Pregnancy
A few days passed before the paladins had to attend an important meeting at the main Blade of Marmora headquarters, Lotor gave them some more info about a project Zarkon had been working on in a remote location of the universe and the Blades would be helping the paladins put an end to the project. The first thing Haxus did after making sure (Y/n) wasn't going to get sick prior to carrying her all the way to the infirmary was make sure she was comfortable, he didn't want her to get a cramp while he carried her for such a long distance. Before the paladins left for the afternoon (Y/n) brought Haxus something to eat for breakfast; she was feeling less nauseous that morning but she unfortunately still felt groggy and sore. (Y/n) ate something that agreed with her stomach for breakfast since she didn't want to throw up again, she was thankful Hunk knew exactly what to make for her. It was obvious (Y/n) wasn't feeling one hundred percent better, although whatever it was she had caught they were going to figure out what it was.
(Y/n) felt really nervous about what she might have caught, regular stomach bugs didn't last as long as whatever she had which meant she might have come down with some kind of alien illness. She hoped that she wasn't going to die, she might have recently had flu-like symptoms but it could turn into something much worse in the near future. Haxus felt anxious too, he didn't know what was ailing his mate and he did everything in his power not to think of the worst case scenario, he kept trying to convince himself that she only had a bad case of the space flu. As soon as he walked into the infirmary and let (Y/n) turn the light on Haxus carried (Y/n) to the padded examination table and carefully laid her on it, pressing a delicate kiss on her lips; he'd be lying if he said that he wasn't nervous because he was, he could even hear (Y/n's) heart pounding within her chest. It would only be a few moments before he found out what she had, although the obvious answer was literally the only thing they hadn't taken into consideration.
"Whatever it is you have I'll take care of you." Haxus spoke softly while gazing into (Y/n's) eyes, assuring her that he would always be there for her.
"What if I'm going to die, though? I don't want to leave you so soon." (Y/n) replied nervously, feeling scared about what kind of illness she could have caught.
"You're not going to die, I promise." Haxus spoke calmly, gently caressing the side of her face while giving her a reassuring smile.
(Y/n) had to take a deep breath, trying to calm herself down as much as possible; she didn't want to make herself more sick if she had a panic attack because they still didn't know what she had. She watched Haxus walk over to the drawer where the ancient altean diagnosis scanner was kept, the air in the infirmary felt a little chilly which didn't help her nerves, but she had to remain calm. It took a couple of minutes for Haxus to figure out how to use the old piece of technology, thankfully it still worked and he was back by (Y/n's) side in no time. He pushed a button and a beam of green light ran up and down her torso area a couple of times, he just hoped it would help him figure out what illness she caught. (Y/n) laid perfectly still on the table while he held the scanner over her body, staring up at the ceiling to keep herself distracted.
"You're going to have to take your shirt off." Haxus said flatly after looking at the blurry image on the screen; apparently ancient altean diagnosis scanners couldn't work properly if clothes were in the way, which he found annoying.
"Did it not work? A-alright, I'm just glad that the others aren't here." (Y/n) replied anxiously, sitting up and removing her shirt so she could lay it across her legs.
Haxus nodded curtly and reset the scanner, glancing at (Y/n) when she removed her shirt; her new pheromones filled his nose and her scent smelled a little too good to him, but he couldn't allow himself to get distracted. (Y/n) felt her body heat up when she saw Haxus looking at her, just because they'd seen each other naked several times didn't mean she didn't still feel flustered around him. She shivered a little when she laid down again, feeling the cool altean leather pressing against her mostly bare back sent a shiver sweeping through her. (Y/n) tried her best not to let the anticipation get the better of her, if she was sick with something then she could probably get some medicine or spend some time in a healing pod, it wasn't like she could have possibly had cancer. Haxus pressed the on button and held the scanner over her body for a second time, letting the ancient piece of tech do its job; an image showed up on the screen about a tick later, causing his eyes to widen and his heart to nearly stop.
