Chapter 50: My Prized Possession
Jungkook rode off in the cold and heavy weather as he cried and managed to escape the officers. His mind played back at how he shot Jimin twice and watched how his lover looked back at him seconds before pulling the trigger. Let alone the gasp Jimin gave in pain. As Jungkook rode further away from the scene, he recalled hearing Jimin's loud screams in pain until the officers reached him to help along with Junghyun. Jungkook was finally alone with his thoughts and began to suffer the aftermath of shooting Junghyun and the love of his life: Park Jimin. Jungkook couldn't stop the tears filling his face as the rain began to beat onto the mask. Jungkook was losing his mind as he drove further and further away from his lover.
"I-I SHOT HIM!" Jungkook cried and pulled over in an alley where he dropped his motorcycle so carelessly onto the ground. Suddenly, he hugged his knees and finally took off the Oni mask to smash it onto the ground when he thought back at the way he shot Jimin; such an innocent and helpless man he fell deeply in love with. Jungkook carried regret for hurting his Swan and even then… His mind travelled back at how he shot and killed his own brother. Jungkook hugged his knees and sobbed in pain. "H-He was right… Jimin knew I wouldn't live with the guilt… I'm not strong enough! My Jimin…. M-My brother… Now he's gone for real this time and Jimin won't ever love me a-anymore!" Jungkook cried and cupped his face. Trying to imagine a life without Jimin… But, all he saw was pitch darkness in his thoughts. Jungkook truly couldn't live without his Swan.
While Jungkook cried to himself in a dark alley, Jimin was screaming from his bullet wounds in agony and was close to fainting. The amount of blood he lost left his eyelids weighing closed, but he kept fighting back on it. The officers arrived and was sure to put Jimin and Junghyun into the police car. Knowing they didn't have much time to call an ambulance. The two injured people were separated into different officer cars and by there, they were taken to the nearest hospital. Junghyun was taken because the officer's noticed he still had a pulse. Jungkook didn't kill his own brother at all and shot him where it was enough to kill him slowly. Yet, the blood he wasted wasn't enough to end him. Jimin on the other hand, kept fainting from the blood he lost along with the pain that became unbearable for him.
As they rushed the two into the hospitals; Jimin only murmured Jungkook's name in pain as he dropped his head to the side and was rushed to the ER. The strong lights of the hospital blinded Jimin's eyes until he closed them shut completely. Closing his eyes before they sent him to sleep to perform surgery and remove the bullets that didn't seem to shoot through except for the one in his leg. Not the one in his shoulder. While they rushed Junghyun and Jimin to separate ERs Jimin's eyes were closed completely as he was left in his thoughts once more.
"He shot me… He shot me and here I am at the hospital… He shot and left me. Why was meeting him a curse? It was a blessing for a short time, but now it was a curse. Of course, Jungkook can't live without me… He must have done it for a reason right? I still love him but I'm furious towards him. Jungkook broke our promise… This wouldn't have happened if he had followed my words. We would be at the base, talking things out with Junghyun and we would be okay… Yet, he only made things worse. Is this what I get? Is this what I deserve for falling in love with… Him..? Six, Lucifer or Satan himself… Number thirteen… It was a curse that was decorated with blessings from start to finish."
Jimin was swept away as memories of Jungkook smiling at him and kissing him was what echoed the most powerful emotions in Jimin's mind. Memories came flashing in his eyes; when Jungkook kissed him outside of sex for the first time, their first date, thier first kitten, their first anniversary gift, their first words exchanging 'I love you's' and who couldn't forget their first touch that night at the club? Jimin reminisced how happy he was with Jungkook and soon woke up. Having to be put to sleep through the surgery was like a snap of a finger; the hours slipped him quickly as he opened his eyes in his own hospital room.
