Chapter Thirteen

When she and Chris were two hours into an episode of Raw from two weeks ago, Sabrina's phone rang.

She looked at Chris, who picked up the remote and paused the show. She answered the phone.

"Hello?"

"Sabrina!" It was Vince. "You're not busy, are you?"

"No, sir," She says, and realization crosses over Chris's face as he figures out who it is. "We're just watching Raw."

He chuckles. "How do you like it?"

"It's great, so far," She replies. "It'd be better if I was on it, but I'm here, so..."

"I wanted to get an update on your ankle," He says, getting right to the point.

"I start physical therapy in a few weeks," She says. "I'll be back in the ring before you know it!"

"Great!" He exclaims. "As you may know, the Slammys are next week, and I know you can't wrestle or anything, but how would you like to present an award?"

Sabrina's eyes widen. "That'd be awesome!"

"I thought you'd say that," He says. "I know you're probably spending all kinds of money on doctor's visits, and soon physical therapy, so I want to pay for your ticket to Seattle. Hell, Jericho can come, too, if he wants to! It's just the WWE Universe misses you, so I figured this would be a nice treat."

"I miss the WWE Universe, too, so this all sounds good to me," She says. "I'm sure Jericho would love to come, so I'm not going to ask him." Chris chuckles. "But I can't wait!"

"When you get here, I'll give you all the information you need," He says. "We're letting the fans vote this year, so there will be a match before you announce the winner."

"All right," She says.

"That's all I have for you right now," Vince says. "I'll see you on Monday, Sabrina."

"Can't wait!"

Sabrina hangs up and looks over at Chris, who is staring at her expectantly.

"Well...?" He asks.

"What?"

"What did you just volunteer me to do?"

"The Slammys are next week," She says. "Vince wants me to present an award. He said you can come, too."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I'm sure you can try to get a match, too, if you ask him," She says, smiling.

"As much as I love being around you, I do miss the ring," He admits.

Sabrina shrugs. "I'm getting tired of you, too. It's okay."

"Then it's settled," Chris says, clapping his hands together. "We're going to the Slammys!"

Monday Night:

Phil was in his locker room with Kofi, talking and just hanging out, when he heard a loud banging on his door.

"What the hell...?" He mutters. He looks over at Kofi, who shrugs, and gets up to answer it.

He opens the door and his eyes widen when he sees who it is. She was on crutches and in a dress, but other than that, she was recognizable.

"Sabrina!" He exclaims.

"Hey!" She says, smiling. "Do I not get a hug?"

"Uh, yeah, of course!" He says, hugging her as best as he can with her crutches.

"Is that really Sabrina?" Kofi asks from his spot in the locker room. "Or are you just trying to trick me?"

Sabrina rolls her eyes and laughs. "It's really me, Kofi!"

He gets up and walks over to them. "It is you!"

"I just said that it was me!" She says.

"What are you doing here?" He asks, incredulously.

"I'm here for the Slammys!" She says. "I'm presenting the award for 'Extreme Moment of the Year.'"

"Hey, I'm nominated for that!" Phil says.

"Good luck!" She says. "Based on the other nominees, you're going to need it."

"So when do you get off these crutches?" Kofi asks.

"I still need them for a few more weeks," She says, sighing. She smiles. "Once I get this thing off my leg and I'm not on crutches anymore, I'm going to need some help getting used to being in the ring again. Do you know anyone who would want to help me with that?"

"Say no more," Phil says. "The best in the world will gladly help you."

She laughs. "I wasn't even asking you, but since you offered..."

"I'm not just going to leave my best friend hanging like that," He says. "If you need help returning to the ring, I'm your guy. You'll need to defend your titles as some point, and since I held the WWE Championship for 434 days, I think I'm the most qualified person to help."

Kofi rolls his eyes. "I'll help too, by the way. I'm not as impressive as 434 days as champ, but I'm pretty awesome, so I think that makes up for it."

"I knew I could count on you two," She says. "Well, I'm going to go say hi to Heath. He doesn't know I'm here yet."

"Before you go," Phil says. "What in the world were you using to knock on the door? It sounded like the Hulk wanted in here."

She smiles. "Hey, these crutches are good for other things besides helping me walk."

She turns around and leaves, looking around for the locker rooms for the tag teams. Since she left, Heath now shared a locker room with his partners. Finally, she finds one labeled 3MB. She knocks on it – with her hand this time, not her crutch – and waits for someone to answer.

Jinder answers it, and when he sees Sabrina, his eyes widen. He quickly walks out of the room and closes the door.

"Sabrina!" He exclaims.

"Hey." She smiles. "Is my brother in there?"

"Yes, but you can't let Drew know you're here," He says. "Do you have a locker room?"

"Yeah..."

"Go there and I will send Heath to you," He says. Before he turns around, he says, "It was nice seeing you though, Sabrina."

Sabrina turns around and walks back to her locker room. She turns on the TV and watches the New Age Outlaws present the award for 'LOL Moment of the Year.'

A few seconds later, someone knocks on the door. She gets up to answer it and smiles when she sees it's Heath.

"I didn't know you were gonna be here, Autumn!" He says, walking inside. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Nice to see you, too," She says, rolling her eyes.

"I mean, it's great to see you and all..."

"I wanted to surprise everyone," She says, shrugging.

