2- Playing the Best Friend Card

"So are you guys going anywhere during the Summer break?" I asked, taking a seat opposite Tanya and Ally at a table. It was lunch again: our only proper time to talk. Not that I'm complaining.
"Well I'm staying in a 5 star hotel in Italy for two weeks, and then also going skiing in the South of France for a week," Tanya sighed, like it was only a small holiday.
"I'm visiting my Grandma in Australia for like a month. What about you?" Ally inquired. This was clearly a competition, like most of our daily lives were.
"Oh, nothing big. Just staying with some old friends." No way was I telling them the truth.
"Cool," they both replied, now distracted at doing something else. I sighed and decided to leave them, heading for the library. This was the only place for me to be myself. I thought I noticed Ally with Sam, Tanya's boyfriend, but shrugged it off. I took my book out of my satchel and sat in a quiet corner, ignoring everything around me until the bell rang. Hurriedly, I ran to the classroom where I register and sat down just as the teacher entered.

"Where did you go?" Ally hissed.

"Oh, just...um...I had detention," I lied.

"Oh, right. Because I saw you in the library."

"I saw you in the library with Sam. What were you doing?" I smirked.

"That's not important."

"Well then neither was the reason of why I was in there."

"So are you saying that I didn't see you, and you didn't see me?"

"Sure."

"Great."

"GIRLS, STOP TALKING!" Mr James yelled. We both shut up and continued the day as usual, as if nothing had happened. Sam was probably cheating on Tanya with Ally. It wouldn't surprise me, he is a bit of a player. And she is just a slut. At the end of the day I noticed Tanya shouting at him by her locker in the corridor.

"What's happening?" I asked, approaching Tanya as Sam stormed past.

"I am pretty sure Sam is going out with someone else too!" Tanya gasped. She was now crying. How pathetic.

"Sssshh, it's okay," I sighed, comfortingly rubbing her back. I guess I was playing the best friend card again.

"So have you broken up with him?"

"No."

"Well if he's cheating-"

"Just shut up Molly! I gave him a warning, that's it. Hopefully he's learnt his lesson."

"Okay, well I'm going home now."

"Please come to the park with me! It gives me a chance to spy on Sam!" More like look out for more boys.

"I don't know, I-"

"SOME FRIEND YOU ARE!"

"Isn't Ally going?"

"Probably. Fine, go home. Be selfish. I'll see you tomorrow," she said coldly.

"Bye then," I sighed, shoving my books in my locker and exiting the school. When I got home I saw I had a twitter follower request from Hayes. How did he find me? Actually, my username is literally just mollygreenx . And my bio says basically everything about me. And my profile picture is a picture of me. I accepted it and followed him back, before receiving a DM about ten seconds later. It said: Hi, it's Hayes, just checking this is the Molly Green visiting us in America in the Summer? If not, ignore this and I'm sorry for bothering you:)

I quickly typed back: Yes, although it would have been awkward if it wasn't:') and waited for a reply.

H: Haha yeah, can't wait to see you again soon, I remember when you came and we were much younger:)

M: Hmmm, I definitely remember you pushing me over in the mud by the lake, just to get to the house for dinner first...;)

H: Oh yeah, sorry about that. I definitely had an appetite then. In fact, that hasn't really changed:/
I laughed at this and we carried on talking for ages, until I had to go and eat.

"Got all your homework done?" mum asked as I sat at the table.

"Most of it...but I was talking to Hayes on Twitter for a while."

"Ah, how lovely."

"I'm very excited for my holiday mummy!" Rachel squealed.

"We all are love!" She replied. You are probably wondering where our dad is. Truth, is we all have no idea. He left two years ago to be with another woman, and never talked to us again. Apparently he had been having an affair for several years behind mum's back. They probably have their own kids now. I miss him- we all do.

"You alright Molly?" mum asked. She must have noticed I was staring into blank space.

"Fine," I smiled, picking up a chip with my fork and putting it in my mouth. I excused myself once I had finished, putting my plate in the dishwasher and going to bed. It was only 8:30pm, but I needed sleep.
