Steve and I sat in his car after he pulled into my driveway. "Thanks for taking me out tonight, I really appreciate it. Even if my brother did ruin it." I softly said. "I had a lot of fun, I hope we can do it again by the end of summer." Steve says as I grab my bag from the back seat. "Do you, maybe want to come in? My mom had to work late and I don't know where my brother is." I asked. "Maybe next time. I'm extremely tired from work. Tomorrow works though." Steve says. "You don't work tomorrow?" I asked. "I do, but it's not a long shift." He nods.
I nod as I climb out of his car. "I'll see you at work tomorrow." I smiled before closing the door of his car and walking up the steps to my house. I really didn't want to be alone after the power outage. My hand found the door and pushed it open with my weight as I heard Steve pull out of my driveway. My short legs carried me to my bed room before collapsing on my bed.
My life still hasn't been the same ever since Steve and I were stuck down there with those demo-dogs. Whenever I had night mares, I could still feel their slimy skin on my legs, and it terrified me. Their skin literally felt like wet raisins, a terrible thing to think of.
A knock on my door made my thought come to a close. I groaned as I stood up, but still trudged to the door.
"What-. Steve? I thought you just left?" I opened the door. "You forgot your jacket. I thought you would like it back." Steve says as he holds it out for me to take. "Thanks." I softly said as I grabbed it and put it on the hook by the door. "Do you mind if I come in? I don't really want to go home."
"I invited you in earlier, so the invitation still stands." I beamed before opening the door wider so he can step in. Steve steps in the house and moves away from the door so I can close it. "Sorry about the mess, I'm guessing my mom started making dinner but left for work in the middle of it. Thank god she turned the stove off." I said as I stepped into the kitchen for a drink.
"Do you want anything to drink?" I asked. "No, I'm okay." Steve says as he sits down on the couch. I shrug my shoulders and grab a water from our refrigerator.
"We can hang out in my room if you would like, it's probably more comfortable, my moms had that couch since forever." I said as I opened my water bottle and took a gulp of it. Steve nods before following me down the hallway. My door slid open and we stepped in. Steve and I sat down on my bed and talked about random things.
"Can I be honest with you?" I asked while adjusting so I was facing him. Steve nodded and focused his attention on me. "Every single time I have a nightmare about the demo-dogs, I can literally feel their skin on my legs. It's terrifying. It feels like they're actually there, and I'm scared." I confessed. Steve pulled me into his arms and hugged me tightly. "I got you, it's going to be okay. You're going to be okay. I promise you." Steve said as he rested his hand on my head, which in turn made my face be buried in his chest.
"Please, don't let me go. I'm scared something is going to happen. The power just doesn't go out at the mall and doesn't turn back on, they have a back up generator." I said into Steve's chest. Steve's never seen me this hurt, but I figured since we were kind of best friends, he should see me this way. Tears escaped my eyes as I thought about what could happen to us. Sure, a couple months ago we fought demo-dogs and the year before that we fought a whole demogorgon, but I was still terrified.
"I promise you, I'm going to be by your side. No one or anything is going to hurt you." Steve says. I sigh into his chest before pulling away. My bottom traps between my teeth as I pulled my knees up to my chest.
"Angel, we've been through everything together. We had to babysit just a couple months ago together while fighting demo-dogs or whatever your brother called it. I'm pretty sure we can take on anything together." Steve says as he lays his hand on my shoulder. I look up at him as I released my lip and dropped my knees. My tear filled eyes looked up to meet his soft, concerned eyes.
"Steve?" I asked as he gazed into my eyes. His other hand came up and rested on my cheek in attempt to wipe my tears away.
"I'm sorry for dumping my problems all over you." I sighed as I leaned into his touch. "You're my best friend, I'd do anything for you." Steve smiles. "If we're being honest, you're one of my only friends that are actually my age. Other than Robin of course." Steve continues as I adjust my legs so I was more comfortable.
There was a moment of silence between us as we stared into each other's eyes. "Angel?" Steve asks as he pulls his hand away from my cheek and stood up. "Does your vinyl player work?" He asked as he gestured to it. "No, Dustin broke it a few months ago." I answered as I stood up with him. He nodded as I stood closer to him. He sighed and looked down at me with a small smile on his face.
"Forget it." I murmured to my self before leaning up and kissing his lips. He gasped, but returned the kiss as he pulled me closer to his body. My heart raced as we kissed.
As we kissed, my hands came up and rested on the base of his neck. Our bodies molded together as we held each other very closely. If it wasn't for air becoming a scarce source, I would have stayed there forever. We pulled away, but stayed extremely close.
"I've wanted to do that for ages now." I murmured softly. "Trust me, me too." He smiles before kissing me again.