"You obviously can't wrestle yet, so why are you here?" He asks.

"I'm presenting an award!" She says. "Chris has a match, too, so it's like we never left."

"So this is just a one night thing?" He asks.

She sighs. "Yeah. I can't do anything with a broken ankle. I start physical therapy in a few weeks, though."

"We've missed you around here," He says. "Well, I've got to go. I'll see you later."

"Bye!"

He leaves, so she turns her attention back to the TV. Eve Torres was talking about Diva of the Year. Sabrina rolls her eyes as they go through the nominees. It looked like it was all the girls from Total Divas. After Eva Marie, they showed AJ, then...

They started showing different parts of Sabrina's matches. They showed her and Kaitlyn hugging after she was eliminated off of NXT. They showed when she won the Intercontinental Championship. They showed a few matches between her and Cody Rhodes. They showed her and Chris winning the Tag Team Championships.

She was the last nominee, so they showed a match while the fans voted. They went to a commercial break, then came back to Eve.

"And the winner is..." She opens the envelope. "Sabrina Slater!"

Sabrina widens her eyes and gets up. She finds Gorilla and tells them to play her music. The crowd erupts in cheers as she walks out, smiling.

She accepts the award from Eve and goes to the podium.

"Oh my gosh! Thank you guys!" She says. "I honestly didn't even know I was nominated, but when I found out, I didn't think y'all would vote for me! I don't know if I'm even technically considered a Diva. I've been gone for almost a month! But I will be back in that ring before you know it and I will prove to y'all why you voted me Diva of the Year!"

She hugs Eve and they go backstage together.

"I didn't know you were going to be here!" Sabrina exclaims, smiling.

"Yeah, I talked to Vince last week and he said he wanted me to present an award," Eve says. "I've been wondering where you've been, but now I see why."

"I landed on my ankle awkwardly after I was pushed off a ladder," She says. "It's broken now. It sucks, but it just makes me even more excited to get back in the ring."

"I don't know if anyone's told you this, but you are definitely redefining the Divas division," She says. "I know you're not technically considered a Diva, but how many women have broken their ankles because they were pushed off a ladder? You remind me a lot of Lita, and I know your career is nowhere near over, but I can tell you'll probably do even more than her."

"Oh, wow, thanks," Sabrina says. "No one has told me that before, but it means a lot coming from you. Lita is my absolute favorite Diva and one of my inspirations, so it makes me feel great that you'd compare me to her." She looks past Eve to look at a TV on the wall. "It looks like someone is accepting their award, so that means I'm up next. I hope we can talk again soon."

"I'd love to," She says, smiling, before walking away.

The Miz walks backstage, Stephanie McMahon a few feet behind him. Sabrina is introduced.

"Here to present the next award, one half of the Tag Team Champions: Sabrina Slater!"

Sabrina walks back out, the crowd cheering her on. She walks up to the podium with a smile on her face.

"These next four nominees have definitely made a name for themselves in the WWE," She says. "From doing crazy things at Extreme Rules to attacking the boss, these men know the meaning of 'extreme.' These are the nominees for Extreme Moment of the Year."

They show the nominees – CM Punk, The Shield, Ryback, and the Wyatt Family – on the TitanTron, so she goes backstage while two Superstars come out to have a match. It was up to the WWE Universe to decide who won.

She sat on some crates and watched the match. Once it was over, she got up and received the envelope with the winner on it. She went out and back to the podium.

"And the winner is..." She says, opening the envelope. When she sees the name, she smiles. "CM Punk!"

Phil comes out, hugging Sabrina and taking the Slammy. He goes on to talk about Paul Heyman and Hell in a Cell, then they both go backstage.

"I think Jericho has a match coming up, so do you want to stay in my locker room with me and Kofi?" He asks.

She smiles. "Yeah, sure. I think I'm going to head over to Catering first. I'm hungry."

"All right, I'll meet you there, then," He says.

"Okay."

They both go their separate ways.

As Sabrina reached the hallway that would take her to Catering, someone grabbed her arm. Her eyes widened and she turned around.

"Drew?"

"Yeah..." He says. "Can we talk?"

"Now?"

"Yeah."

"Here?"

"Why do you have so many questions?" He asks.

She shrugs. "I just wanted to make sure."

"We can talk here if you want," He says.

"Okay..."

"Listen, I just wanted to apologize," He says. "For everything. I know I was being a stupid bastard and I wish I could take back what I did, but I can't. I just want to try to make things right. Can we start over?"

"Oh, um..." She hesitates. "Yeah, sure, I guess."

"Another date?" He suggests.

"Actually..." She says. "I have a boyfriend now."

He frowns. "Who?"

"Chris..."

"Oh." He starts to make a face, but stops, taking a deep breath and closing his eyes. He opens them again. "Well, can we be friends?"

She offers a small smile. "Yeah, sure."

"Great," He says. "I'm going to go. Hope we can talk again soon."

"Yeah, totally."

Drew walks away and Sabrina stands there, confused. She wasn't sure why she accepted Drew's apology so easily. Her mother had always told her to forgive and forget, but she didn't know if that included guys who hit women.

Well, She thought, If he hits me again, I know not to forgive him again.

She turns back around and walks to Catering, thinking about her conversation with Drew.
