[24] (Part 2)- Torn and Trin

*Underline = Trin & Elise*

"It was 8 years ago. . ."

Krimzon Guards lurked in every single corner of the place, one of them who stood out from the group were two people who weren't exactly wearing their KG uniforms that they were supposed to wear. Neither of them never preferred nor liked wearing those bulky paraphernalia anyways.

"Soldiers always complain about...."

"How uncomfortable their crotch is?"

"Yeah..."

"Trinity, we need to meet with the Baron for our missions, sadly, we have separate tasks so we can't see who's better on whatever challenge we can think of." Erol frowned.

Trin sighed, "That just makes everything even more boring around here, whaddya say Erol?" He nudged his arm, "that doesn't mean we can't see who can finish their objectives first y'know." Trinity offered up a challenge, it was the majority of their talk.

Every guard didn't care what they were saying, but every time they would pass by, they would salute in respect; showing how much of high authority they are. "How about we see who can collect the most Metal Head gems?" Erol snickered, certain that he would beat him this time.

Trin smirked under his mask, "I can one up you, Precursor Orbs." He dared, "Simply collect the most, wins."

They both strolled over to where the Baron was at, through these extended halls of metallic walls and passing through boring corridors, "let's set this at a time limit to make it more exciting."

Trinity laughed, "Or, so we can finish this crap up, to spare some time for a race."

Erol turned even more cockier, "Place a few cash on that bet, and, if you lose - I'll take that sweet toy of yours."

He scoffed. "Like you have a chance... I know you would try to impress her with some kind of trick on this - you'll fall off on the first try."

"I have never met a man who was cockier than the Baron himself..."

"And how much is the Baron...?"

"Pretty damn cocky, maybe as much as Mars." Elise looked at him. "Hey, Mars just has to be, right? Anyway..."

As soon as they entered the spacious room, they shut themselves up, the Baron was never pleased with their conversations. Though, he did like how they would actually be into their task compared to others; others who are lazy, whiny soldiers that he wishes to get send them to the Metal Heads...

Which he does, they're just disguised as missions.

They approached him, the fearsome leader of Haven City; Baron Praxis.
The Baron wields a heavy, sharp sword that hung on his belt, gleaming with some type of pride. It almost seems like it was proudly showing off its steel, Trinity knows well that; at least; every blade was stained with blood. The Baron's had plentiful of it.

"Even among his own men, he's still a heartless, old bastard." Trinity found himself clasping his hand into a fist full of anger and loathe.

Baron Praxis' beard has few strips of grey, showing his age. The whole half of his head was replaced with metal...

"What happened to that jerk's face anyways?" Elise asked.

Trinity gave it a thought for a moment, "It's a story for another time... I wasn't really there, but the condition of the place says it all." That only left her even more curious, but before she could pry him; Trinity resumed his story.

"We're ready to take your missions, sir." They both said nonchalantly.

The Baron was somewhat much more furious than usual, his wrinkles that covered his face said it all. "Those annoying, worthless scums are starting a riot down at the West Bazaar and in the Industrial Zone." He growled, annoyance was present under every syllable that he spat out of his mouth.

A large holographic map was displayed in the middle of the room, everyone's faces were painted blue by its emitted, bright light. Even the whole walls of the room that bordered this place was coated with its illumination.

The Baron informed, "lately, it's been growing steadily - into a point where it cannot be ignored." His eye, full of hate and venom, turned to Trinity, then Erol. "I want you both to eliminate those who are a threat to this city!"

"It annoys me how much the Baron uses these words 'threat' and 'eliminate', treating us all like some kind of... mere bugs." Trinity gritted his teeth.

"Life is full of unfair crap..."

"If only he doesn't see us as if we were all indifferent to his eye."

"Yes, sir." Erol replied in a serious demeanor, he bended over and bowed in respect; Trinity didn't want to respond or accept it.

He nudged him, giving Trin a warning look.

Trinity grumbled quietly in extreme dismay, shifting a bit. "Yes, sir." He only bowed his head slightly, his voice was emotionless; you could almost sense a hostile tone in it.

"Assemble your squad, one Captain will be joining alongside you." The Baron explained, "to make certain you don't disobey orders - if you do, they'll report to me and you'll suffer heavy consequences, do I make myself clear?" His voice boomed.

"Wait, why would he need you two under supervision by Captains? Shouldn't he trust Erol, of all people? I don't know 'bout you though."

"It's true, however, this is the time where units in the KG became suspicious about a possible betrayal. Like Torn and someone else... You'll meet her later..."

"Yes, sir." Trinity almost hesitated as he took an uneasy glance at the holographic map shown at the middle of the room.

"Hesitation is dangerous upon the KG, there was certain things that the guards follow very carefully on..."

Trinity had to be entirely cautious, he kept those rules in his mind, still unforgettable and fresh in his head.

