[ Co-Author: @butterfly123199 ]
Summary to all that happened so far: Trinity was hurt, Elie was at work, Jak and Daxter were off on a mission, and Torn was nowhere to be found. Only Elise remains and is taking care of him. From the Dark Warrior Projects, to tutu troubles, to bounty bags, and strange Oracle dreams Elise has had ever since; it's time to give our heroes a small errand and revive the story.
Dawn and Beth share Elise's minds, they can take over her body. Who knows, maybe they have their own? They are @butterfly123199 's OCs, her story is "Bliss" but is unpublished and under revision.
Elie is a KG member, but works for the UG undercover, OC belongs to Tamtamtam, their story is exclusively on fanfiction.net, "The Colour of Blood".
Dawn's = "Dialogue"
Beth's = "Dialogue"
Rest of Jak II characters so far will be explained at end for those who don't recall.
Now, onto story.
+ + +
After getting an earful from Torn and Tess, heck, even Elie, Trinity quickly agreed to rest to shut them up; it was a week ago. When they brought him back to the UG, he was asleep for a few days. It made everyone anxious what kinds of damages were done to him, so much so that Torn went to The Shadow personally for this. They feared that Trin would've never woke up.
Jak of course, remembered that his main reasons for joining the UG was to find answers, he needed to meet The Shadow. But ever since he met Elise and Trinity -- it didn't matter. He did want to use the opportunity to meet whoever that was, but the leader of the UG brushed him off. Elise, didn't forget about Dax either, sure, she was intending to keep both Trin and her plans to dress up Jak... But since so many unexpected things happened, they all needed a break. Especially when tensions of a war that's bound to happen is rising. Elise told Daxter everything, which left him horrified to see what state Trinity was in, after all, it seemed as if Trinity went through an apocalypse and survived by the skin of his teeth.
Unlike Jak, Daxter wasn't cautious about Elise. The little bunker incident with Elise sure gave the poor ottsel a scare, but still regarded her as a friend. It was funny how Dax was usually the comic relief of the group, but when things get really serious, he's one of the most loyal friends you could ever trust.
Torn told the news when he returned, and everyone was relieved. 'If only Trinity focused on the positive things more...' Tess deeply thought. 'Trinity, not everyone had to face the fate like Moria did. And hopefully never. We're all still here. You have the entirety of the Underground concerned for you. You, Jak, Elise, Elie...Erin and Krystal... All of us here... We're seen as their beacons of hope. We have to make it through this war and see it to the end, Trin.'
Tess was usually the one to tend to Trin, since he's always the "trouble magnet idiot", even before Jak's arrival. Elise volunteered to take care of Trinity, which was understandable when Elie reported what happened. Tess smiled and allowed her to take over.
Elise knocked on the bunker frame, carrying a small tray of food, she silently stepped up to Trinity's bed. She gave him a warm, yet tired smile. She was still very much beating herself up for the way he is, and she knows just taking care of him won't fix it, but it's worth a shot.
"Hey..." She greeted calmly, stepping up to the side of his bed and setting the tray next to him. "I brought you something to eat..." He could sense a bit of remorse in her tone. Anyone could, at the current time.
"Hey Elise..." Trinity was just as tired as Elise was, perhaps even more so. His shoulder was exposed when they took off his brown, thick coat to see his wound.
His shoulder was disgusting, it even made Elise disturbed. She could barely look at it, since she felt that it was solely her fault, a mere glance at his burned, exposed flesh and there were deep marks that were possibly so far down in that it was enough to reach and damage his bones. There were patterns that resemble veins and it ran across his shoulder and down to where his elbow was, she knew it was her dark powers that must've electrocuted him. Elise knew in the back of her mind that she wanted to ask Trin, asked how much it had hurt.
'Would he be able to even use that arm again?...' She dreadfully questioned herself.
Beth: Oh my...
Dawn: That's gotta hurt. Poor guy...
Beth: -_-
Dawn: Hey! Don't blame me! She had too much Dark Eco. There was nothing I could do!
Beth: Fine fine. Whatever you say...
Elise stood silent, gazing at him with her usual tired look. She leaned over and pressed a heartwarming kiss to the large male's temple before lightly patting his other arm as a comforting sign. "Eat and get some rest, call me if you need anything." Her words came out in a soft, comforting and soothing, pleasing to anyone's ears, which was very uncommon for her. She slowly stood up to her feet, stepping towards the door before coming to a halt.
Trinity hesitated, but eventually spoke. His voice croaky and weak, which he tried to clear his throat because of it. "Wait, Elise. Eherm... " He tried clearing it again, but it was no use. He sighed. "I know you're blaming yourself..." Which was true, she knows it was as noticeable as the sun beaming high in the sky.