Jimin batted his eyes awake and was instantly greeted by the pain in his shoulder and his leg where he was shot. As Jimin gasped softly, he huffed from the pain after realizing it. Taking a look down to see his leg in a big cast and his shoulder completely wrapped in many bandages along with his chest. Instantly, Jimin took a glance up to see a Nurse who quickly walked up to him just to inject a painkiller into his body and by there, the piercing pain went numb and he was left with a tear to escape his eyes. Without a warning, the room door opened and there Jihyun, Mr. and Mrs. Park stood. Having to take a jet ride back to Seoul instantly. Turns out, they weren't so far and only arrived hours later. That alone was enough time for Jimin to wake up from after his surgery.
"Big brother!" Jihyun cried as he shoved his father aside and rushed to him instantly. "Oh you're alive!" Jihyun worried as Jimin blinked his eyes and his gaze met with his family. With a nod from the Nurse, each was allowed to hug him carefully. Yet, when his Mother pulled her son into a hug, Jimin couldn't help but to cry more on her shoulder. "Jimin, when I heard you got shot, I couldn't help but to start crying!" Jihyun continued and that's when Mr. Park covered Jihyun's mouth from running on and giving Jimin a headache.
"Mother…" Jimin finally spoke in tears as he wrapped his free arm around his Mother's body happily. "I missed you…"
"I missed you more. You had us so worried… I thought you were going to leave us forever without saying goodbye… without seeing me one more time…" Mrs. Park continued as she pulled back from the hug and cupped Jimin's face into her hands. Of course, this alone left Jimin thinking back at how his own Mother would cup his face when he was just a little child. Feeling his Mother's soft hands over his face made him recall the time he fell off his bike and had his Mother aid his wounds with many bandages. After, she held his face in her gentle hands and smiled at him. Showing him that he will be alright. "I love you… I'm beyond glad that you're okay…" Whispered Mrs. Park as she gave her wounded son a kiss on the forehead like before.
"Jimin, you're so strong to handle those bullets and still manage to breathe even if you lost so much blood! Luckily you had enough to wake up and feel better. However, you're anemic now; you have an iron deficiency… But don't worry, we'll help you build your iron levels back up. We'll be here for you." Mr. Park promised as Jimin smiled at his father as his gaze slowly locked onto the nightstand by the hospital room. There, he looked at his swan necklace Jungkook gave him earlier. Jimin stared at it longer and that's when the nurse walked up to the necklace and picked it up to give Jimin his chain and Swan charm.
"It was covered in blood, the doctors thought of throwing it away… but I thought it must have been special to you, so I snuck it out of the ER and cleaned it up for you. Here… It means so much to you, doesn't it?" The young nurse asked as she smiled and handed the necklace to Jimin's weary hand.
"Jungkook…" Jimin whispered as he held the necklace by the chain and stared at the Swan sway around by the necklace.
"Jungkook?" Mr. Park asked. Knowing well that Jimin was talking about the boss of the many branches, one of the richest men in Korea, and apparently, the man that stole Jimin's heart that night at the club he was invited to a few days after his twenty third birthday. With that, Mr. Park pulled up a picture he took with Jungkook when he finally met him and that's when he realized Jimin was in a relationship with the man. Instantly, Mr. Park felt ashamed of forcing Jimin on dates with Seung-Woo when Jimin was already in a relationship with Jeon Jungkook.
"Who's Jungkook?" Whispered the Mother as Mr. Park showed her the picture he took with Jungkook one day. With that, she smiled back at Jimin admiring the silver necklace of the Swan.
"...I want a sugar daddy too." Jihyun spoke out of nowhere and that's when Mr. Park laughed and shoved his son instantly. "What? I want a Swan necklace too! That thing is probably worth a fortune!"
