Hawaayein

RuMya One Shot

"Rudra! What are you doing!" She asked in a surprised tone as he put a cloth around her shut eyes, making sure she doesn't peek.

"Shh!" Rudra put a finger on his lips.

"Shh-ing won't help Rudra! Tell me what's going on?" She asked once again.

"Oh come on! Can't a guy give a surprise in peace here?" He mumbled loud enough for her to hear.

If her eyes weren't covered tightly by the black, silky cloth, she would have rolled them much more easily.

"Come on now!" He said after making sure that the cloth was nicely tied at the back of her head.

Holding her hand, he pulled her in some direction, not that she knew the direction they were walking to. Taking slow steps, they moved forward.

"Rudra, can we please walk a little faster? I don't think we are moving at all!" She complained loudly.

"Wha-is chivalry dead? No, right? Excuse me please but I'm trying to make it easier for you as you are the one whose eyes are shut!" He retorted immediately.

"And who is to be blamed for it?" She retorted back at him and he just shrugged.

"Shhh!" He shushed her again and she just shook her head.

They walked for five minutes before Rudra stopped her.

"What happened? Did we reach the moon yet?" She joked and he scowled.

"Shut up. Stairs." He said and held her other hand. Slowly, they started stepping down the stairs.

"I swear Rudra, if I fall and break anything, I'll-

"I'll never let you fall. Not again. Not ever." He said so clearly, so very sincerely. She felt goose bumps all over her body, was it because of the sudden cold air surrounding them or because of his words, she couldn't decide.

"Come on, we have almost reached!" He said, the excitement clearly in his voice.

"I hope it's worth the seven minutes I've used in walking blindly. And I hope it's quick because if I miss my flight, I'll-

"Shh!" He shushed her harshly again.

She chuckled and felt the stone stairs being replaced by the soft soil. It was a little chilly, it was the month of December after all, but she felt warmer than ever.

"Are you ready?" He asked suddenly, too close to her ear. She gulped.

"I don't know, am I?" She asked him.

Was he going to give her some goodbye gift?

Was he going to give her a farewell party?

Was he going to say his final goodbye to her?

Was he going to make sure she doesn't come back in his life after today?

She wasn't ready for that.

She sighed and shook her head, taking a deep breath. As the cool air reached her lungs, she felt more calm than relieved.

"Okay, this is it!" He said all but to himself, but the excitement couldn't be hidden from her sharp ears.

Tujhko... main rakh loon wahaan
Jahaan pe kahin
Hai mera yaqeen

As the cloth was slowly untied, she pasted a smile on her face. But as soon as it was removed, the smile vanished from her lips.

For, in front of her, was the most beautifully decorated garden she had ever seen in her entire life. A canopy of blood red roses made the sky above her, a carpet of peach pink roses sat beneath her. Small, starry lights surrounded them like diamonds and crystals, white curtains flowed in the breeze. The pool beside was covered with floating candles and blue flower petals swam slowly.

She gulped as tears filled her eyes.

"It's beautiful." She said, simply, as her heart broke into tiny pieces. The heaviness in her chest was growing by the minute and she gulped, the smile back on her face. "She will love it!"

"What?" He frowned.

He didn't understand, she looked quite surprised and happy just a minute ago. And suddenly, her face had lost its colour and her lips had that fake smile.

"Who? Who are you talking about?" He asked.

"Rudra!" She chuckled. "I'm talking about your fiancée, Bhavya! Did you forget her? You have done all this to surprise her right? I'm sure she's going to love it!"

"Oh. I haven't forgotten her. But, I haven't done all this for my fiancée. I've done all this for my wife!" He said, simply shrugging and she frowned a little bit.

Main jo... tera naa huaa
Kisi ka nahin...
Kisi ka nahin..

"What?" She whispered, not quite understanding him.

"I have done. All of this." He said, pointing at their surroundings. "For my wife." He said, pointing at her.

Le jaayein jaane kahaan
Hawayein, hawayein...
Le jaayein tujhe kahaan
Hawayein, hawayein...

"I don't think this is the time to joke around like this." She said a little seriously.

"Why do you think it's a joke?" He asked calmly.

"Because you are getting married the day after tomorrow!" She said, trying to control her temper. "No, in fact, you are getting married tomorrow!" She said and pointed at her watch. It was ten seconds to twelve am.

"How can I marry again? I'm already married. And my wife is standing in front of me, in all her gorgeous glory!" He said dreamily and stepped forward.

As soon as the watch struck twelve, his lips touched hers lightly. As warmth filled her, she shivered and couldn't move an inch, that's how shocked she was. The wind flowed smoothly around them, filling the air with the smell of the roses.

Begaani hai yeh baaghi
Hawayein, hawayein
Le jaaye mujhe kahan
Hawayein, hawayein

Le jaayein jaane kahaan, na mujhko khabar
Na tujhko pataa...

O...

"Happy One Year Anniversary, Mrs Soumya Rudra Singh Oberoi!" He grinned as she looked at him with widened eyes.

"Ru..Rudra?" She whispered.

"Yes, my love?" He said softly, removing a stray hair from her face.