If you show any signs of hesitation, you will be killed by someone who is one rank lower than you; they will be the one who replaces you.

If you disobey orders, your place will be the Prison, where you rightfully belong. A Solitary Confinement.

Cowardice is not accepted in the KG, those who are cowards, are those who are nothing more than a bug.

Sparing is unacceptable.
Mercy is your weakness.
Emotions are distractions.
And there are no second chances.

They both took their leave, not wanting to waste another second; especially around the Baron who looks like he was ready to shoot or slice someone's head off.

"I'll take the West Bazaar." Trinity said.

"Industrial Section then." He responded.

They both separated, Erol headed to the Fortress, Trinity was leaving for the Vehicle Station; until he was greeted by a Captain.

"You're going to be my Captain, I presume?" Trinity asked.

"Captain Torn."

Trin saluted, "Commander Trinity."

Torn had a look of disgust at him, "Trinity..."

As Trin pulled out his Communicator.

He queued in.

Trinity (Communicator):
<<We got a mission.>>

? ? ? (Communicator):
<<Ugh, can I have a day off after this?>>

Trinity (Communicator):
<<Yes, now get ready, we'll be at the Vehicle Station. Another riot again.>>

? ? ? (Communicator):
<<Yeah, yeah...>>

The communication broke, and he put his device away. Torn looks like he was trying to ask him something, "Question?" Trin turned.

"Now's not the place." Trinity raised his brow.

They both waited in silence.

"How long does this soldier of yours take?" Torn was definitely an impatient type from what Trin had assumed.

"Hangover probably." Trinity said.

Torn mumbled. "He's a drinker... A drunk is coming alongside with us, great."

"She." Trin retorted.

"A female drunk then." He grumbled.

Suddenly, the soldier was in a hurry, it was certainly a she. Her armor wasn't really much, she wore minimal parts. It's for agility. She was tan as for her skin tone; her face was dotted with slightly noticeable freckles, her hair was dark ash blonde, was somewhere around 5 feet tall, and her hair...was a mess right now, it was tied into a sloppy, half ponytail.

(Elie, from Fanfiction.net: "The Colour of Blood" By - 'Tammatamtam'!!)
This also the cover of her book, be sure to check it out!!! WORTH IT!!

She huffed, "this Palace is too big for my liking..." She stopped once as she noticed something, her ponderous sniper rifle stopped clattering behind her back since she always lugged it around. "Hey, where did Erol go?"

"Industrial Zone." He sighed, "Elie, your hangover is gonna kill you one of these days..."

She also saw Torn, "hey, you didn't mention about Captain Ass here."

"Wow, in front of a Captain?! I already like this 'Elie'!"

"If you were in a massive hangover, I bet you wouldn't give a crap about anything. And I gotta hand it to her, she got guts. Especially for someone who is too kind to be in the KG..."

'Too kind... What about you?..' She thought.

Torn had a tick mark, "if I did, you would've never came. I'll be driving." Trin stated blandly.

"She was actually the first to ever crash a KG Hellcat, even I had no clue to this day how that exactly happened..." Elise snickered, even with how incredulous and ridiculous as it sounds; it seems like an entirely true story.

"I'll be fine, can I please???" Elie looked.

"Let's go." Trinity didn't answer her question.

They rode and were finally out of the Palace. "Are you the one who was the new KG that killed a 100 men?"

"What?... Is that true?..."

"I've told you... I've killed many...Just like Elie, but even I don't count the number of kills - innocent or not, like her."

'I wonder if she's Trin's best friend...'

Trinity didn't say anything, "yeah, that story is getting famous these days. He was also the one that jumped into the ranks of Commander as soon as he joined."

"Torn," Trin responded. "Are you doubting the KG and Baron Praxis?" His voice was low.

The Captain was caught off guard, "no." He hastily answered.

He huffed, "Hmph." They reached to the West Bazaar, "No Hellcat, no friendly fire."

Some of the Krimzon Guards were already making a line, the angry people were pushing against them; only to get knocked back.

They arrived at the scene, "we are here under the orders of the Baron! End this right now, or there will be consequences!" Elie warned gravely as Torn and her stepped out of the vehicle.

The nervous and angry murmurs swam through the crowd. "There's only 2 of those high-ranking Krimzon animals..."

"We should kill those monsters... There's no way they'll spare us!" One of them muttered.

The murmurs soon rose into shouts of irritation. "You treat all of us like dirt! The Baron is turning people into beasts by putting Dark Eco in them!"

Another one bellowed, equally as angry. "What kind of ruler turns people into abominations?!" The people started to become much more hostile.

The captain and Trin's friend was shocked. "Is that true?..." Trinity didn't say anything, he just simply crossed his arms in quietness.