"I don't care… how much it costs… it only matters what importance it holds… It's my prized possession..." Jimin added along and sank his hand down to place the charm over his heart. Even if Jimin was upset, he still fought with his feelings to try and make himself realize Jungkook wasn't the one for him… But, he just couldn't let Jungkook go. How could he let the man that loved him for so long and showed him about respecting himself, go? Jimin recalled his life before. Going to clubs and hooking up with anyone he would see… He had no respect for himself and believed his Brother and Father when they told him he wasn't good enough. Being with Jungkook made him realize his worth and made him fall in love with Jungkook and himself. As time passed, Jimin respected himself, valued himself, and of course, loved himself. Stood up for himself and shoved all the negative thoughts away to fill his mind with only the positives Jungkook taught him.
Jimin's heart pounded just thinking of his Jungkook until… His mind recalled when he was shot by the man that taught him how to love. Jimin teared up silently as he imagined being alone when the Nurse, his Brother, his Father and Mother, were standing around his hospital bed. "Jimin… It's okay, we're here now." Jihyun mentioned and caught Jimin's gaze. "What's wrong? Are you pregnant?"
"What the in the- Why is everyone asking me that?! It's nothing… I'm just glad you all are here…" Jimin replied and set the Swan necklace back onto the nightstand. Not wanting to think about Jungkook as his family was there before him. Together, they spent hours out of work just to smile and share funny stories to cheer Jimin up. The injured man heard stories of when he was a young boy and how he told his Mother that he wanted to be the best swordsman in the whole wide world! Jimin found himself giggling and covering his mouth just to hear more as his brother teased him about everything. Jimin bonded with his family for once and he didn't have to hear a single word mentioning Jeon Jungkook. Throughout the hours he spent with his parents in the hospital room, he avoided turning his head and looking at the Swan necklace that only gave him the bad memory of when he was shot.
As Jimin sat in the hospital room with his family in privacy, Jungkook finally showed up at the hospital after finding the nearest one to the crime scene. Finally, Jungkook had hope filled in his regretful heart once he ran in to take a look around. The younger rushed up to the front desk in a black turtleneck sweater, blue ripped jeans, and yellow timberlands. His hands were occupied by roses as he still dragged regret in his mind. He came to see Jimin and cry to him about how he didn't mean to hurt him. Jungkook got the attention of the worker at the front desk and told the man who he wanted to visit. "Park Jimin… is he awake? Healthy for visits?"
"Oh, yes he is! It's going to be a full house in his room.. His family came to see him today." The man added as Jungkook smiled to himself and slipped his ID to the man so he could make his visitor's badge -Which was just a sticker to put over his chest.- With that, Jungkook was free to visit Jimin… But as the younger walked up to the room nearby the lobby… He heard Jimin's giggles along with his family members. This was a moment Jungkook knew he couldn't ruin. The man was frozen in place as he fought back the tears before backing out so suddenly.
The young man stepped back until he found himself walking to the lobby and taking off his sticker over his turtleneck sweater just to talk to the worker once more. "In fact, I think I'll visit someone else…" Jungkook mentioned and gained a confused head tilt from the man at the desk.
"How come?"
"Park Jimin is with his family… I'll visit him another time." Jungkook added as the man on the desk pulled up the patients in the hospital currently. "How about… Yoshida Seung-Woo… Is he here?" Jungkook asked… Hoping that he wouldn't hear that the man was dead. He was happy he shot Junghyun, but then again… He prayed he could hear the man at the desk tell him he was alive.
"Seung-Woo…. Seung-Woo… Ah, here he is. He's doing fine and visitors are welcomed. Here." The man at the desk added and printed another sticker for Jungkook to put on. Showing that he came to visit his brother. Not Jimin. As Jungkook passed by Jimin's door once more he could hear Jimin's giggles and it was enough to make him stop for a moment to smile. Holding the roses in his hands longer while Jimin sat inside. Staring at the door and feeling as if his heart ached but still pounded at the same time. Jimin's prized possession may have been the Swan necklace from Jungkook alone… On the other hand, Jungkook's prized possession has always, and will always be his Park Jimin at the very end.
