It's a date

Ever since Haxus started courting (Y/n) she wanted to ask him out on a date and introduce him to one of the most obvious Earthen courtship traditions, although actually going on a date while living in the middle of space was kind of difficult. Within the past year Allura and Coran taught (Y/n) how to fly one of the old altean pods and with some practice she was pretty good at it, that way in case of an emergency she would be able to help out. It was a while before the paladins left the castle for a few hours, so in the meantime she focused on planning said date for when the perfect opportunity presented itself. (Y/n) hadn't really been on any dates/very many dates and living in a spaceship didn't help, but she wasn't expecting to find a boyfriend and thankfully now she could plan dates for them to go on together while he courted her the traditional galra way. She eventually decided to take him to the nearest planet so they could spend some quality time outside where they could relax.

Finally the day came when Coran and the paladins would be gone for the entire day, leaving (Y/n) to keep an eye on things; the castle would obviously be safe on its own, so nothing bad would happen while she was out with Haxus. Everything was set for their date and (Y/n) even had the perfect outfit picked out, the only problem was that she hadn't asked Haxus out yet because before that day came she wasn't sure when she'd be able to take him out. As soon as the others were gone she walked all the way to her and Haxus' room, taking a deep breath before she unlocked it only to see her sexy boyfriend already standing behind the door. (Y/n) felt awkward when her gaze met his; she wasn't expecting to see him standing there, but she didn't mind because he looked as though he was ready to come out. Haxus, on the other hand, had been waiting for (Y/n) to come get him once the others were gone.

"Um… Hey Haxus, I was just coming to get you so that I can ask you something kind of important." (Y/n) spoke as normally as she could even though she felt flustered, if she was lucky then he wouldn't think she was crazy.

"And what, pray tell, is so important that you rushed here to ask me? Would you perhaps want to 'make out' with me again?" Haxus smoothly asked (Y/n), tilting his head slightly to the right while cocking his left hip.

"I mean, making out sounds really tempting right now… No, I'm going to stay on task. Since galra don't do this then I'm going to ask you. Haxus, do you want to go out on a date with me?" (Y/n) replied with a distracted tone, forcing herself to ask him on a date even though she felt anxious.

"A date? Ah, yes, I remember. So then you're finally asking me out on a date; it would be my honor to go on one with you." Haxus responded while grinning down at his intended mate, feeling excited to try a common human courtship method.

"Great! I- I mean- Come on, let's go. I've already picked the perfect place and it's not too far from here. We'll be back before the others come back." (Y/n) rejoiced before she beckoned him to follow her to the pod bay; she was already wearing her outfit, so she was already ready to go.

Haxus smiled softly and followed (Y/n), wondering exactly where she was taking him; he hadn't been outside since before she saved him, so going somewhere outside of the castle seemed almost too good to be true. He remembered back when (Y/n) invited him on a picnic; she denied they were on a date that day, although now that he was courting her she didn't seem as shy about going out with him. On the way to the pod bay (Y/n) and Haxus walked side by side, their fingers laced together as they held each other's hands. (Y/n) was just so excited to finally take Haxus somewhere outdoors; she couldn't pronounce the name of the planet but it had a beautiful forest with a few lakes that were below waterfalls. She wasn't sure when their next date would be or if they would have one, luckily it gave her more than enough time to plan it.

"Where are you taking me?" Haxus asked (Y/n) when they entered the pod bay, his curiosity getting the better of him.

"I can't exactly pronounce the name of it, but I've seen pictures and it's covered with a forest landscape and there's plenty of creatures to see." (Y/n) replied, looking up at him for a moment; she felt kind of embarrassed for not being able to pronounce the name of the planet, although sometimes alien words just didn't translate to English very well.

"A surprise, then. You never fail to intrigue me." Haxus responded; going to an unknown location with his girlfriend had a certain mysterious feeling to it and it added a sense of adventure to his life, something he hadn't felt in a very long time.