"What's wrong with me? Am I going to die?" (Y/n) inquired with a terrified tone, feeling as though she was about to break down crying because of how scared she felt; Haxus was just staring at the screen and she couldn't see what he was staring at.
"You're not dying. I- I just can't believe it." Haxus replied, barely able to speak after getting snapped out of his thoughts.
"What can't you believe?" (Y/n) questioned, becoming more and more scared with each passing second.
"That you're pregnant." Haxus answered, his voice barely above a whisper when he spoke; he should have realized it sooner that he'd gotten (Y/n) pregnant, all of her symptoms finally made sense.
"I'm pregnant?" (Y/n) asked Haxus with uncertainty when she sat up, wondering if she heard him right; they had been having a lot of sex after her period ended, so it wasn't like it wasn't possible because it totally was, although she didn't think that it would happen so soon.
Haxus looked at her with a solemn expression on his face, feeling bad for not being more responsible; they hadn't even discussed having children and she was keeping him hidden from the paladins, it wasn't exactly the best time to bring children into the universe. Over the time he knew (Y/n) Haxus came to the realization that he wouldn't mind having kids with her in the future, although he always thought it would happen after they found a place on a planet to settle down on. In the meantime, (Y/n) was internally panicking because she just found out that she was pregnant, as in she could possibly be having a real life baby within the upcoming few months. Babies were a lot of work and if hers looked anything like Haxus then the paladins would know that she saved him and they were in a relationship, but at the same time she felt just a tiny bit excited about having a baby with her significant other. Based on Haxus' reaction to the news (Y/n) could tell he had mixed feelings about becoming a father, although he seemed a little happy about it, too.
"I understand if you don't want to continue the pregnancy, we haven't even discussed having children together. I apologize for doing this to you, I'll take full responsibility for whatever you choose because I love you." Haxus spoke up as he broke the silence, his heart nearly breaking when he imagined the worst case scenario; he got (Y/n) pregnant and he would respect her decision about how she wanted to handle the situation.
"I know that it's not the best time to have a baby, but I don't want to get rid of them either. I- I'm ready to have one with you. A baby, I mean." (Y/n) responded quietly while looking right into Haxus' eyes, she had the beginning of a whole living being growing inside of her and if everything went well then in the next nine months they would be parents.
"Then we'll leave together before you begin showing, if the others find out then we'll be separated and I'll never see you again. I want to live somewhere safe with you where we won't be torn apart, but until I find somewhere you need to take time off from your duties." Haxus replied in a soft voice, he didn't want (Y/n) to risk miscarrying since she wanted to continue her pregnancy.
(Y/n) covered her mouth with one hand and closed her eyes, letting out a sob as she started crying; she was feeling even more emotional than before and she knew it was her early pregnancy hormones, but she felt a little better when she felt Haxus gently hug her. She felt comforted by his embrace, Haxus was very loyal and she knew he would never leave her in such a vulnerable condition, although she knew he would be way more protective of her now that she was pregnant with what would be their baby. It seemed almost too surreal, Haxus could hardly believe that he got (Y/n) pregnant so easily, he would do everything he could to find somewhere safe for them to live where no one would harm them. He let go of his mate after a few minutes so she could put her shirt back on and he could turn the diagnosis scanner off prior to putting it away, that way he could carry (Y/n) back to their room. With the knowledge he was going to be a father Haxus already felt more protective of (Y/n) and their unborn kit, he didn't mind giving into his parental instincts; for the time being, he wanted to have some quality snuggle time with his mate in their room.
