The first courtship gift

After finally confessing their feelings for each other Haxus began courting (Y/n) as best as he could; he showered her in affection, prepared food for both of them to eat whenever he got the chance to cook and even helped her with some of her daily chores when the others were out for the day. However, there was one thing he hadn't done; he had yet to find or make a first courtship gift for (Y/n) so he could officially begin courting her the proper way according to ancient galran traditions. One day while (Y/n) and the others were out on a big shopping trip Haxus took the opportunity to go through the large storage room in one of the lower levels of the castle to see if he could find something interesting, yet long forgotten by Allura and Coran. He ended up finding a beautiful blue crystal, some thin wire and some thin craft rope and he decided to use them to make a necklace for his new lover. Actually making the necklace was a little difficult, but he managed to finish before everyone else returned from their trip to the space mall.

Haxus was proud of himself for making a gift for (Y/n), he just hoped that she would like it when he gave it to her. Meanwhile, during the whole shopping trip (Y/n) missed her boyfriend and desperately wished he could be a part of the team in some way so he didn't have to keep hiding, unfortunately she knew the others would never accept him and keep him in the dungeon if they found him. She still enjoyed hanging out with the paladins since she considered them family by that point, although she could hardly wait to go back to her room where Haxus would be waiting for her. As soon as everyone returned to the castle and she helped them put a few things away (Y/n) went to her room, carrying two bags that held some things for her and some new clothes for Haxus. He only had a few outfits to wear so far and washing everything was easier said than done since she had to be very discreet about it.

"I'm back, Hax. I brought some more clothes for you." (Y/n) announced her arrival once she made it inside of her room and the door slid shut behind her, beaming at her handsome lover.

"I missed you, darling." Haxus replied, a soft smile on his face when he walked over to (Y/n) and knelt down in front of her.

"Aww, I missed you too." (Y/n) responded, placing the bags on the floor so she could greet him with a kiss; she still couldn't believe she got to kiss him, but feeling his lips pressing against hers made her feel tingly inside.

Haxus happily welcomed the kiss, wrapping his arms around her much smaller body after she wrapped her arms around the back of his neck. He still thought kissing on the lips was a little strange, but he definitely liked it; he felt vulnerable while his lips moved against (Y/n's), as though nothing else in the universe mattered other than them even though it was only for a few moments. (Y/n) loved kissing him too, more than he would ever know, and each time their lips met she felt a fluttering sensation in her belly. They broke the kiss after a few moments so they could sit on the bed together, or rather Haxus sat on the bed with (Y/n) sitting on his lap so she could be close to him. Haxus felt excited to finally be able to give (Y/n) the courtship gift he made for earlier, so excited that he couldn't stop smiling.

"You've been up to something." (Y/n) noted when she looked up at her boyfriend and saw the happy expression painted across his face, wondering what he'd been doing during her absence.

"I have indeed. As my first courtship gift to you I've made this necklace with my own hands during my time alone." Haxus confirmed prior to reaching into one of his pockets with his right hand and pulling out the necklace, holding it up for her to see.

"You made that? Haxus, it's beautiful! Thank you!" (Y/n) practically gasped when she saw the necklace, thinking it was beautiful and thanking him; the way the wire was wound around the blue crystal made it look kind of mystical, but the fact that he made it just for her made it even more special.

Haxus began purring happily, proud of himself for making such a gift for (Y/n) and proving that he was creative enough to make courtship gifts for her with his bare hands. He gave the lovely piece of jewelry to her and watched her put it on, thinking she looked even more beautiful while wearing the necklace. (Y/n) could hardly believe how good Haxus was at making things, especially when said things were so tiny compared to his hands; she would wear the necklace every day, although if the others asked about it she would have to lie and say she bought it at the space mall so they wouldn't suspect anything. She rested her body against Haxus' so they could cuddle while sitting up, both of them wanting to be affectionate with each other after being separated for most of the day. (Y/n) never imagined that Haxus would be a complete polar opposite while he was courting her compared to when she first met him; he was so affectionate and she loved every moment of it, but he still maintained some of his saltiness.

__________

After everyone finished eating dinner and dessert Shiro offered to help (Y/n) put the dishes in the dishwasher since he was a naturally helpful person. (Y/n) thought it was sweet of him to offer to help her, so of course she let him help her with the mundane task; as she expected earlier the paladins and Coran all wondered where her necklace came from, thankfully her lie worked and everyone accepted her answer. Once the dishwasher was started (Y/n) bid farewell to Shiro who didn't think much of her rush to go back to her room, assuming she was simply due for her period or something. Before (Y/n) actually went to her room she made sure Shiro was out of the kitchen so she could get a big plate of food and a cup of water for Haxus so he could have something to eat as a late dinner. In the meantime, Shiro went to the lounge where everyone would be hanging out just as they did nearly every evening.

He couldn't help but wonder why (Y/n) spent so much time in her room, unsure if it was almost her time of the month or if she had another certain 'problem' that she had to deal with on her own, although he definitely wasn't going to be nosey. After all, Shiro was a gentleman and true gentlemen respected everyone around them. When he entered the lounge and sat down next to Keith he let out a sigh, finally able to properly relax after the long day of shopping they all had earlier; Keith looked annoyed as usual, probably from listening to Lance who was talking to Pidge and Hunk. Shiro had a look around the room and noticed Allura wasn't there, he figured that she must have been doing something else somewhere in the castle. Everyone in the lounge saw Shiro walk in, they were just so distracted by their own things to acknowledge him when he sat down until Lance turned his attention to him.

"Shiro, we need to talk; it's about (Y/n)." Lance said once Shiro got settled, speaking firmly when he turned to face him.

"Lance, she's not up to anything, we've discussed this." Shiro replied flatly, feeling slightly annoyed by the boy's accusation; he thought Lance was over being suspicious of (Y/n), apparently he was wrong, though.

"No, seriously, haven't you noticed how happy she's been lately? Like she's hiding some kind of wonderful secret that she can barely keep to herself? I think she's got a crush on you." Lance questioned with a suspicious tone, rambling a little before he looked the older man in the eye.

"(Y/n) knows I'm gay, she wouldn't have a crush on me. You're just overthinking things." Shiro responded, letting out an aggravated sigh before putting the topic to rest.

"Maybe you're right, but I still have the feeling that she's hiding something and someday I'm going to find out what it is." Lance mumbled to himself; deep down, he knew (Y/n) was hiding something and he was determined to find out what her secret was.

Everyone else in the room either ignored Lance or let out an annoyed groan, all of them tired of Lance thinking (Y/n) was up to something; technically she was hiding something, they just didn't know it yet. Lance huffed and went back to his previous conversation with Hunk and Pidge, their discussion including the new video game they found at the mall earlier that day. Earlier during dinner (Y/n) looked so happy and she seemed excited about something, but the one thing he couldn't get out of his mind was the necklace everyone saw her wearing. Lance would do a little snooping on a later date, but for the time being he was busy talking about the new video game. While everyone else was busy doing their own thing (Y/n) and Haxus were busy talking and cuddling in their room, completely unaware of Lance’s big plan to find out what kind of secret she was keeping.
