A shocking find
After the whole situation when Sendak and Haxus tried to take over the Castle of Lions, everyone was on edge. (Y/n) had hidden in her room throughout the entire ordeal and until Allura came to look for her once the Paladins captured Sendak. About one week afterwards, (Y/n) found herself in one of the lower levels of the Castle. (Y/n) helped out around the Castle by keeping everything clean, so she decided to start cleaning the lower levels. While she was exploring, (Y/n) heard something that sounded like a moan of agony.
The tiny hairs on the back of her neck stood on end and she broke out in a cold sweat as she stood perfectly still, wondering what made the noise. (Y/n) heard the moan again; it sounded male and it kind of freaked her out. The Paladins were all outside training and Coran was with them, so she should have been alone. Sendak was gone and Pidge told her that Haxus died; (Y/n) was scared that Haxus' ghost was there to haunt the Castle.
"H-hello?" (Y/n) nervously called out, ready to run back to the elevator if someone else was there.
Haxus, who was barely conscious, heard footsteps; he thought that someone was there, but he wasn't sure if he was hearing correctly. When he heard a female voice call out he tried to answer, unable to care who heard him. After his fall, Haxus was stuck in the lower levels of the Castle with a broken left leg, a fractured right arm, a few broken ribs and a concussion. (Y/n) heard the groan again and cautiously walked to where it came from, scared of what she was going to find. When (Y/n) turned the corner, she saw someone that she wasn't expecting to find; Haxus.
"Y-you!" (Y/n) exclaimed in shock, pointing directly at the broken, skinny male as he laid on the floor.
Haxus groaned as he turned his head to look at (Y/n), his eyes barely open as he gazed at her. He promptly went unconscious, letting out a weak sigh. In an odd way, (Y/n) felt bad for Haxus; he was basically abandoned in his time of need and left to die. He was a bad person who did many terrible things to innocent people during his life, but leaving him to die would make (Y/n) as bad as the Galra Empire. So, the human walked over to the unconscious male and wrapped her arms under his armpits, knowing exactly what she needed to do.
__________
(Y/n) breathed a sigh of relief as she pushed a button on the healing pod, making it move down its chute. She managed to drag Haxus into the elevator and then to the infirmary so that she could put him in a healing pod. She had to take his armor off and hide it so that no one would find it, knowing that she would be in trouble if the others found out that she was helping an enemy. The Paladins, Allura and Coran were pretty much busy 24/7, so there wasn't much of a risk of them finding out about Haxus. As (Y/n) left the infirmary, she went to the lounge so that she could relax.
"Oh, you guys are back." (Y/n) said in surprise when the other set of lounge doors slid open and she saw everyone walk in before she could sit down.
"Yep." Pidge answered, not looking up from her laptop.
(Y/n) walked into the lounge, trying not to look as though she were hiding something. She casually sat down next to Shiro, who was one of her best friends. Everyone looked a little tired after whatever Coran had them doing; she was glad that she wasn't a Paladin. Although, flying a giant robot lion and saving people did sound fun sometimes. Even though she wasn't a Paladin, everyone else considered her an important member of their team
"How were the lower levels?" Shiro inquired in a casual way, not suspecting anything.
"O-oh, you know, super dirty." (Y/n) replied, stuttering a little; she had to get Haxus off of her mind.
"You know, if you want help cleaning down there the others and I would be willing to help." Shiro offered, knowing how hard (Y/n) worked to keep everything clean and tidy.
"No, it's fine; really. You need to focus on being the new Black Paladin. It's a big job." (Y/n) assured him, knowing that someone might accidentally come across Haxus' armor if they helped you clean up the lower castle levels.
"If you say so, and you're right; it is a big job." Shiro agreed, smiling at the girl next to him; he liked how thoughtful and hard working she was.
(Y/n) smiled at him before changing the subject, trying to get her mind off of the earlier events. She really enjoyed talking to Shiro and the other Paladins, as well as Allura and Coran. As long as they didn't find out about Haxus, everything was going to be fine. However, (Y/n) couldn't help but wonder what would happen when Haxus healed and woke up. She decided to not think about it for the time being, knowing that it would be a while before he came out of the healing pod.
