Sick, or something else?

Every time the paladins and Coran left the castle for whatever reason (Y/n) and Haxus took the opportunity to have as much sex as they could; they couldn't help it that they were horny for each other, their lovemaking was something they both thoroughly enjoyed and craved. About two weeks passed before (Y/n) started feeling as though something was off, although she couldn't quite pinpoint what that something was. Sometimes towards the evening (Y/n) would feel kind of nauseated and during the day she felt kind of sore, but she didn't think much of it since during the previous week she went with the paladins to the space mall and ate at a new restaurant that had opened in the food court. None of the others noticed anything different about her, so their reassurance put her fears to rest. With her period coming up again soon Haxus was being extra affectionate with her; Haxus noticed a change in his mate's pheromones, something he'd never smelled coming from her before, unfortunately he didn't recognize the scent.

It didn't occur to him what could have been causing the change in (Y/n's) pheromones, although he decided not to think about it too much because he had other things on his mind. One evening in particular about two and a half weeks after he and (Y/n) last had sex she felt more nauseous than usual, (Y/n) decided that if it continued to get worse she would go see Ulaz. That evening she was helping Hunk make dinner while everyone else sat at the dining room table and discussed their plans of what they would do with Lotor who was still being kept in the dungeon. (Y/n) wished they would just dump him on some planet far away because just thinking about him made her skin crawl, she still felt as though he was up to no good. Hunk really appreciated her help in the kitchen since Lance, Allura and Pidge didn't necessarily like cooking all the time, Shiro usually accidentally burned anything he tried cooking and no one wanted to eat the strange alien foods Coran once tried making them eat.

While they were cooking together Hunk was quietly humming an old song that his mother used to sing to him when he was a kid, hearing him humming made (Y/n) feel a little distracted from her upset stomach. However, when the scent of food wafted past her nose (Y/n's) stomach churned, she honestly didn't know what was wrong with her but she felt as though she was going to throw up. She did everything in her power not to gag, unfortunately it wasn't enough and she had to run to the trash chute and open it before she made a mess on the kitchen floor. Hunk nearly puked when he saw (Y/n) throwing up, thankfully after everything he'd been through as a paladin he had a stronger stomach. Everyone rushed into the kitchen when they heard (Y/n) throwing up and Shiro held her hair out of the way, he didn't want her to have to shower during dinner if the previous contents of her stomach ended up in her hair; no one knew why she was throwing up, although they all suspected it could have possibly been food poisoning or something.

"Don't worry, I'm- I'm here for you." Shiro spoke with uncertainty, not sure if he should say something or not to comfort the young woman who was coughing and gagging.

Throwing up was never fun for anyone, but hearing Shiro attempt to comfort her made (Y/n) feel a little better, or at least as much as possible given her situation. Thankfully (Y/n) didn't throw up for very long and when she was finished someone wiped her lower face off with a warm damp cloth; however, her throat still burned a little and her legs felt as though they were going to give out. Shiro helped her walk over to the sink where Allura gave her a cup of water; (Y/n) helped them out so much ever since she and the paladins ended up in space, it was only natural for them to help her during her time of need. (Y/n) rinsed her mouth out and wiped the tears away from her eyes, feeling embarrassed for throwing up after simply smelling whatever it was Hunk had been cooking; the scent still hung in the air, but after getting sick she didn't notice it as much. Everyone was silent for a moment, no one knowing what to say since they'd just witnessed their friend puking her guts out.

"I'm sorry." (Y/n) croaked, glancing back at everyone with bleary eyes; she felt so embarrassed that she couldn't make eye contact with anyone.

"Hey, it's alright. I used to throw up all the time, so I'm used to it." Hunk replied in an attempt to cheer (Y/n) up, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

"Are you alright?" Shiro added with a concerned tone; it wasn't often that someone in the castle got sick, but it didn't matter because he only wanted her to feel better.

"So what, are you pregnant or something?" Lance questioned, suspicious as to why (Y/n) got sick seemingly all of a sudden.

"Lance, don't joke about things like that! (Y/n's) sick!" Allura reprimanded the previous blue paladin, glaring at him with an angry expression.

"Never mind him. Would you like me to take you to your room?" Shiro inquired, he wasn't sure if (Y/n) could hold anything down if she were to eat something for dinner.

"N-no, but I think that I'll try to eat something different. Thank you for offering, and thanks for the help." (Y/n) responded, thanking Shiro and everyone else who helped her after she threw up.

