallowed thickly as she licked at her dry lips, "He's going to try and get you to kill people."

"What?" I responded quietly.

Who the hell knows what Valack had said to her, but I doubt he would feed her false information. The question is, why would he tell her and not me? It's not like by him telling me I would be able to stop him from doing it. I know that I'm powerful and I know that whatever he has planned is going to make me more powerful-- the thing I'm worried about the most it, which part of me is it going to enhance? I'm a hybrid of who knows how many creatures, which part of me is he trying to boost?

Lydia blinked rapidly, "Kasey, we are going to kill people."

"Hey," I said quickly when I noticed that she was crying, "Lydia, I'm not going to let that happen. We aren't going to hurt anyone. I promise."

Even though I have already hurt more than enough people, I'm not going to tell Lydia that. I'm going to try my best to keep her calm and optimistic and because the moment she starts to doubt herself and all of us is when she's going to lose this fight against Valack. I can't let that happen.

She hesitantly met my gaze, "Kasey, I've seen it..."

"You've seen what?" I asked in confusion.

Lydia swallowed thickly, "I saw you hurt Stiles."

My stomach dropped and my breathing hitched, "You saw me hurt Stiles?"

"Kasey, I think you killed him."

THIRD PERSON POV

"Stiles, slow down." Scott said quietly as Stiles pulled the door to the morgue open and briskly walked out into the hallway.

He was in a hurry to find Kasey, he didn't know what all Valack had already done to her and he was going to save her-- he wasn't leaving this building until Kasey was in his arms again. Stiles shot a look of bewilderment at his best friend, "She could already be dead, Scott. We have to hurry."

"I don't think she's dead, Stiles." Liam stated, because he knew Kasey wasn't going to go down without a fight and she would try to last as long as she could because she knew that they would end up coming to save her.

Stiles rounded the corner and spastically shot back before two orderlies saw him. They were gathered by a gate that they needed to pass through to get into the closed unit. Scott peeked around the corner to see what Stiles had ran from. He sighed, "What are they doing there?"

"I don't know their rounds should have ended five minutes ago." Stiles groaned in annoyance.

Liam peered around the corner and shrugged, "I can take them."

"No one's taking anyone." Scott stated.

Stiles was bouncing around on the balls of his feet, "How much time?"

Scott pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and glanced at the screen, "Three minutes."

"I'll just knock them out and hide the bodies." Liam suggested.

Stiles' eyes widened as he glanced at Liam, "Oh my God, please stop."

A sudden thud caused the three of them to jump in surprise. Stiles was the first to see that it had been a patient banging on his glass wall. He had spotted them and Stiles' heartbeat skyrocketed when he realized that their location could very well be compromised by this kid if they didn't end up doing something about it.

The patient's eyes widened, "Did you take the doctor?"

"What?" Liam whispered back at him, Stiles shot him a lock of surprise for actually interacting with him.

The boy behind the glass was speaking quickly as he repeated, "Did you take the doctor?"

Scott bit down on his lip as he glanced around the corner to see that the orderlies had turned around and were looking in the direction that the kids voice was coming from. He took a step back and glanced back at the kid who began to speak once again, "I haven't had my medication. I need ten milligrams at eight am, fifteen milligrams at one pm and no more than twenty at dinner."

"We'll get the doctor." Scott assured the frantic patient, praying that it would shut him up.

The kid nodded, "Dr. Fenris. Dr. Fenris. They took Dr. Fenris."

He then hit the glass again which caused the three of them to jump once more. The kid was now using both of his hands to hit the glass and he was getting more frantic by the second, "I haven't had my medication. I need to see the doctor. They took Dr. Fenris."

"Okay, somebody shut him up." Stiles stressed as he noticed the orderlies beginning to make their way in the direction of the kids room.

The kid hit the glass again, "I need my medication!"

"Shut him up!" Stiles harshly whispered at the two werewolves beside him.

He could feel the plan starting to fail and he couldn't let that happen. Kasey's life was on the line here and he wasn't going to let anything more happen to her. He was going to get her out of here. He made her a promise and he was going to keep that promise.

Scott, thinking on his feet, quickly let his eyes tinge that alpha red and he flashed his fangs at the kid. His eyes widened and he backed away from the glass in shock. Stiles watched as the orderlies ducked through the side door and ignored the kid. Stiles nodded, "Come on."

The three of them briskly made their way down the hall and just as they reached the gate, the hum of a generator echoed around the hall and the lights flickered. Liam grinned, "Kira did it!"

