Chapter 113

"Okay, I'm going to take a quick shower and then we can go watch the show." Ashton said as we walked into the dressing room.

"Okay." I smiled as he walked into the shower area with the boys.

"That was so cool!" Ender exclaimed next to me, still excited.

"I know. The boys are pretty cool aren't they?" I hugged his shoulders.

"Yeah." He smiled up at me.

"So we talked this morning and we've decided to let you have a phone, but it's going to have certain limitations and rules."

"I get a phone?!" He grinned.

"Yes. And Ashton will explain the rules when we give it to you."

"Thanks Car!"

"Daddy?" I heard Gracie and saw her walk into the showers.

"What is it Gray?" Ashton's voice echoed.

"I want shower." Her little voice said and I laughed.

"You don't need one right now, go see Mommy and I'll be there in a few minutes."

Gracie came over to me and I held her in my arms until Ashton came out, freshly showered and dressed in new clothes.

"Okay come here." He took Gracie from me and kissed on her cheek. "Did you just want some Daddy cuddles?"

"Mhmm." She nodded and rested her head on his shoulder.

"She's about to be out." Ashton said as he rocked her back and forth and I went to her bag to find her pyjamas.

We changed her clothes and I set up a little makeshift bed on the sofa where Ashton laid her down.

"But I wanna go." She whined as he covered her up with the blanket.

"It's past your bedtime and you need to sleep." He explained to her. "But Uncle Luke will be here to watch over you while you sleep."

"Okay Daddy!" She smiled.

I moved in to give Gracie a kiss and tell her I love her, Ashton doing the same, before we tucked her in and made sure Luke knew what to do in case she woke up.

Ender jumped on Ashton's back and Ash carried him back to the arena where security let us go to the spot where there was space between the stage and the barricades.

The lights went out and a mountain of screams crashed down on the stadium as music began and the four members of the band came on stage singing.

I didn't know any of their music but I smiled as I saw Harry walk by and look at me.

He came over to us while singing and gave us all high-fives before continuing the show.

Once it ended Brad began to take us backstage again and I noticed girls carrying and wearing shirts that had 5SOS's name and picture on it.

"How come I don't have a shirt?" I pointed out to a girl wearing one.

"I can get you all the merch you want." He laughed and squeezed my hand.

Backstage was crowded and we got back to our dressing room where Gracie was snoozing away.

We were about to leave to go to the hotel when I looked in the mirror and noticed I was still wearing Harry's coat.

Going across the hall I knocked on the door but no one answered.

"They already left for the night." A crew member told me and I nodded before going inside and laying the coat on the back of a chair.

I left the room and then went to get Gracie before we were taken to a new hotel.

Ashton somehow managed to get the guys to watch the kids for an hour so he and I could have some "time to ourselves".

I laid in the bed afterwards in a pair of his boxers and his tee shirt as he put on pyjamas and walked across the hall to get the kids.

Gracie was still asleep and Ender passed out as soon as he laid down.

The moment Ashton laid back down in the bed with me I brought his face down to mine so I could kiss him.

"Still?" He smirked between kisses.

"I just love you, that's all." I replied and he smiled at me.

"I love you too. Now let's get some sleep so we're not completely exhausted tomorrow."

"Okay." I kissed him once more before burrowing into the blankets with him.

The next morning we got ready and made our way back to the stadium for show two and when I walked in our dressing room I noticed Harry's black coat folded neatly on the table next to a water bottle I had left there last night. I knew it was mine because it still had the blue sticky note on it that read 'Car's water bottle! Don't drink it, Luke!'

I shook my head and picked up the coat before walking across the hall again.

The door was open but I knocked anyways and heard Harry call out that it was okay to come in.

"I think this belongs to you." I said as I saw him sitting on a sofa with his phone in hand.

"Are you returning my gift?" He asked with his serious expression.

"Well I put it in here last night but it was back in our room today, and I just wanted to make sure you got it back." I held it out to him but he didn't take it.

"I know, I'm the one who put it in there this morning."

"Why?" I raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"Just thought you might get cold again." He shrugged lightly.

"Oh." I said, not really knowing where to go from here.

"You can use it, I don't mind, really. It's just a coat."

"Oh, okay then. Thank you, Harry." I gave him a little smile before bowing my head and awkwardly leaving the room.

Back in our dressing room I put the coat down on the table.

I didn't know what to make of Harry. His personality seemed to be very conflicting.

"Hey Car, there's a goal outside wanna go have a match?" Calum asked as he walked out in basket ball shorts and a muscle tee.

"Yes!" I gasped excitedly. "Let me go change!"

I hurried to change into workout shorts and a tee and laced up my shoes before following him outside.

Ender was doing his school and Ashton was working with Gracie on her educational puzzles and games so I knew I wasn't needed.

Calum and I headed behind the stadium where there was a fenced in field. The sides went up into a hill where there were a few tall and pretty trees.