"I can whip something up that'll be easy on your stomach." Hunk told (Y/n) before Shiro helped her out of the kitchen, quickly walking over to the fridge after he thought of the perfect thing for her to eat that wouldn't make her condition worse.

(Y/n) thanked Hunk as she held onto Shiro’s real arm, grateful for the black paladin's help; she was still shaken up from being sick, but she felt a little better since she'd emptied her stomach. She honestly didn't know what to think about her mysterious sickness, (Y/n) just hoped that she would get over whatever it was soon so she could go back to her normal life. Lance still couldn't help but feel as though something was going on, although he chose not to say anything else about it because he didn't want to get yelled at again if he did. It wasn't long before Hunk brought the food out to the table, putting everything on the middle of the table except for the food he made specifically for (Y/n), he put that in front of her on the table so she could at least have something to eat. (Y/n) still felt a little nauseous throughout dinner, thankfully she was still able to eat and she didn't feel worse when everyone else started eating.

__________

Right after everyone finished eating dinner the paladins received a video call from Kolivan who wanted to discuss some plans, so (Y/n) helped Coran put the dishes in the dishwasher before she went to her room. Being the gentleman he was, Coran offered to help (Y/n) get to her room, but she politely declined and said that she'd be fine, the real reason she didn't want help was because she didn't want anyone to see Haxus. On the way back to her room (Y/n) walked slowly so she wouldn't risk getting an upset stomach again, especially since the bathroom wasn't nearby; she really thought she had food poisoning and wondered if she should go into a healing pod for a day or two, she just didn't want to leave Haxus alone because she knew he would get worried about her. When she finally made it to her and Haxus' room she unlocked the door and walked in when it slid open, hearing it slide shut once she was far enough inside the small bedroom. (Y/n's) mind was so fogged that she completely forgot to get dinner for him, she didn't mean to forget but with her not feeling well all she could do was lay next to her sitting boyfriend on the bed.

"What happened?" Haxus questioned with concern once (Y/n) was settled on the bed, immediately noticing how sick she looked and smelled.

"I threw up when I was helping Hunk make dinner." (Y/n) answered, feeling oddly exhausted despite not doing much earlier that day.

Haxus was alarmed to know his mate threw up; in an instant he was laying behind her, using one arm to prop himself up while he purred softly and delicately nuzzled the area below her right ear. It wasn't like (Y/n) to get sick so easily and he wondered if she had a case of the space flu, he decided not to question it though because he didn't want to worry her too much. If her sickness continued then when the paladins were gone next he would take her to the infirmary where he could figure out what she'd caught, he might not have been a doctor but he knew how to use a diagnostic scanner. Haxus felt his heart nearly stop when (Y/n) told him that she threw up, he disliked seeing her sick and all he wanted to do was help her feel better in any way he could. Having Haxus laying behind her and nuzzling below her right ear helped make (Y/n) feel a little better, unfortunately her stomach still ached a little and all she could do was lay there.

"I'll help you figure out what's bothering your stomach as soon as I can, I don't want your condition to get worse." Haxus whispered reassuringly, he was determined to help (Y/n) feel better even though it could be dangerous if the others came back earlier than expected.

"Thank you, Hax. I'm sorry that I didn't bring you something to eat, I wasn't feeling good and the paladins are having a video chat with Kolivan again." (Y/n) thanked her lover, apologizing when she remembered that she'd forgotten to bring something for him to eat.

"It's alright, I can sneak to the kitchen later and back before anyone sees me, but for now you need me. I'm here for you." Haxus whispered affectionately, carefully moving closer to her so he could lay directly behind her.

(Y/n) let out a quiet hum in response and closed her eyes, having Haxus laying behind her made her feel as though she was going to fall asleep any minute. Haxus was there to help her feel better as much as he could, she just wished that she knew why she was getting sick all of a sudden. Haxus remembered the last time (Y/n) got sick and how quickly she recovered, but that had been the common cold and whatever she had presently definitely wasn't a cold, he had a feeling it was something more and not knowing what she caught was unnerving. He already wasn't too hungry because he'd finished a package of his favorite snack two hours prior, so he didn't mind waiting to eat dinner for a while longer. For the time being Haxus was focused on snuggling with (Y/n) until she fell asleep, he was grateful for how much she cared about him and he was her mate, he only wanted her to feel better and not be ill anymore.