"Five minutes to get Kasey and Lydia." Scott stated.

Stiles went to slide the card through the card reader but he froze when he realized that there wasn't one. His eyes widened as he gawked at Scott, "Where's the card reader? There should be one. It should be here. It has to be here."

"They must have taken it out when the Dread Doctors got through." Scott said quickly.

Stiles' blinked rapidly, "Are you telling me we came all the way down here just to be stopped by an ordinary key? Are you kidding me?"

"We don't need a key. Not if we can break it down." Liam stated.

Scott then took a step forward and grabbed the gate, Liam did the same. Stiles watched as they pushed on the metal door. The only thing going through his mind right now was Kasey and her well being. He was so close to her, yet so far at the same time.

The two wolves were breathing heavily as they stepped away from the door, "We can't. The mountain ash is too much."

Stiles ran his hands over his face, "I need to get through this door."

"Hit me." Liam stated.

Scott whirled his head around to glance at his beta in confusion, "What?"

"Hit me." Liam repeated. "I'll get angry and I'll get stronger."

Stiles nodded rapidly, "Hit him. Hit him!"

"I tried to take your powers. I tried to kill you. Hit me!" Liam taunted Scott, trying his best to think of something to say that would get him to punch him in the face.

Stiles decided to jump in, "He also left you for dead."

"I wanted you dead--" Liam began to yell, but before he could finish his sentence Scott had hauled off and socked him square in the jaw. Stiles jumped slightly, but he knew that this plan could work.

Liam was groaning as he yelled, "Do it again!"

Scott didn't hesitate to punch him once more. Stiles glanced at his best friend, "It's gotta be harder than that."

Stiles watched wearily as Scott continued to punch Liam in the face. Normally, he wasn't a big fan of violence or the sound of a jaw cracking but he didn't have much else of a choice other than to stand here and watch the scene unfold. He was praying that Liam would get enough strength to push the door down. It was their only hope. They were running out of time.

"You angry?!" Scott yelled as he growled, he was getting amped up from the physical act of inflicting pain.

Liam growled and his eyes began to glow bright yellow. Scott nodded and they both went to the door, pushing it with all of their strength. After a total of three seconds, the metal door snapped off it's hinges and clambered to the floor.

Stiles hopped over the broken door and bolted down the hallway. When he ran into another door that had the card reader, he slid the card through it and waited for the buzz before the door opened. He didn't know which room Kasey would be in, but he knew where Lydia was and he had a feeling that Lydia would know where Kasey would be.

When found Lydia's room, he skidded to a stop and slid through the open doorway. Lydia was laying on the bed, blood staining the pillow next to her head. Stiles' eyes widened when he realized that Valack had drilled a hole into her head. He ran over to Lydia and crouched down beside her, when she saw him her eyes widened, "Stiles, you can't be in here."

"Lydia, we came to get you out. Where is Kasey?" Stiles asked in a panic.

Lydia blinked once, "You're going to die if you stay. All of you."

Stiles glanced at her in confusion before he started to undo the leather straps on her wrist, "Lydia, what did he do with Kasey?"

"He's coming." Lydia said quickly, just as panicked as Stiles was.

There was a faint buzzing and they both knew that it was Valack coming through the doors on the other side of the hallway. Stiles quickly went to work on Lydia's other wrist, "I'm not leaving you, we are gonna get you out, okay? Nobody is going to die."

"She's going to kill all of us." Lydia said as tears brimmed her eyes, knowing what Valack had in store for Kasey. He had decided to tell her what was going to happen because she was a part of the plan. With Lydia's scream, Kasey would be able to tap into her power and cause mass destruction.

A Banshee and an Admonere were made to warn, but together they were made to destroy.

Stiles' eyes widened, "Who is going to kill us?"

"Kasey," Lydia sobbed, squeezing her eyes shut to prevent the tears from falling.

He shook his head from side to side in disbelief, "She's not going to hurt anyone, Lydia."

"Stiles, you have to hide. He's coming." Lydia said as another buzz went off.

Stiles sighed as he tightened the straps back onto Lydia's wrist and made a beeline for the exit. He slid down the hall and crouched down behind a gate a few feet from Lydia's room. His chest was on fire in this moment, not only from what Lydia had just said to him but also because he still had no idea where the hell Kasey was and he had no way of knowing where to find her... but he was going to find her, even if it was the last thing that he ever did.