____________
As if it happened by clockwork (Y/n's) stomach started hurting around the time evening would be happening since she still went by the time frame from where she came from on Earth. The paladins wouldn't be coming back to the castle until after their usual dinner time which meant Haxus would be able to help (Y/n) with her morning sickness, although they called it evening sickness because it happened in the evening, not the morning. (Y/n) wasn't scared about having some deadly illness anymore because the true cause of her sickness wasn't a mystery anymore, but she still strongly disliked having to throw up every evening. When (Y/n's) stomach started hurting worse Haxus carefully carried her to the bathroom so that she wouldn't get sick in their room, neither of them necessarily wanted to clean up such a mess. The young woman was thankful to have such a loving boyfriend, they both cared about each other very much and she even loved him when his old saltiness showed during certain situations.
After a while of waiting in the bathroom (Y/n) threw up just as she'd expected, her eyes watering as she emptied her stomach. Haxus remained kneeling behind her while she threw up in the toilet, carefully holding her hair out of the way with one hand whilst soothingly rubbing her back with the other. Watching and hearing (Y/n) choking and gagging made his stomach churn a little; after what he'd seen during his life he didn't get queasy very often, but Haxus figured that it was because he was close with her and she meant everything to him. (Y/n) hated having to get sick every evening for the next few months, at least by her second trimester she most likely wouldn't have to deal with it anymore and she could get back to having relaxing evenings. By the time she finished throwing up and gagging (Y/n's) whole body felt sore and achy, she looked forward to when she and Haxus could cuddle on their bed again.
"Let me get you a cup of water, once everything's cleaned up I'll take you back to our room." Haxus said after he was positive (Y/n) had finished, he didn't want her to get sick again before he could help her clean up.
(Y/n) let out a quiet groan in acknowledgement and rested the side of her face on the cold toilet seat, she couldn't wait to clean her mouth out so she wouldn't have to taste bile anymore. She heard Haxus walking around behind her followed by the sink turning on and off, then he was by her side again within a couple of minutes. Haxus helped her rinse her mouth out and even wiped her lower face off, (Y/n) thanked him after her mouth was cleaned out; she couldn't recall what happened next but she heard the toilet flush right before she was carefully picked up. Haxus quickly tossed the dirty washcloth into the laundry chute and put the cup on the counter prior to flushing the toilet and carefully picking his mate up off of the floor. The next thing (Y/n) knew after being carried back down the hallway was they were back on their bed, laying amongst the many blankets and pillows that made their bed comfy; after they found out that she was pregnant Haxus managed to find a few extra fluffy blankets to add to their blanket nest.
"Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to have our baby in a few months, but I really hate having evening sickness." (Y/n) spoke once she and Haxus were settled on their bed, a light blanket covering both of them.
"I can't wait either, I don't like seeing you sick." Haxus replied, speaking in a caring tone as he carefully placed a hand over her lower belly.
"Since when did you start getting so sweet?" (Y/n) questioned; Haxus was a loving boyfriend, but she'd never known him to act as sweet and loving as he was during that particular moment.
"I've been more 'sweet', as you put it, ever since I realized that I fell in love with you. You're my mate and we're going to have a kit together, before you know it we're going to have a home of our own where we can live normal lives. I love you, darling." Haxus answered lovingly, purring softly when he lightly nuzzled the back of her left ear.
"I love you too, hottie." (Y/n) mumbled, feeling sleepy since she'd thrown up less than twenty minutes prior; with her being pregnant her body needed extra time to rest, so she would take a little nap before they went to go eat a simple dinner together.
Haxus loved cuddling with her on their bed more than anything, it was his way of getting away from the world and his worries for a while, and with (Y/n) being pregnant he wanted to be near her all the time to make sure she was comfortable and had everything she needed. She was carrying a half galra baby, so he knew her pregnancy would be different than what humans typically went through and the rest of her symptoms would be unknown, it wasn't like there were a lot of galra-human pairs in the universe; in fact, Haxus couldn't even name one because he didn't personally know any. (Y/n) never imagined that someone like Haxus could become a polar opposite of who he used to be, she was thankful she was the one who found him instead of someone else. With a baby on the way their lives would certainly be different; Haxus promised himself that he would take care of (Y/n) and their child, no matter what.