Dawn: I thought he was upset with us?
"I thought you were upset with us-... me?" Elise slowly turned around, not wanting to make direct eye contact with the masked male, but doing so nonetheless.
Trin gently shook his head. "I'd never be upset towards a friend like you." He even tried coughing a little in hopes of making his voice less frail and weak-sounding. But he sighed again, mumbling in defeat about it. Despite the pain, he knew more than enough to not blame her, after all, he was in charge of looking after the victims of the Dark Warrior Project undercover.
His words caused Elise to let out a soft chuckle and brushed her fingers through her thin, black hair before looking down at the ground. "You know, you never seem to fail in amazing me, Trinity."
Dawn: That's my Trinny ;)
Beth: Hush, Dawn. This is no time to be joking. Do you know how bad Elise feels right now?
Dawn: Hey, we feel the exact same way.
Beth: WE'RE APART OF HER!!!
Dawn: No need to shout </3
Elise wrinkled her nose, her ears twitching at the sound of her two 'inner voices' debating with each other. She decided not to get into their argument and try to enjoy her time with Trinity. She walked back over to him and leaned on the bed frame before using it to sit down. No words said, just utter silence between the two of them. This time, for the first time in her life, Elise enjoyed the silence. It spoke for her. It sent her sincere apologies and remorseful feelings out into the open, all within a few moments.
Nothing could possibly change her mood. Not until Trinity was okay. Not until he was completely healed and ready to go. Unknowingly, she began to whisper a soft melody. Her voice was shaky, taking the form of a whisper.
"Oh, Miss Believer, my pretty sleeper your twisted mind, is like snow on the road." The petite girl's shoulders began to shake, a lump forming in her throat as her mind set her back to her 'dream.' "Your shaking shoulders prove that it's colder inside your head, than the winter of dead..."
She reached up and felt her cheek. It was now being stained with crystal clear tear drops. She felt like she had cried so much already, her tears could fill an empty backyard pool. Although her tone was now gentle and hardly a broken whisper, she continued her melody.
"I will tell you I love you, but the muffs on your ears, will cater your fears. My nose and feet are running as we start to travel through snow, together we go..." She trailed off, wiping her eyes before she sang her last verse. "We get colder as we grow older... We will walk so much slower..." She suddenly stopped, thinking through the lines she had just sung. She had almost forgotten Trinity was in the room with her, even though her shaking hand was resting on his leg.
Trin rested his hand on hers., it was warm and reassuring. "Heh... It's no wonder they call you Queen." He sounded tired, most likely sleepy.
She jumped slightly, her pale cheeks dusting a rose shade of pink at his words. "Thanks..." She muttered softly. She flipped her hand over to lay it flat under his before she intertwined their fingers together in a comforting way.
Dawn: He has soft hands ;)
Beth: That's creepy, but okay!
Dawn: Shut up >:C
Elise let out a halfhearted chuckle as she listened to her two voices. It was better than sleeping anymore. Although she was very tired, she refused to sleep at all. The dream about the oracle kept replaying each time she'd close her eyes. The desperation in her mind to tell someone was greater than the tired urges. Everyone but them are busy or nowhere to be seen.
Dawn: Trinny it is then! ;D
Beth: Stop calling him that, you're making Elise uncomfortable.
Dawn: She doesn't mind it, do you Elise?
She shook her head towards Dawn, although in reality it looked like she was overthinking something.
Much to her dismay, Trinity had suggested having to give Elise some pointers and have her drive him. The argument was a test of stubbornness, until she finally gave up. "Fine, fine! You're sticking with me, no shooting, no killing, not even a little funny business. If Torn finds out about this, I'm so dead."
"So am I, *cough* so am I, Elise..." He halfheartedly laughed.
[ Eventually recovering and learning how to drive more calmly... ]
"Elise, it almost slipped my mind." Trinity cleared his throat.
Elise asked, while griping the steering wheel, tempted to drive off in high speeds already. "What is it?"
"Don't you think someone's worried about you?"
Elise raised an eyebrow in wonder. "Someone? Worrying about me? Sounds like you've got the wrong Elise."
"Oh? I think there's one Elise which he called...'Princess'?"
Elise thought for a while, pausing and losing a bit of color in her face. "Holy fuck knuckles - I forgot about Brutter."
Trinny laughed, "Why not drive us to the Bazaar? Just, uh, don't explode us before we even get to Brutter..."
Elise glanced over at Trinity. "You should have a bit more faith in me, Trinny." It was obvious her Dawn side was kicking in.
