Dustin got ready for the snow ball as I sat out on the porch. I couldn't stop thinking about Steve. I know it's bad since he likes my best friend, but it broke my heart. Over the past couple of nights, I finally realized I liked him and it wasn't just because we were hanging out.
The way his eyes light up when he sees my brother, the way he laughs as something stupid I say, or when he just takes care of all of us. Even if it does mean he could get killed.
A familiar car pulled up in our driveway. I looked up from my hands and saw Steve getting out of his car. I stood up and strolled over to his car as he waited for my brother.
"Hey." I greeted as I leaned against the hood of his car. "Hey." He smiled as he stood next to me. "My brothers taking forever, sorry about that." I sighed. "It's fine." Steve slightly smiled. "Are you okay?" He asked me a couple moments later. "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" I enquired as I looked up at him. "You're just giving off that vibe that you're upset." Steve gently says as he moves closer to me. "I just have a lot on my mind." I said. Technically, it wasn't a lie.
"Well, if you ever need to talk, you can always come over or call. I don't mind. I'm probably going to be there for awhile since I have to study for Finals." Steve says. "Me too, I'm probably not even going to the dance for high schoolers." I sighed as I crossed my arms over my chest. "Me too. I really need to study." Steve softly says.
I slowly nodded as we stood in silence. "So, you and Gaby?" I questioned. "We decided to just be friends. She's going to college soon." Steve sadly says. "I'm sorry, if it helps I'm staying in Hawkins." I shrugged as I looked up at him. He was already looking down at me.
"Yeah, it actually does." He softly laughed. "Did you hear that a mall was opening?" I asked. "I did, actually. I'm thinking of getting a job there." Steve says. "Me too." I nodded as I looked into his eyes. His eyes flicked to my lips as we stared. Steve's whole body moved as he leaned in to kiss me. I shifted so I was facing him. Our lips were about to touch, but my front door flew open. Both of us jumped away from each other before looking up at the porch.
"Harrington!" My brother exclaimed as he stepped out. Steve politely smiled at me before turning his attention to my brother. "We should get going! I'm already running late trying to fix my hair!" My brother exclaimed. I smiled at the two of them. "I'll let you guys go then. I'll see you at School, Harrington." I weakly smiled before walking up to the house and disappearing inside. I said goodnight to my mom before disappearing into my room.
My whole body plopped onto my bed. I almost kissed Steve Harrington, but by idiot brother had to ruin it.

The whole summer was filled with me applying for jobs, and it was very stressful. I landed the job at this new place in the mall that newly called 'Scoops Ahoy.' I started about two weeks ago, and I've had a blast so far.
Steve and I haven't talked since the snowball, but he did hang out with my brother before Dustin went to camp.
My door slid open to reveal Steve himself. "Hey!" I greeted as I looked through the papers. "Hey." He greeted as he sat down on my bed.
"So, I got a job." He smiled. "Where?" I asked. "This place called Scoops Ahoy. It's in the mall." Steve says. "Shut up." I said as I looked up. "Why?" He laughed. I laughed as I stood up and walked towards my closet to reveal my sailors uniform. "What!" Steve exclaimed as he stood up and grabbed it from my hands. "We got the same job at the same place." I laughed as I moved around him to my bed. Steve placed it back in my closet and sat down on my bed again.
"When do you start?" He asked. "I started two weeks ago." I laughed. "I start tomorrow. Do you work tomorrow?" He asked. "Yeah." I said as I put my papers on my nightstand.
"Cool." He smiled. I laid down on my bed as we continued to talk. "I actually came over to see if your brother was home yet, but then I realized you were home so here I am." Steve laughs. "So I'm the second option?" I joked. "Yep!" He laughs. I laugh as he moves to lay his head on my stomach.
"Do you ever think about how those Demo-dogs could have killed us?" I asked as we calmed down. "Yeah, I do actually." Steve says. I nod as my hand rests on his chest. "What if El wasn't opening the gate at the same time. We could have been dead." I said. "Your right. But let's not think about this. Let's talk about our new job!" Steve exclaimed.

The next day as I was cleaning the counters at work, Steve strolled in with his uniform on. "Looking sharp." I laughed. "You look cute in your uniform, I look like a weird sailor." Steve compliments. "Hey, Angel? Could you help these people while I take my break?" Robin asked. "Sure!" I said before walking over to them.
"What can I help you with?" I asked. "Uh, hi! Can I get a scoop of chocolate ice cream, please?" A older woman asked. "Sure! Cone or cup?" I asked. She thought for a moment. "I'll take a cup, please and thank you." She smiled. "Of course. That will be 5.43." I said. She nodded and handed me a 10 dollar bill. I opened the register and pulled out her change. "Here's your change." I smiled as I handed it to her before starting her ice cream. Steve and Robin talked in the back as I worked. "And here's your ice cream! Have a nice day!" I smiled at her before she left. "Thank you!" She called over her shoulder. I smiled before cleaning off the spoon and wiping down the counters.
Steve emerges from the back room as I did so with Robin in tow. "So, we found out we all graduated at the same time." Robin laughs. "Really? I knew Steve did because we've been friends since middle school, but I didn't see you?" I said. "Yeah, I was the quiet type." She lightly laughed. Steve stood beside me.
"We actually dated in middle school." He joked. "Oh would you shut up with that? The closest thing we did was hug." I laughed. Robin laughed as Mike, Lucas, Max, and Will walked in. "Hey guys." I greeted. "Hey, Angel!" Max smiles. "You work here now?" Lucas asked as he pointed to Steve. "Yup." Steve laughs. "Oh Dustin's going to have a blast with this." Mike laughs.
"Who's Dustin?" Robin asked. "My little brother. He's at camp. He thinks Steve and I are destined to be together." I rolled my eyes. "Anyways, what can I get you guys?" I asked.