"What..what is all..all this?" She whispered, not all liking this joke.

"What?" He asked, with a smile.

"I can't understand..you... I...we-

"Yes?" He said.

"I don't understand. All of this." She said, pointing at themselves.

"I know it's a little late. Sorry, I know it's late, very late. And I know I messed up big time last time. But I promise, I'll not mess this up again. Because-

"Because?" She gulped.

"Because I just can't afford to lose you again. You're too precious for my existence." He said and she sighed.

Banaati hai jo tu...
Woh yaadein jaane sang mere kab tak chale
Inhi mein to meri...
Subah bhi dhalein
Shamein dhalein
Mausam dhalein

"Rudra, why-

"Am I doing this?" He said and she nodded.
"It's my family problem. We brothers tend to waste a lot of time in realising our feelings. We are so thick; it's mostly others who help us in discovering our own heart. You remember how long Shivaay Bhaiyaa took to finally accept his feelings for Annika Bhabhi? And you know, actually you don't know because you weren't here but I'll tell you one day, how long O took to accept his love for Chulbul Bhabi!" He chuckled as she looked at him, still not convinced.

"Listen. I know this is out of the blue but so was my realisation." He said and smiled. "I was trying my wedding sherwani yesterday and I couldn't help but think, well, how much better my last wedding sherwani was and how good I looked in it. And then I thought, I wonder what colour Soumya will wear and I hope its pink, like the last time. And I hope we match!" He smiled softly. "And it struck me, so hard, so beautifully. There I was, trying my wedding sherwani and dreaming about another woman in a bridal dress as my bride rather than my fiancée. And realised, how excited I had felt before I had realised that Bhavya was going to be my bride and not you." He said, cupping her face. "And how much happier that thought had made me before I got struck by reality."

Khayalon ka shehar...
Tu jaane tere hone se hi aabaad hai
Hawayein haq mein...
Wohi hai aate jaate jo tera naam le

"But, Bhavya-

"Is a great girl. She's smart, intelligent, mature, beautiful but-

"But you love her."

"For a long time I really thought I did. She was all what I never was. But she's too mature for me, she doesn't understand me the way you do, she doesn't know me the way you do. And I don't understand and know her the way I do you."

"So, you want me because you know and understand me and vice versa? That doesn't make sense." she frowned.

"No. And yes. I don't want you because we know or understand each other better but because I know, you believe in me like no one else does. Because I know, you believe in me the way Annika Bhabhi does Shivaay Bhaiyaa and Chulbul Bhabhi does O. And because, because I'd rather fight with you my whole life than trying to solve my problems without you. All that aside, I want you because I'm madly in love with you." He shrugged as if it wasn't big of a deal.

"What?" She whispered.

"I am. Deeply and madly in love with you. Don't believe me?" He asked and she shook her head, tears in her eyes.

Deti hain jo sadayein
Hawayein, hawayein
Na jaane kya batayein
Hawayein, hawayein
Le jaaye tujhe kahaan
hawayein, hawayein
Le jaaye mujhe kahaan
Hawayein, hawayein

Le jaayein jaane kahaan, na mujhko khabar
Naa tujhko pataa...

O...

"I am sorry. But you don't love me, you just-

"It's ok. You don't believe me now but I'll make sure you do. We have seven lifetimes together after all." He said and dipped down to kiss her lovely lips again.

Chehra.. kyun milta tera
Yun khwabon se mere
Ye kya raaz hai?
Kal bhi.. meri na thi tu
Naa hogi tu Kal
Meri aaj hai ...

"Wohooo!" A few shouts emerged from behind a bush. She looked behind Rudra to find everyone jumping excitedly and hugging each other.

Shivaay gave Gauri a high five. Annika and Om danced weirdly. Dadi clapped as Jhanvi wiped her tears. Tej and Shakti laughed. Even Pinky couldn't hide her huge smile. Everyone was there, even Bhavya.

Bhavya's eyes met her and she could see the sadness in them. But when Bhavya smiled and winked at her as she gave her a thumbs up, she chuckled and nodded, mouthing a thank you.

"Where's my gift?" She asked, crossing her arms.

"What?" Rudra asked.

"My anniversary gift, dumbo!" She said and he smiled, his grin reaching his ears. Nodding, he walked behind her.

"Here it is. Hope you like it!" He said as he tied her mangalsutra around her neck.

Teri hai meri, saari wafayein wafayein
Maangi hai tere liye duaayein duaayein
Le jaaye tujhe kahaan.. hawayein, hawayein
Le jaaye mujhe kahaan.. hawayein, hawayein

"This..

"I found it in your purse. Needless to say, this gave me much more hope than anything else. I thought, if you still have this in your purse, maybe you still have me in your heart?" He asked, his voice hopeful.

Le jaaye jaane kahaan (hawayein hawayein)
Le jaaye tujhe kahaan (hawayein hawayein)

Le jaaye jaane kahaan (hawayein hawayein)
Le jaaye mujhe kahaan (Hawaayein hawayein)

O...

"I do." She smiled and turned back at him. Cupping his cheeks, she gave him a soft peck. "For eternity."

"I do too." He said and kissed his wife.