"It...it isn't a rumor.." Elie muttered, Torn glanced at her in pure disbelief. "All those prisoners..." Eyebrows lowered, teeth clenched, and her fist was grasped so tightly; that her own nails were starting to leave imprints on her palms and her knuckles turned white.

Behind the two, Trin was sitting in the Hellcat, eyes closed; staring at the gauges of the cockpit in silence. Until the silence broke when his Communicator activated, he didn't even take notice of it; that's what they thought; but he was listening in.

The demanding voice screamed loudly.

The Baron (Communicator):
<<They have too much information... Never mind that. In the orders by the Baron himself...>>

As the people are starting to act up again, Praxis has sounded the last parts with a sinister voice, he should have been losing his temper, but this time...

The Baron (Communicator):
<<I order you to kill them.>>

Torn's eyes widened, usually, they deal with murders or any other person that has a valid enough reason to kill them. This, was different, and Elie knew that Torn is about to realize...

Then, when a bang rang through the air, the dwindling KG were getting trampled on and shot at. There was only a few that patrolled this place, because usually it didn't cause any problems for Baron Praxis around this particular area.

The one who was leading the riot was a man, he stood the tallest out from the group, as if he was the Baron's palace sticking out like a sore thumb compared to the little cities below.

Torn shot into the air and Elie followed, wanting to prevent any bloodshed that was about to happen. They're desperately trying to come up with alternatives to help die down the riot into nothing.

They all stopped, and looked at the 2 Krimzon Guards. Nervousness and fear were present in their eyes, but still eager to start rebelling again.

"We're warning you!" Elie continued.

Trinity finally exited the hovercraft, when he pulled out his rifle and aimed; the red dot was on the man who was their leader. Everyone looked as Torn and Elie moved... within milliseconds, he already has his gun drawn out in incredible haste; it was definitely as if his movements was invisible to the naked eye...

"Oh no... I- it's.... The stories are true..." One of them whispered in pure horror.

They all were completely frozen in fear, Elie shifted uncomfortably... Torn had an unsettled feeling in the core of himself, the whole air suddenly felt tense and unbearable; Trinity didn't say a single word.

The man stuttered. "P- please... W- we just wanted to p- protect ourselves..."

*Click*

His weapon made a sound as he flicked a switch on his gun. . .

Everyone stiffened even more, the red laser dot was trained directly onto the center of the poor man's visage. He was ominously silent as a ghost, his posture were as still as the air around them while his fingers grazed over the trigger, and the only thing that was on his sights; was the leader of the riot.

He panicked, "G- GET AWAY FROM ME!!" He ran in the opposite direction for his life. "GET THAT RED DEVIL AWAY FROM..."

*BANG!*

"ARAGH!!!"

The victim fell on his knees, every rebel scattered and flinched from the longing gunshot that reverberated through the area. To Torn, that lasting gunfire echoed what seemed to be an utter eternity; what's worse, was the man's yell that stretched into a never-ending ring.

"HEEELP!!! HELP ME! PLEASE! I BEG OF YOU! HEEELP!" The injured rebel finally fell on the sandy ground, it felt like sandpaper applied with salt being rubbed against his opened wounds. He crawled, imploring and praying to the Precursors that only could witness this horrifying scene. "HELP MEEEE!" He bellowed with great grief. "HELP ME, ANYONE! PLEASE!!!" The man's eyes darted from person to person, none of them had the backbone to do anything.

The Baron (Communicator):
<<Make him suffer, and I shall offer you an extra reward.>>

They scurried with fear in their hearts, the cowardly rebels were like scattered ants. They're strong together, but without a leader to hold them into one, they're all the same. Weak, pathetic little vermins; skedaddling around, searching for something that isn't even worth it.

*BANG!*

Another shot.
Then another scream.

Elie couldn't take it, and even she had to look away from the scene. Then, she turned to Trinity, with anger. "Stop it Trinity!" She realized what she just said, "Just put him out of his misery already!" Elie quickly added...

Everyone's words fell on deaf ears, Trinity aimed at the man on the floor, he was bleeding out and screaming in pain; his voice was now hoarse as he coughed up blood onto the sand.

"P.. please..." The man choked out.

". . ." Trinity was menacingly silent.

"I- I... I'll give you..." He wheezed, more of the scarlet ribbons trickled out of his mouth and nose. "Everything... J- just don't... take my wife and children away from me... "

Trinity shifted. He didn't say anything at the moment as he stared at the dying man in front of his very own eyes, he put his rifle down, but pulled out a handgun.

Tears spilled at the corners of the poor man's eyes, his mouth shuddered. His throat became dry, so all he could do was mouth a few words. 'Please...' He kept repeating it.

*BANG!*

Everyone that were part of the riot were extremely paralyzed with fear, most of them looked away upon seeing Trin pull the trigger; the others, just simply gazed and cried in pure silence.

