chapter 1

A distress signal having been sent out on the hero network from the President’s office had them all congregating,

only those in the top were permitted through the top floors, as heroes congregated in the lower levels in an attempt to contain the rioters that had stormed the building.

It’s only himself, Endeavor, Best Jeanist, and Miruko who make their way up to Madam’s office, senses heightened, ready for an attack of an unknown kind.

Just then the door to madam's office was blown off its hinges, landing 5 feet away from the  four pro's, Tanaka is tossed out shortly, and a familiar face hawk's thoughts he'd never see again, not since those seven years have passed, emerged.

"As i stand here 'madam', i Can't HELP, but comment."  The small figure said, his tail eagerly moved left and right, twitching like a predator in wait.

Hawks remembered that voice, the voice that accompanied their small banter time and time again. the voice that often had gotten concerned when he showed up worse for wear, after his punishment was issued from madam pres.

the voice he was forced to betray.

The figure in question was small, 5,9 at the shoulders, his height only reaching hawks chest.

His hair was long reaching past his shoulders, and down to his midsection, covering one side of his face. it look wild, unkept, like grass on a lawn.

Upon his face, hawks had noticed something, red markings around his eye, he had only briefly seen them once when the owner was under his care,

he didn't make a move to question them and his charge didn't seem keen on explaining them.

His eye's were red, ruby in color fading into a dark crimson at the top. A small grin was on his face as he crouched down towards the former president. His tail, long and charcoal grey, red at the sharp tip, moved slowly left and right, as if waiting.

" you commission folk always boasted of your god hood your ability to have japan the cesspool of disgust it is, but.... yet..."

he trailed off, then without warning, his tail shot forward, stabbing the older woman in the shoulder.

She shrieked, by reflex she tried to stand and suddenly a foot crashed down, roughly sending her back to ground harshly, her head smacked against the floor with a faint crack, possibly concussed.

"your here, lying down like a begging dog, Your godhood gone in no less then an hour, and requiring the help of pathetic puppets."

He sneered as he glared down at the hapless woman before him.

" although, you seem... surprised to see me here, i wonder why, you CALLED me Daemon! You surely must've known that demons are spiteful entities, after all that's why im here... you must've known I'd come back.... RIGHT!?"

As he said that he raised his foot again, and This time slammed his foot down harder then before,

"STOP SQUIRMING! Your making this WAY more difficult then it has to be".

Hawks was frozen he had never seen this amount of anger coming from his former charge... at all.

He had his small moments of anger but they briefly changed into either annoyance or a mood that solved by a nap, but this?

This was pent up aggression, anger, hatred, bloodlust, something bottled up for too long and now being released at the cause of it. Miruko was wide eye'd and paused, same for best Jeanist.

Endeavor was conflicted, on one hand after learning what this woman had done for the past years, he thought she justifiably deserved that beat down,

but on the other hand they wouldn't get justice for all the other lives ruined by the commission if their main suspect was murdered.

Suddenly the child stood up his tail gently swaying to and fro," you know, i could kill you. I could make it slow and painful, as much as you made the rest of us suffer. YET as much as i want to....."

his shoulders visibly sagged, and he calmed down, his demeanor taking a complete 180.

"I cant. As much as i want to, death is giving you the easy way out, you wouldn't suffer like the rest of us. You'd be givin a free card. And i won't allow that."

He laughed slightly and got off of her, "You deserve what comes next, and-"

he stopped, and looked over at the pro's, clearly having not noticed their appearance he looked visibly surpised, and then he looked at hawks.

The anger returned while not as hostile as with the president, reigned in, it still leaked out like a broken faucet.
“You betrayed me!”  Endeavor moved, getting into a fighting stance when hawks held out both his arm's,

Blocking the other's moving closer, "You turned me over to those heathens and left me there to rot!”

his voice sounded distorted, almost like an echo, and hawks noticed his eye's again. His eye's flashed, the markings specifically going from bright to dark, a frown had etched onto his face before moving into a sneer.

“I did.” The winged hero nods sagely. “I did. And I’m sorry.”

The child let out a sigh and he looked bored, as if he heard the same line rehearsed again, and again. "You know i keep hearing that and yet..... why am i not convinced?"

He asked taking a few steps until he was a few feet in front of the winged man.

"You say your sorry but, besides the fact i KNOW you've been looking for me after i escaped, i have no reason to actually take your words seriously."

He wasn't wrong in that part of the statement.

Keigo had heard he escaped some years ago, two years to be exact, and had tried searching for him.

To begin making amends, to give him a place he belonged, offer him a home if he wanted one. He never found him. So he's a bit surprised at seeing him here.

Keigo nods. “I have nothing to offer you but a bed and a hug. If you want it.”