Trinity scratched his head at the mention of his nickname and was ticking with his one finger on the dash of the Zoomer, Elise noticed he seemed slightly troubled about something.
Elise glanced at him a few times before huffing softly through her nose. She turned off the zoomed and crossed her arms."Alright, What's up? Every time Dawn and I call you Trinny, you become a bit... Off. Are you okay?"
He sighed, "It's, well, hard to even start a sentence. I'm never comfortable lying, so I'm going to be honest. It's a heavy topic." Rested his head on his palm, so it was being supported by his left arm. "It's...gotta do with my past. A dear friend I once had."
Elise frowned slightly and fully turned to face him. "You... Don't have to tell me if you're uncomfortable." She said, her tone much sweeter, it almost made Dawn interrupt her.
Trinny chuckled softly, it was almost bitter. Yet it was mixed with another hidden emotion. "It's fine. I've already told the others before we met... It... It feels nice. To have people genuinely listen to one's story." Then he shook his head and laughed, "Damn, I feel like an old man telling stories." Trinny said, amused.
Elise snickered slightly. "Probably because you are an old man," She teased, leaning back into her seat slightly. "Reminds me of when I used to listen to Okasan's stories." She smiled and waited for Trinity to tell his story.
Then Trinny coughed to the side, a smirk under his mask formed. "Ow, I ain't that old." He relaxed onto the seat. "Well, whatever you're going to hear now, it's all true..." He said solemnly, the mood of the atmosphere becoming heavier. "It was all those years ago. Back when I had recently betrayed the KG and they had discovered that I was with the UG. Torn and I weren't trustworthy with each other. And back then, I had a partner..."
Elise paused and furrowed her eyebrows together. She was hesitant and didn't want to interrupt him, but spoke anyway. "Was it that woman you mentioned before..? Moria?"
Trinny's breath stopped short for a split second. "Y- Yeah... Moria..." He shifted uncomfortably in the seat. "She was the one I mentioned back when I cleaned your wounds and we rescued you. She is, well, was my partner." He continued again. "It was years ago, we had a rat among the UG...Trinny, was my nickname which Moria gave to me." He laughed, but it was a painful one. "The Stradivarius, was originally her weapon."
Elise kept her gaze down, and nodded slightly. "I'm sorry..." She glanced up at him. "I'll- I'll Stop calling you Trinny, as will Dawn if it makes you feel comfortable."
Trinny placed a hand on her shoulder, "No, it's fine. It's not your fault." He sighed. "It's mine..."
Elise softly put her hand on top of his, squeezing it lightly. "It's not your fault, but Trinity. You need to let the past go." She turned to look at him. "I know, I'm in no position to say that but you have to understand all of that is over with. You need to look to now - think about all the good things happening."
She gave him a weak smile, "You're one of the greatest people I've ever met... If only you could see what I see, you'd understand why I adore you so much."
Dawn: I'm holding back from saying Trinny-
Beth: Don't do it-
Dawn: I'M HOLDING IT IN AND IT H U R T S.
His head was slightly lowered, but after hearing what Elise had said, he looked up. Both of their eyes locking, and she could see his blue eyes. "..." He was speechless, not being used to someone who tells him with wisdom. Since he usually was the one who says things like this. His eyes shifted a bit to the side and chuckled
"Thanks... It seems like the roles had switched." He said amusingly, reminiscent of the time when he told her something worth remembering about, back when he left after cleaning her injuries. Even back when they had discussed Erol. "You can always call me Trinny." He smiled, even though they couldn't see it. But he was sure that they could tell.
Elise smiled and chuckled softly before she nodded. "And you know, You don't have to call me 'Queen' or Elise." She hummed softly. "You can call me El."
Dawn: T R I N N Y
Beth: Ugh. Dawn, really?
Dawn: I couldn't hold it anymore ;(
"Heheh, let's not keep Brutter waiting. Lurkers care very deeply for anyone who they consider them to be part of their family and kind." Trinity yawned.
Elise nodded with a small smile, turning the zoomer back on before sitting straight. She shivered and shook her head slightly. "Dawn's going nuts." She chuckled breathlessly.
He snickered. "Curious, but maybe I shouldn't ask."
Then, his ear twitched and he looked around, scanning his surroundings. He glanced at her, who was tense because of his sudden actions. "Stay low. You can drive, just do it like everyone else here, slow and inconspicuous."
She noticed his tone and nodded, beginning to follow his demands. "Something wrong?" She asked lowly, looking around slightly, trying to see what his worry was about.