Elie saw it and was shocked.

Trinity didn't pull the trigger.

He wasn't the one that shot him.

"Heartless wretch." He dropped the pistol, "can't even give a man a quick death."

"Trinity... Y-you..."

"I... I was going to tell him that he won't need to see his family at the other side..."

"W-why?... Why did you do that?"

"It's true. I've killed many like this in cold-blood... But..."

"But what? What kind of reason would make you do that?! Trinity, I may not have known much about you and we only met not too long ago, but... You? You did all of this...you did THAT?!"

"Let me explain..."

"Explain what, huh? It better be a good reason. You, out of all the people, wouldn't do that..." Elise paused, "You told me that revenge is wrong and showed lots of compassion..."

"I- I wanted to gain the Baron's trust..." Trinity had his fists clenched.

"His... trust?..."

"So I can confront him myself... and kill him with my own bare hands. Back then, my old self thought that if you would kill a 100 people... just to get to the Baron..." He exhaled deeply. "Then you can stop him from killing a 1000 people. More than that. And, stop this whole feud or war..."

"I- I..."

"When time flew..." Trinity looked to someplace else, up to the sky. "I started to change into the person you know now. I realized that...it was all wrong. And I began to regret it all. I wasn't completely different from my old self though... I wanted to just...stop."

"Trinity..."

"Whenever that man pleaded, my heart panged. Whenever he stared at me with those eyes, my own eyes stung. And whenever I hear the gunshot and his scream, my legs would just feel so weak; they'd be at the verge to just - not work anymore. My stomach would flip, my hands would shake, and my throat would become too arid and ached. So much that, I could barely swallow..."

Elise felt her hands fidget slightly.

"What? I don't thi-....."Elise went limp for a moment, her head falling onto Trinity's shoulder as if she had been a rag-doll. After a few seconds she sprung to life, a wide smile on her face and she stared at her hands like she never knew she had them.

Now Trin was quite worried...

"AWESOME!! WHY COULDN'T I DO THIS BEFORE?!" She cackled.

"U-uh..." Now Trinity was extremely confused.

"Hell no!" She giggled.

'She just dropped dead, and her personality is now flirtatious...' His brain clicked and a light bulb went off at the top of his head as realization dawned on him. 'Oh...'

"So... Trinity... my, my... You look different, speaking of which... I wonder what you look like under that mask?" Elise's voice was even more unusual.

Trin took a step back out of reflex as she attempted to take off his mask. "You shouldn't do that... Dawn."

Dawn/Elise pouted and quickly stood up, crossing her arms sassily. "But Trinityyy! I bet you look cute!" She grinned... Dawn ignored Elise and Beth, giggling mischievously. She took a step closer to Trinity, a sly grin on her lips.

Trinity stood from his place, "I'm warning you." His tone low and serious. "I keep this mask on for a reason..." He took another deep breath, "and a promise..."

Dawn furrowed her eyebrows, "Trinity, I know you know I'm not Elise. Yes?" Dawn rolled her eyes at Beth and Elise. She bit her lip, ripping her skin and drawing some blood.

". . ." Trinity lost his voice for a moment.

After a few moments of mumbling to herself, she finally grew tired. "Shut up, Elise." Dawn scoffed. "And what reason is that, Trinity?" She asked.

Trinity lashed. "It's not your problem. I made a promise that I don't intend to break any time soon, it was their last wish anyways- " His hands curled into fists that trembled. "And don't pry me into taking my mask off, that's the last thing I would do." His tone was suddenly dark.

Dawn chuckled slightly, "You're only making this hard on yourself..."Desperation in Dawn's voice was clearly visible. "You made the promise because......???"

Trinity finally snapped, "Because it was my fault that I killed my closest friend!" He raised his fist and prepared to punch her, but he soon realized what he was doing. "I..." Trin let go of her, stepping back with wide eyes. His hands trembled.

They both stood in silence.

Then, Dawn whimpered and winced slightly, giving Elise back control. Elise gasped and let out shaky breaths, glancing at Trinity. She glanced over at him, backing away slightly, still catching her short breaths.

"Trinity...." She called out, a worried tone in her voice.

He stumbled backwards, shuddering, Elise heard his shaky breaths, they were all stunned.

He threw down his Jet Board and hopped on it, with immense haste, he turned and zoomed off.

"Trinity wait!" Elise called.

Elise's desperate pleads were still heard from afar as I hurriedly zipped away. The wind, rushing and blowing against me, I tried so hard to shut my mind off from a longing, horrifying memory that claws at the back of my head. They were my fears manifested into hungry, baleful beasts, ones that would hunt you, cannot be killed, and will always find its way to dig into your brain...one way, or another...At the deepest chambers of my brain, most of my darkest thoughts lurked, where they will always haunt me.

The memories... That I tried to run away from.