Going out on a real date felt foreign to (Y/n) and Haxus; neither of them were used to it but both of them couldn't wait until they reached their destination. Haxus thought (Y/n) was cute when she was so determined to do something with him or take him somewhere, being around her made him feel as though his future would be wonderful, no matter what twists and turns life took. (Y/n) wasn't focused on the future during that moment, only the present because she was about to go out on a date with Haxus; she didn't care that he was hundreds of human years old, or rather thirty nine years old in galra years from what he told her, all that mattered was that they loved each other. It wasn't long before they were buckled safely in one of the old altean pods so (Y/n) could fly them to their date destination, thankfully she put the coordinates in the ship's GPS earlier without anyone knowing. She and Haxus talked on the way to the planet, although (Y/n) played the radio as well when she found a station that played lovely alien music.

With the new speed settings Pidge installed in all of the ancient altean pods the trip to (Y/n's) chosen date location didn't take long, the whole flight lasting just a little over an hour. During their flight together Haxus' eyes were blown wide as he looked out the window at the vastness of space; he hadn't been out of the castle in such a long time that he'd forgotten what it was like. (Y/n) felt bad that he had to stay hidden most of the time, she knew he had cabin fever and she would make a point to take him out on more flights and trips in the future whenever they had the opportunity. As soon as they made it to their destination and exited the small ship Haxus had to use one of his hands to provide shade over his eyes so he could help himself adjust to the light of the two suns in the sky, completely unused to natural light by that point. (Y/n) stood next to him and waited for his vision to adjust, knowing it might take him a while; the closest thing they had to being outside was Kaltenecker's room, so his little predicament was perfectly understandable.

"I forgot how bright planets with two suns are." Haxus commented while he stood next to the altean pod and his girlfriend, using his right hand to provide a little shade over his eyes.

"It's a bit brighter than Earth for sure, I should have bought a pair of sunglasses for you. I'm sorry." (Y/n) apologized, feeling guilty for not knowing to provide some form of protection for her boyfriend's eyes.

"My vision will adjust soon." Haxus assured her; he knew she didn't mean to forget that he wasn't used to sunlight, although he felt frustrated because of how bright the two suns were to him.

Being on a planet felt nice to both of them, even though Haxus wasn't used to being outside after living in the castle ship for such a long time; (Y/n) sometimes got to go with the paladins to different planets, unfortunately she couldn't bring Haxus with her. (Y/n) patiently waited for Haxus' vision to adjust, feeling excited to explore the strange forest planet with her often salty yet adorable boyfriend who was still learning how to be a civilian. Eventually Haxus' vision adjusted better to accommodate the sunlight and he followed (Y/n) through the tall pink grass to a trail; it was nearly sunset on the beautiful planet, although to him it was still bright. The forest around them was peaceful, just as she hoped it would be and it looked better than it did in the pictures. (Y/n) wasn't quite used to the songs of alien birds yet, although to her the sounds of nature sounded serene.

"Sooo… Do you like it?" (Y/n) asked Haxus with curiosity while they walked together; she was having fun thus far, but she wanted to make sure he was enjoying himself too.

"Our date? Yes, I do; it's quite enjoyable, especially when I'm with the most beautiful woman in the universe." Haxus answered, flirting with (Y/n) a bit just to make her flustered.

"Aw, I don't know if I'm that beautiful." (Y/n) responded bashfully, flattered that he thought she was the most beautiful woman in the universe; she honestly didn't think she was that pretty, but hearing him say so made her feel as though she had butterflies in her stomach.

"You are to me; I've seen many beautiful women during my life but you're the only one I've considered actually courting. The way your hair shines in the sunlight reminds me of the beautiful desert grasses blowing in the wind on Daibazaal and I love how your eyes sparkle as though someone put all of the stars in them." Haxus spoke softly, voicing two of her many physical features he loved most about her; he wanted to go on and on, but there were too many things he loved about (Y/n).

(Y/n) averted her gaze when she felt her face heat up, not wanting him to see how badly she was blushing; she never thought he was capable of saying such things, it was awfully sweet of him, though. He used to be so closed off and critical of everything, it was hard to believe he was capable of having a soft side, although after everything he'd been through during his life it was kind of understandable why he wasn't the classic lovey dovey type. Honestly, it was still kind of unbelievable that she was actually in a romantic relationship with Haxus, but over the time they'd known each other they created a special bond and she knew he would never hurt her, at least not on purpose. (Y/n) didn't dwell on it long so that she could just enjoy her date with Haxus; she didn't have anything specific planned which gave them the opportunity to just explore and enjoy their surroundings, the young woman making sure to keep track of time. She usually associated silence between two people with awkwardness, but with Haxus during that day they didn't necessarily have to talk to each other in order to enjoy each other's company.