It was cloudy and cool outside as we began to kick around the ball, knocking each other over and running in circles as we tried to score more goals then the other.

After an hour I was exhausted and went up by the trees, laying down on my back and closing my eyes.

"Are you hurt?" A voice said after ten minutes and my eyes shot open to see Harry standing above me.

"Hmm? Oh no, I was just catching my breath." I sat up as he walked around to sit next to me.

"Did you enjoy the show last night?"

"Yeah, it was great. You have a lovely voice." I smiled.

"Thanks." He gave me a brief smile. "So that was your first show to go to?"

"It was. Can you believe it, I've been with Ashton six months and that's the first show I've been to." I laughed.

"Really?" He chuckled.

"Yeah, but I guess it's okay since I didn't find out about the band until a month ago."

"Wait, you didn't know he was in a band until a month ago?"

"Nope." I shook my head.

"How does that happen?" He looked confused.

"Well Ash just never told me and I never asked." I shrugged.

"Well they were on tour, how did you not know?"

"He said he was at work, and he would come back when he had breaks to visit."

"Wouldn't that make you mad, if someone didn't tell you something like that?" Harry asked me.

"It did, I like kicked him out of the house and we had a big melt down, but he did it for my protection and we talked everything out and then everything was okay." I pulled my knees up and rested my chin on them.

"Your protection?" He raised his eyebrows.

"Yeah, from like the media and fans and all of that. To be honest it was nice not knowing about any of that stuff because I didn't have to deal with all of the things people said or the articles about my relationship, but this is Ashton's life and I want to be apart of it, good and bad."

"You get used to it, the articles and media and everything."

"I don't think I'll ever get used to it." I shook my head with chuckle.

"I did." He said and I looked over at his serious expression.

"How could you? Maybe they've been nicer to you, but still, I can't even post an Instagram picture with out someone commenting on it for me to kill myself. If awful. I'll never understand how people can be so rude."

"I've had my fair share of bad press, but with time it not as hurtful, it's more annoying. You just have to ignore it."

"Well I try, but it also affects the kids. Like last week there was this whole thing that Ashton and I had ended our engagement which was obviously not true, but the paparazzi mobbed Ender and he came home sobbing. It broke our hearts, he thought we had broken up."

"But if you weren't fighting then why would he believe that?"

"He's just a very emotional kid. He's been through so much and ever since Ashton came into our lives he's been so attached to him. Ender told us that Ashton is the only dad he has left, so he was devastated when they said that."

Harry nodded.

"He seems like a good kid."

"He is, he's great. He's such an amazing kid."

"I didn't see Gracie at the show last night?" He changed the subject.

"Oh yeah." I laughed. "Ashton held her for like two seconds before she passed out asleep. She was exhausted after she danced and sang to every song in the boys set."

Harry laughed.

"That little girl." I shook my head. "She's changed our lives, she's so amazing."

"It was interesting to see Ashton be a dad. He's changed a lot since I last saw him."

"He's an amazing dad." I smiled. "He loves those kids so much and would do anything for them. And just us adopting Gracie made me realise just how great he is."

Harry gave me a smile.

"So what about you Harry, are you seeing anyone?" I asked, hoping to get to know him better.

"I don't talk about my private life." He said in a sudden rude tone and I shied away a little in shock.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"

"No..." He interrupted and sighed, "That was rude of me I apologise. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that."

I nodded.

"I'm just a very private person."

"I understand." I gave him a little smile.

"And to answer your question, no; I'm not seeing anyone."

My smile widened at his words and he smiled at me as well.

"You're an interesting girl Carter, there's something different about you." Harry said and I let out a laugh.

"Same to you Harry."

"I'm an interesting girl?" He laughed.

"More like an intriguing boy who is very nice to talk to, you know, when you're not snapping at me." I winked and we both went into laughter.

"Carter!" I suddenly heard a shout of my name and looked up to see Ashton standing at the edge of the field by the bands' cars and buses.

He waved me over.

"I've got to go, but it was nice talking to you Harry." I smiled as I stood up.

"To you as well." He nodded, his smile now gone and I jogged down the hill, running to Ashton and jumping on his back once I reached him.

"Hi." I leaned over his shoulder to kiss the corner of his mouth.

"Hi." He laughed. "Lunch is here."

"Aw, the way to my heart." I giggled and he joined in, a cheerful grin on his face as he gave me a piggy back ride inside so we could eat.

After lunch Ender's tutor Mr. Johnson had arrived for Ender's lesson and I had just taken a drink when I heard what sounded like Gracie crying coming down the hallway and Ashton then carried the sobbing child in the door.

"Someone wants Mommy cuddles." He said and I sighed before holding my arms out to her.

"Okay, come here." I sighed and pulled the blanket up over us once she was in my arms.