"Either bounty hunters, or KG. Stick by the large 4-seated Zoomer, yeah, right there, and lie low." He moved his tied hair and pulled up a black hood, his hair tucked in. "Don't make any eye contact, don't face them and you'll be fine." He leaned slightly lower on the seat, keeping his head low. "If worse comes to worse..." He detached a spherical object from his belt. "We hightail outta here to the Bazaar. Don't worry, the Bazaar is very crowded. We can go on foot."
Elise gave a stern nod and shifted so her hair covered most of her face, her hands shaking slightly as she drove. "Shit must be hitting the fan if you put your hair up." She joked in a low tone.
Beth: Really?
Dawn: I'm just trying to lighten the mood. ;(
Trinny carefully watched like a wary prey. "Hmm..." He hummed and crossed his arms, the ball still in his hand.
They both slowly drove to the Bazaar while lying low, Trin didn't stare at the KG cruisers flying around them, so they weren't the main threat. It was someone else...
But nevertheless, they made it safely. They hopped off, touching the sandy ground, various smells of food hung in the air. People here weren't as depressed as the people in the Slums. Then again, the Slums were the lowest and grayest part of Haven. "We're safe, so don't worry." He put it back while they were driving on.
Elise nodded, letting out a breath she unknowingly held in as she stretched her arms. "You had me worried there." She chuckled shakily. She glanced around before tensing up at the sound of her 'father's' voice.
(Brutter, the friendly Lurker! Lovely official character.)
Brutter came charging out of his shop, an excited yet relieved expression on his face as he ran his way over to Elise and Trinity. Without a word being said, he quickly swung Elise into a bone crushing hug, causing her to groan out in slight pain.
"Brutter little princess okay! Brutter little princess is okay!!" He cheered, squeezing the petite girl a bit tighter. Elise flinched when she heard her back crack slightly. "Ow-" She wheezed.
Trinity chuckled. He glanced around, "We should take this inside, although this place is peaceful, we still got bounties on our heads."
Brutter noticed the state he was in.
Brutter noticed the tension within Trinity and nodded, letting Elise go. "Masky right! Come! Come inside, Brutter make you lunch!" The joyful Lurker ushered the two inside, Elise grunting in pain at the feeling of her squished muscles.
Dawn: Her bones are like a deflated balloon haha!
Beth: That isn't funny, this really hurts-
Dawn: I laugh to escape the pain hehe
After closing the door, everyone settled down, Trinny sat with a sigh. "It's nice to finally rest for a bit and have a conversation, it's been a while since we've had these haven't we Brutter?" He stretched, slightly hissing when he forgot about his arm.
Brutter was in the bar section of his shop, a bright smile on his face. "Yes, Masky! You right! Are you hungry? Thirsty? Brutter make you drinks and food!" He said, cheer laced within his tone before he ran off.
Elise glanced over at Trinity with a worried gaze. "Are you okay?" She asked softly, motioning to his arm.
Trinity chuckled, "I'm fine, Green Eco on a Dark Eco wound felt nasty, but really, the pain died down long ago. Well...unless I stretch it too much haha." Then he turned his attention back to Brutter, "Oh, wait! Brutter! There's no need for food and drinks, I'm okay, thank you. I just reminded Elise since I know how much you care about close friends. If you both need some things to speak to each other about, I can stand guard outside if you like. If not, I just need to let you know about something, nothing big."
Brutter paused in his heavy tracks and turned to glance at Trinity. He calmed himself down to a walk before standing in front of him. "Tell Brutter what needed!" He smiled happily.
Elise smiled at she glanced at Brutter, always loving his cheery and upbeat attitude. It was her favorite thing about him.
"I'm going to teach Elise how to drive.... fast." He slightly shifted his head to Elise. "And don't worry, I'll make sure no one gets harmed, like always." He gave a thumbs up, being around Brutter always lightens up the mood. 'I wonder why some people have a hate for Lurkers.'
Brutter nodded happily. "Brutter trust you, Masky! Just teach princess well!" He glanced at Elise then back to Trinity. "She bad driver overall..."
Elise gasped. "Hey! I am not!"
Brutter hummed. "Princess very bad driver."
Trinity hummed, "Well, even though you stayed low and careful when driving here...You should see the deep scratches." He snickered.
Elise puffed out her cheeks slightly and squinted at Trinity. "Etch..." She turned her head away slightly.
Brutter hummed softly with a loving smile. "That okay! You train princess, yes? Brutter can not wait to see princess drive!"
Dawn: You know, technically she doesn't have a license.
Beth: Keep that to yourself, Dawn.
"Yeah, she's gonna have to. Do you need anything before we go Elise?"