The kid suddenly tensed, for a couple seconds before he tilted his head and rested it in the palm of his hand.

“A bed and a hug? You honestly think that can fix everything you’ve had taken from me?” before letting the winged man speak he opened his mouth again, "if your gonna go this route, you simply must spice up your conviction abit." He moved backwards abit, a  neutral expression painted his features.

"Convince me that your serious, Convince me that I'm important enough to help. That your not wasting my time, Agent."

Keigo moved slightly forward, a small look of confusion on his face "how do i do that?"

The kid in front of him wasted no time.

"Whats, my, name? If i am as important to you as i think i am, you really must remember the name i have."  Keigo thought hard trying to remember his name "D-Daemon?"

Wrong awnser.

"no..No NO NO!"  He stomped closer throwing one hand behind him as he stepped closer to hawk's, only two feet away before pointing a finger into his chest.

"NOT DAEMON, Or seeker, and certainly not that dumb name the hag gave me, '1267-1'."

He bristled slighty.

"Those were what the other's called me, but not you, you gave me a name, a name i personally liked. I may have adopted daemon as my new name but it wasn't the one you called me."

Keigo chuckled slightly

"Don't worry, i remember, but in order for this trade of yours to work, i need you to tell me the name you called me."

Daemon laughed slighty, before a genuine smile painted his features,

"well played bird of mine, well played, because psychologically speaking if i do that im bending to YOUR terms, which is not a good spot for a person in position of power, but... hey".

He shrugged before calming walking over to hawk's, stepping over madam's body as he did, until he was standing in front of hawk's again.

"I miss having my papa bird around. It's gotten dull and lifeless without you around kei. Plus this outfit im wearing itches, it feels like it's falling apart."

Keigo sighed before slowly putting his arm's around him, pulling Daemon close to him.

"I missed my fledgling as well, i cant... tell you how many times i grieved over you fledgling, if i had any choice At the time. I would have never handed you over, im...im sorr-"

"Please stop." His voice, this time barely above a whisper stopped hawk's, "I disappeared for a good chunk of year's and all you can do now is sulk like a dejected chicken? That's not the hawk's i know....you big sap." He laughed when hawk's scooped him up, a proud smug smile on his face as tears glistened in his eye's.

The beat down he gave madam wasn't intentionally planned, his original plan was just to rough her up a bit before leaving. But now? He's tired, it'd take a bit more time until he's comfortable again with the older avian, but for now he just wants to held again.

Keigo finds himself returning to his apartment that night, well after the strike of midnight, with a soot and dust covered child in his arms. The adrenaline fueling the boy’s actions having worn away in the interrogation room where he promptly passed out.

Closing the door with his heel, he carries the boy through the living room for the bathroom, where he sets him down on the carpet in front of the bathtub.

Brushing his fingers through the teens matted hair, Daemon made a tired sound, almost like a purr, before he promptly layed on his side, a small tired dismissive wave of his hand followed suit.

Leaning over the boy’s head, he turns the dial for the water, feeling the heat of it, determining it to be too hot, he then turns the cold dial on just a bit more.

“Hey, little one,” Keigo pats the boy’s cheek lightly to wake him. “Hey little one, I need you to wake up, you got to take a quick bath before you can go to sleep.”

The red eye'd teen looked at him, a pout formed on his face before giving a tired (and admittedly cute) glare at Keigo.

"Im not going in, haven't gotten a bath before, i don't need one." Keigo laughed, “You’re covered in dust and soot, not only that but you smell bad. little one, you need to take a bath before you can get in bed.”

"Don't care, not getting up" the teen fell right back down, curling his arms under his head.

Keigo wracked his brain for something to use as a power move, It dawns on him, and he smiles, poking the boy in the belly swiftly.

“If you don’t take a bath I’m gonna pull this shirt up and tickle torture this tummy real good.” he has tickled his fledgling in the past, despite how chaotic he could be, he was always a child at heart.  Immediately Daemon shot up, a small laughed escaped his mouth before holding up both hands in a stop motion, "Woah woah woah, we don't need threats kei." He yawned before he began working at his shirt.

"One thing i don't miss is you playing dirty."

"Says the fledgling covered in dirt."
Daemon childishly stuck his tongue out at him.

The boy’s all cleaned up, dressed in clean clothes, and tucked into bed all in the span of thirty minutes. Daemon was currently sleeping in hawk's wings, he was out. He hadn't gotten any proper sleep in years.

And as much as he would deny it, he had always felt... safe in hawk's wings, granted it was also because he got cold easily and hawks was warm. A win-win.

Kegio awoke sometime in the early dawn, feeling a small weight on his chest, looking down he saw daemon sprawled out over him, laying in his back.

Keigo sighed, this was gonna be tricky.
