Narra Tree
Haiku by Jayciel V. Banagan
Narra tree has,
Been brushed aside,
But Still manage,
To get up and stand,
And then rise above,
We, Filipino's.
From the author:
The poem serves as an ode to the Philippines, employing the Narra tree as a powerful symbol reflective of the Filipino spirit—resilient, strong, and enduring. Despite facing numerous crises, Filipinos persist, displaying unity and support for one another even in the smallest gestures. The Filipino character shines with warmth, embodying hospitality and respect through cultural expressions like "Po" and "Opo." Adversity is not a conclusion for Filipinos; even amidst storms, fire, or battling health issues like Covid, they rise above, sharing their beautiful smiles and instilling hope in their fellow countrymen.
