Chapter 16
"When a hand is extended in peace, the polite thing to do, Mr. Chance, is to shake it." Tim says as he raises a brow.
"Don't just sit there. Shake his hand." Adam says. "He doesn't bite."
"Your neck says differently, Adam." Sami giggles at the blushing blonde.
Chance takes a deep breath before extending his shaking hand to take Tim's.
"Now see? That wasn't so bad, was it?" Tim smiles as he shakes the bearded man's hand.
"You feel so human." Chance says with a nervous smile.
"What did you expect me to feel like? Rubber?" Tim chuckles as he sits down next to his lover.
"To tell you the truth, I don't know. I just wasn't expecting to feel human flesh." Chance says.
"I'm an old ghost. I've learned to take many different forms." Tim says as he puts his arm around Adam on the back of his chair. "But one thing that I don't do is possess people. As I said, I am not a demon."
"Yeah, sorry about that. I don't know much about the spirit world." Chance says with a shrug.
"Believe it or not, there are good spirits. Spirits that are stuck here for one reason or another." Tim says. "I just happen to be one of those spirits."
"What about the other spirit? Aren't there two of you here?" Sami asks. She found the spirit very interesting.
"Yes, there are two of us here. Austin is a much younger spirit and doesn't have the abilities that I have. He's okay, I guess. Just a little mischievous." Tim says with a smirk. "He likes to let people know that he's around."
"Is he here now?" Sami asks as she looks around.
"Austin? Let your presence be known." Tim says as he smiles at the girl across from Adam.
Suddenly, an empty chair that was at the table, slides across the floor of the dining room.
"AHHHHH!! OH, MY GOD!!!" Sami screams as she practically jumps into her boyfriend's lap.
"HOLY SH*T!!" Chance yells out.
"He does go to the extreme on things." Tim says as he gives his fellow spirit an annoyed look.
"What did you want me to do?" Austin chuckles.
"A light tap on the wall would have been sufficient." Tim says, shaking his head.
"That was a little too much, Austin. No need to scare the crap out of my friends." Adam adds.
"You guys are no fun." Austin laughs. "I'm going to go watch some tv."
"Fine. Just keep the noise down." Tim replies.
"Sure thing, old timer." Austin chuckles as he proceeds to the living room, stomping as loud as he could.
Chance and Sami gives each other frightened glances as they hear the loud footsteps leading away from the table. The sound of the tv suddenly blares from the next room causing the couple to jump.
"AUSTIN!! TURN THAT DOWN!!" Adam yells.
Austin laughs loudly but does turn down the volume.
"Sorry about that. He can be a little annoying at times." Tim says with a slight smirk on his face.
"So. Are you able to leave the house and property?" Sami asks.
"Yeah. But only for a few hours." Tim answers with a nod. "Three or four at the most. It takes a lot of energy to do so."
"As a matter of fact, Tim went with me to town. We probably stayed for about three hours. But he was really weak when he got home." Adam says as he gives Tim a loving look.
"Well, we came over to see if you wanted to go to the club with us. That offer is still open." Chance says.
"What kind of club?" Adam asks. He was pretty sure that his cowboy would not like some of today's music.
"Country." Chance answers.
"What do you think?" Adam asks his lover.
"I'm okay with it, I guess. As long as she doesn't notify her friend that you're going to be there." Tim says as he raises his brow at Sami.
"I promise." Sami smiles. "Although he does hang out there a lot. But he's a good guy. He won't start any trouble."
"But you guys have to promise to leave when Tim starts to feel himself getting weak." Adam says.
"Deal." Chance nods as he stands from the table and takes Sami by the hand. "We'll be back to pick you guys up around eight."
"We'll be ready." Adam smiles as he follows his friends to the door.
Chance was more like a brother to Adam than his own brother. It made him happy that they were accepting Tim. Including him in their night out instead of canceling.
"Can I ask you something at the risk of sounding stupid?" Tim asks as Adam closes the door.
"Sure." Adam smiles as he slides his arms around his lover's neck.
"Uh, what's a club?" Tim asks with a slight chuckle. "I thought a club was a big stick."
"I guess you would know it better as a saloon." Adam answers.
"Ohhh, okay." Tim nods.
~~
"Just what am I suppose to wear to this place?" Tim calls out from his closet as he stares at his clothes.
"Clothes." Adam chuckles as he slips on his boots.
"No, sh*t?" Tim says as he glances over his shoulder at the blonde.
"Move your booty." Adam smiles as he smacks Tim's ass. "I'll find you something."
Tim steps back to give his lover full access to the closet. He knew that Adam would pick out something that he thought look sexy on the spirit so he didn't mind at all. The cowboy just wanted to look good for his lover just in case that other cowpoke showed up..
"These jeans look really good on you." Adam says as he hands them over to Tim. "And definitely this shirt. You wore this the other day and I could hardly keep my hands off you."
"Sounds good to me." Tim smiles as he takes the shirt and begins to get dressed.
"Wow! I'm speechless." Adam smiles as he looks at the handsome ghost before him.
"And you, my love, take my breath away." Tim says softly as his arms snake around the blonde's waist, pulling him closer, kissing him on the neck.
"Okay." Adam giggles as he gently pushes back his lover. "Let's not get anything started. They'll be here soon."
"Hey, you two..." Austin says as he walks through the closed door. "Adam, your friends are here. I think I might have scared them a bit when I opened the door for them." He chuckles. "Obi Wan? When are you gonna teach me the ways of the Force so I can go party too?"
"Who and the what?" Tim asks.
"Never mind. We need to go." Adam says with an eye roll and a shake of the head. Austin enjoyed saying things to the older spirit that confused the hell out of him.
"DON'T FORGET YOUR CURFEW!!" Austin calls out as the couple heads downstairs.
~~
"You okay?" Adam asks as they walk hand in hand across the parking lot toward the bar.
"A little nervous." Tim nods as he watches the ground as he walks.
"It may be a little louder than what you're used to." Adam says, earning an understanding nod from the spirit.
Chance opens the door allowing Adam and Tim to enter first. Tim grips tightly to the blonde's hand as he nervously looks around. He felt as if he was having a minor panic attack. The extremely loud music, the bright flashing lights on the dance floor, the sounds of people playing pool and pinball machines were all new to him.
"This may take some getting used to for you." Chance chuckles, patting Tim on the back as he sees the panic look on the spirit's face.
"Oh, you think?" Tim sasses as his eyes dart around the room.
"Maybe we should go find a table before he decides to run." Sami says with a soft giggle.
"Poke fun if you want to, Missy, but that has crossed my mind. I'm literally about to freak out." Tim says. (Freak out- a word he had learned from the greenhorn)