I unzipped my sweatshirt, revealing my sports bra and she nestled her head into my chest as I put the blanket over her to not reveal my skin to the world.

I rubbed my hand up and down her back over the blanket to calm her.

She was doing better until she tugged on the top of my sports bra under the blanket.

"No Gracie." I said but she pulled again. "Gracie Irwin, stop."

"Mommy!" She whined in a high pitched voice as the tugged again and I zipped up my sweatshirt before sitting up.

"Gracie, you are a big girl now. You drink from sippy cups."

"Mommy!" She began to cry again and crawled into my lap, pulling at me and tugging on my shirt.

"Ash, a little help please." I said from where he was watching Ender do a math problem and he hurried over to get her to stop clinging to me.

Gracie let out a scream when Ashton picked her up, sobbing and thrashing in his arms.

"HEY!" He said loudly in a booming voice. "That's enough!"

He held her kicking feet down while I took a breath to calm my flustered and frazzled self.

"You are a big girl now Gracie. You can have "mommy cuddles" all you want but you will drink from a sippy cup like a big girl, do you understand me?" Ashton spoke to her in a firm tone that I liked to call his "dad voice".

She nodded her head, tears still rolling down her pink cheeks and Ashton set her back down in my lap where she went to hug me.

I hugged her back but looked up to Ashton who took a deep breath before leaving the room looking very upset.

It was around Gracie's nap time so I knew half of her crankiness was from that, so I held her and kissed her until she fell asleep.

Laying her down gently I covered her up with the blanket before leaving the dressing room and walking down the hallway until I found Ashton sitting on one of the equipment crates, his head in his hands as he looked down at the floor.

"You okay, baby?" I sat down next to him, placing my hand on his arm.

"I yelled at her. I yelled at my child." He said like he was confessing to committing a crime.

"Ash she was acting up and you did what you had to do to get her attention. You didn't do anything wrong."

"I don't want to be that parent that yells and screams at their children."

"Ashton. She was being bad. This is the first time you've ever raised your voice at her but she listened. You're just doing what your parental instincts tell you to do. You're not a bad father Ashton, you did good." I rubbed my hand up and down his arm.

"Yeah." He said then sighed. "I don't like doing that."

"No one does, but sometimes you have to do what's necessary to teach them a lesson."

He nodded silently.

"Hey, you know how much Gracie loves you and she knows how much you love her. She needed her nap and was cranky and was being bad, you did what any father would have done, okay?"

He nodded again and I put my hand under his chin so I could lift his head up and press a kiss to his cheek.

"Would it make you feel better to go lay with her for a bit before soundcheck?" I asked him and he nodded.

Taking his hand I stood up and pulled him up as well.

"Thank you." He gave me a little smile.

"I'm just being a fiancé." I smiled up at him as we walked and he let out a laugh, bending down for a kiss.

When we broke the kiss I looked up and noticed Harry passing by.

I waved at him and but he didn't smile or wave back, just nodded in my direction.

I frowned slightly but then forgot as we walked into our room.

Ashton went over to Gracie who was snuggled up in the blankets and gently lifted her up.

"Daddy." She mumbled as her head rested on his shoulder and he laid down on the sofa, adjusting Gracie so she could lay on his chest. He pulled the blankets over them and then began to run his fingers through her dark curls, kissing the skin of her forehead.

He really did love her so much.

Eventually he had to go soundcheck and I switched places with him, actually falling asleep for a little bit, still getting used to this whole jet-lag thing.

Ashton woke us up when he came back so we could head off to dinner.

After that we came back to the dressing room so the boys could get ready but Ashton had a surprise waiting for Ender sitting on the table.

"Okay End come here." Ashton picked up the brand new iPhone and had Ender sit in front of him on the sofa while I went to sit next to Ashton.

"We have decided to let you have the phone, but there will be rules that you have to follow or else it will get taken away, do you understand?" Ashton asked, keeping the phone in his hand.

"Yes Sir." Ender nodded.

"Okay, you will have no password on the phone, you can have one social media but we will run it and will have the password to that as well. You have a set amount of data and if you go over it then you have to pay us back whatever it costs. We can and will check your phone anytime we want to, and if it starts becoming a distraction from school work then I will take it up."

"Yes Sir." Ender nodded.

"We are trusting you with this phone Ender. You want us to give you a chance to prove responsibility? Well this is it." I said and he smiled.

"Thank you." He came forward and hugged us both before Ashton handed him the phone.

"Did you get insurance on that thing?" I asked Ash and he laughed.

"Hell yeah."

While Ashton got ready I helped Ender set up his new phone, adding the important phone numbers he would need, showing him how to check his data, and also helping him create an Instagram account for his one social media.

I made a note in my phone of his account password.

We then left to go watch the show and when I came back I noticed a small slip of white paper next to my back pack.

It was a phone number and then a few words.

'Keep the coat. H'