Elise glanced at Trinity and shook her head as she stood up from her seat. She smiled and hugged Brutter tightly, him hugging her less tighter than he did last time.
Brutter took a quick glance at Trinity, with a seemingly stern expression. "Princess, Brutter need to talk to masky friend for moment." The raven haired girl raised an eyebrow, but nodded nonetheless. "Sure." She glanced at Trinity. "I'll meet you outside, Trin." She smiled and trotted her way out of the shop.
It was silent for a few seconds before Brutter had turned to Trinity. He was seemingly in a serious and aggressive state, which he had never been towards anyone. "Masky, Brutter only telling once! You better protect Brutter princess or you have something coming!" He warned.
Trinny, being unfazed by the sudden shift of Brutter's mood, nodded and placed a firm fisted hand over his heart. "You have my word. I will always protect. Both Lurkers and friends." He stated in a confident, honest voice, knowing how it feels to be protective.
The lurker gave him a gentle smile and a small nod. "Brutter trusts you, Masky. Brutter thanks you."
Before heading out to meet El, Trin gave a two-fingered salute sort of wave. "Likewise, Brutter."
"Oh," Brutter kept his gaze on the masked man, even though he was walking out. "Lurker family thanks you for all your help... and Brutter means ALL of it. Lurker brothers and sisters now safe thanks to you."
"And we thank you also, as behalf of the UG. We need all the help we can get."
With that, they bid each other a wholesome farewell.
+ + +
It has returned, Haven's Heroes, back for more action! Although my schedule hasn't improved now that commissions and senior year, I'm not going to let it die.
Now, onward, to the character refresher for anyone:
Jak
The main protagonist of the game and has dark powers from Dark Warrior Project from the very start of the story, also came from a distant land...
Dax
An ottsel, orange creature and best bud who is always by Jak's side, usually comical, once a bug exterminator from the Daxter game and during Jak's imprisonment. I think he's still in a tutu and is...in a box. He has his own Communicator (phone-like device), he got transported to Haven along with Jak from a strange land...
Torn
Ex-KG or Krimzon Guard Captain, leader of rebel group UG or The Underground. Hides out mainly in Slums, lowest and oppressed part of Haven City. He once thought Trin or Moria were traitors when a mission went haywire...
The Shadow
No one knows who this is. But everything the characters know for the most part is that he's the leader of The Underground, which Jak needed to speak to.
Tess
She was always with The Underground, sent from Torn to keep an eye on Krew. She's a blonde haired woman who was introduced in very beginning along with Torn. Her roles may be small for now, but she still has a special role...
Jinx
The special demolitionist of The Underground, his partners are Mog and Grim and work with Krew. Not much else to know about him.
Trinity (OC)
My character, the main star of my book. The first ever male OC also, his damaged mask and scars tell stories like no other. An ex-KG, the "Masked Devil", a skilled sniper, and a poet; had a job of rescuing those in DWP (Dark Warrior Project). His boundless wisdom came at a heavy price, who is he? What does he really look like? We shall see, as the story progresses...
Moria (OC)
Trinity's best friend, Trin was her Ice and she was his Fire. Literally partners in crime, she uses the Stradivarius, blue eco rifle that is speed and elegance in one. Trinny was the nickname she gave her partner, she was in the Dark Warrior Project. Her dark self eventually went out of control and she was no longer...
Krew
The mob boss of Haven City who gathers information and maintains an illegal import-export of guns, parts, and even eco packages. He's valuable for weapon supplies for our heroes, but his recent actions (not proven, but seems too obvious) of placing a bounty on their heads and wanting to rid of Elise made his connection with UG rather shaky...
Sig
Krew's body guard who is heavily adorned in Metalhead armor parts and uses a special charging weapon called The Peacemaker, he has a cool attitude and is a fun hunting buddy. His equipment seems to be from Krew.
Vin
The wimpy, techy character who almost shot Jak, Dax, and even Trin; he's UG's most useful informant and runs the important parts of the city. He looks over the eco grids in the super computer system somewhere far away (to get there, one needs a Precursor Ring to teleport by jumping through it).
Erol
A Commander of the KG and once partnered with Trinity, a formidable foe who's just as skilled as Trinity or Jak with guns and vehicles. Ruining many lives of our different characters and even OCs, his mind has been leaning towards insanity due to being exposed to the Dark Eco from the DWP too often (Trinity stated it). He's ultimately one of the main antagonists...
Baron Praxis
A tyrannical ruler, deals eco to the Metalheads under shady business (during Ammo Dump mission, Jak discovered this). He has a sword and has incredible power, overthrowing the previous ruler of Haven some time before the book. He was directly responsible for the DWP...