During their walk a shiny (E/c) rock on the side of the trail caught Haxus' eye and he knew he had to give it to (Y/n); it matched the color of her eyes almost perfectly, making it the perfect courtship gift to give to her. He waited for the perfect moment before he silently bent down and picked it up, holding it in his left hand so he could keep it safe until he could give it to her. Haxus looked at the petite human woman in front of him and smiled, finally feeling truly content with one of his many life decisions. He promptly walked a little faster in hopes that she didn't notice he wasn't next to her for a few seconds; he didn't want them to accidentally get separated, so he walked right next to her. (Y/n) didn't notice her boyfriend lagging behind for a few moments seeing as she was preoccupied with the forest around them, although after walking through a particularly dense area they came to a cliff that revealed a beautiful meadow below, dotted with alien wildflowers of different kinds.

"Woah, I didn't know this was here. It's so… Beautiful." (Y/n) whispered in awe when they stopped walking, both of them admiring the beautiful scenery.

"It is, very much so. But do you know what's more beautiful?" Haxus responded, speaking with an equally quiet tone before getting her attention.

"What?" (Y/n) queried, curious as to what could have possibly been more beautiful than the sight in front of them.

"You are; the way you glow in the evening light makes you look like a heavenly being. Here, I have something you might like." Haxus answered, once again speaking from his heart before he quickly changed the subject.

(Y/n) just stood there, her eyes wide and her heart racing within her chest as she listened to what he had to say; she knew he thought she was beautiful but the way he said it really touched her soul. She watched as he knelt down in front of her and held his left hand out a little; at first she thought he was holding a bug until he opened his hand and revealed the shiny rock that was almost the same color as her eyes. It was sweet of him to find such a beautiful rock; she didn't know where he found it or how long he'd been carrying it, but she loved its beautiful (E/c) color. (Y/n) was surprised by how smooth the nearly perfectly round rock felt to the touch when she took it and held it in her hands, liking how it fit right in her palms. Haxus watched (Y/n) take the rock from him so she could admire it up close, happy with himself for finding such a lovely courtship gift to give her on such short notice.

"It's so beautiful. Thank you, Hax." (Y/n) spoke softly when her gaze met his, beaming at him with a loving smile; she stepped closer to him, hoping to receive a kiss.

"A beautiful gift for a beautiful woman." Haxus said quietly before he closed his eyes, wrapped his arms around (Y/n's) midsection and leaned in for a loving kiss as a soft purr rumbled deep within his chest.

(Y/n) quickly put the rock in one of her pockets where it would be safe so she could kiss her boyfriend, closing her own eyes and wrapping her arms around the back of his neck. When their lips met it felt as though sparks were flying; to (Y/n), kissing Haxus made her feel as though she was turning into a puddle of warm goo and to Haxus the kiss felt as though all of her love for him was being transferred directly to him via lip contact, a sensation he didn't know existed before he first kissed her. (Y/n) caressed the back of Haxus' head while they kissed each other, a quiet moan slipping past her lips when his sharp teeth lightly grazed her bottom lip. She felt the tip of his tongue prodding her lips after a few moments, although she decided to be a tease and deny him access. A full body shudder swept through her when a frustrated growl worked its way up his throat; she wasn't teasing him in such a way to be mean, but she wanted to make him desperate to make out with her.

Haxus didn't like being denied access to his mate's mouth, so he reached down and lightly squeezed her left butt cheek, earning a gasp and the opportunity to slip his tongue inside her mouth while simultaneously making sure he didn't accidentally hurt her with his teeth. (Y/n) let out a startled squeak when Haxus grabbed her butt; she wasn't expecting him to be so bold, even though she probably should have seen it coming and she granted him access to her mouth. Making out wasn't exactly the easiest task in the universe because of their size difference and his sharp teeth, thankfully they were able to make it work. The young woman breathed heavily during their make-out session and she could feel Haxus doing the same, and if they had enough time she was sure they would be doing a lot more than kissing. Their first date together turned out to be a huge success and neither of them could wait to do it again in the future, they just had to wait for the perfect opportunity.
