3- An Array of Curse Words
Only two weeks left of school. Two weeks until we were free. These two weeks were usually the best though, as we literally did nothing but get our new timetables and gradually clear out our lockers. Knowing I only had to survive through 14 more days of school made me feel slightly better. By the end of the second to last week, Ally and Tanya seemed incredibly nice- too nice.
"Hey Molly! I love your makeup today! Those colours really suit you!" Ally fake smiled, approaching me in the hall with Tanya just behind her.
"Um, I'm not wearing any today..." I replied, trying to hold in a laugh.
"Well you still look good. Like usual, obviously." Tanya grinned.
"Okay guys, what do you want?" I sighed, shutting my locker and turning to face them.
"What do you mean?" They nervously giggled.
"You are never this nice to me. In fact, you always complain about me not wearing enough makeup."
"Okay, you've got us. There is something we want. Because, you know, we are your best and most loyal friends, could you buy us some stuff in America? Don't worry, we know you aren't good at choosing the right makeup and things, so we've made a list!" Ally handed me a folded piece of paper.
I quickly rolled my eyes and quickly scanned it, seeing brands like M.A.C, Jo Malone, Calvin Klein, Adidas, Victoria's Secret...
"How much money do you think I have?" I choked, giving her back the expensive list.
"Well we can give you the money back for the stuff! I'm sure I can convince my stepdad to write a cheque." Tanya said.
"My dad will too!" Ally exclaimed.
I'd only ever met Ally's parents twice, because they were always away due to work. And as for Tanya, I've only ever seen her mum- her stepdad has only been around for a couple of years. We never go to each other's houses really, we always go to town or some place where they can meet up with loads of other people. I sighed, and began walking away from them.
"So that's a yes?" Ally called after me, waving the list in the air.
"Whatever!" I shouted back, but not at all planning on buying them anything. Do they really expect to treat me like filth, and then I'll just buy them loads of gifts? Anyway, I'm just going to concentrate on me, my family and the Grier's whilst we are out there. No distractions.
-----
The last week of school usually goes incredibly fast, but this week it seemed to drag on forever. Finally it came to the last minute of the last day. The last bell of the last lesson rang, and screaming children ran riot through the corridors and out of the school.
"You had better come to the park today, Molly," Ally warned.
"Fine," I sighed, following them down the road. The street outside the gates was crowded with schoolboys and girls yelling, smoking and kicking random footballs about. Ally left me to find Sam, and Tanya went off with some guy. I stood there, not knowing what to do, until a girl offered me a cigarette. I declined and started briefly talking to some girls from a different school who were always here. Some popular boy from our year at school who I vaguely recognised came over.
"Hi Molly," he smirked.
"How do you know my name?" I laughed.
"Who doesn't know your name?" He winked, attempting to flirt with me now. I rolled my eyes and turned away, but he walked round to face me again and stepped close to me. So close I could feel his breath in my face. He grabbed my hands and tried to pull me over to his friends. I pulled away and walked off, shouting an array of curse words as I went. It was starting to rain, so I decided to just go home, and when I got there I was met by mum in the hall.
"Go and start packing then," she smiled.
"What?"
"We are leaving tomorrow!"
"Oh right!" I ran up the stairs and pulled my suitcase down from on top of the wardrobe. Carefully, I chose about half of my clothes (we are staying for two months, after all) and went on to shove most of my makeup into a makeup bag. I packed the other things like a few pairs of shoes, other toiletries, straighteners, etc. I decided to pack my travel bag tomorrow, as I would need to put items like my laptop in there. Once I was just about done mum came into my room and sat on the edge of the bed.
"You all packed?"
"Pretty much. What time are we leaving tomorrow?" I asked.
"Well our flight is at one o'clock, so we are leaving for the airport at about 10:30, which means we should arrive at around 11:30 which is just in time to have an early lunch."
"Sounds great!"
"I know it will be. Rachel and Skylynn are the same age, and I'm sure they'll become great friends. And you and Hayes- who knows what will become of you two!" Mum winked, standing up and heading towards the door. I rolled my eyes, but couldn't help letting out a little giggle. What would become of me and Hayes?
